There are many other great brands with Chelsea boots too Wolverine, Redwing, RM Williams, Jim Green, Oak Street, Redback, Danner, Ariat, Parkhurst, Nick's, Viberg, Unmarked, Meermin, Benzein, etc. Prices are obviously all over the map depending on what you want.....starting from about $100 for the Wolverine up past $1000 for Viberg in shell.

I've never bought any Chelsea boots because I fear that they won't fit well. I have an issue with boots in that I wear a 4E and almost always have to size up and go down to a 2E as 4E is very, very uncommon. As such I either get a boot that is slightly too tight in the vamp and at the ball of the foot or one that is slightly too loose in the heel. I just think these things would flop around all over my foot, lol. With lace up boot I can just tie them tighter.
Blundstones lie: they are not made in Tasmania, Australia. Most of their boot production were move to cheaper labor countries in Asia. Redbacks Chelsea is a true Australian Chelsea, better, more comfortable. Ps. Great video. Chelseas ars geeat!

Some Australians are upset at this because they use the country's name but took the jobs elsewhere to save on costs of labor. Nothing wrong with Vietnam, so I rather see something like: design in "Tasmania, made in Vietnam." Like what Apple does. Just for the sake of transparency. Redbacks are similar priced, more comfortable and made in Australia. I recommend them :)

Why NOT Chelseas? Here's my answer. The 1st and only pair I ever bought, Thursdays, have a heel that directs pressure toward the toes. Without the support of laces, the foot is forced toward the toes, scrunching up the toes in the toe of the shoe. Result: sore toes after a day of wearing. After wearing them 3 times I'm about to donate them to the thrift store. Maybe other Chelseas are different; that's my experience with the Thursdays. BTW I have 6 other pair of Thursdays and love them all.
Surprised that Beckett Simonon didn't make the list; ~$300 made to order from Bogota so there is a bit of a wait. Preston and Bolton for dress (full grain leather) and Silvas for everyday wear (pullup leather; I use these as rain boots). Those ranch boots from Taylor Stitch look nice and chunky but only in D width.
14:45 Sadly its not true that Allen Edmonds is the company of their past. They have been gutted like 3 times from Vulture Capital companies. Theres so much synthetic materials in their boots just to sell out for more cash... Not to mention the use of questionable labor in Dominican Republic.. Same with Thorogood, and many other "American" companies. customers need to demand the use to real all leather materials or dont buy from them...

I bought the dark brown shiny leather Cavaliers from Thursday wanting to recreate the RM Williams look but when I tried with cuffed jeans and a t shirt it looked like it didn’t work with the casual outfit 😢

Of course. They're trying to make shoes that look like a timeless design. All the shoes I mention here are great chelseas. Some are made better than others. You get what you pay for. But not everyone wants or needs to spend $600+ on premium boots. Sometimes you just need a good bargain. That's why I mention several.
I'm not sure what you mean. Thursdays are definitely inexpensive, but I never said they were low quality. However, they definitely are not high quality. They're a great boot for the price.

There are shoemaker companies that make boots that are made based on the sizing issue information that you provide.
I have a pair of rm Williams Chelsea that I love. Very comfortable and look great. Might try a pair of grant stone Chelsea in black next.

With the elastic they should have the top closed in and you have to pull it open to put your feet in and that way they would more snug around the leg.

yeah, that's a unique experience. I've never had that happen with pair I've owned. I would definitely try on some more pairs!
Get a different pair it wounds like those aren't the right fit. Perfectly fitting chelsea boots are the most comfortable boots you can get.
