Some of the most painful services are under the dashboard! A lot of fragile parts and sharp edges to hurt your hands... Fortunately you have parts available at yor country; here in Brazil it's not easy to find and the charges are high... I think your dash may be restored later, even by somebody else, so if you can keep it stored as it will be harder to find in the future... Regards!
Luckily, there's a great supply of dashboards here. I can fairly regularly find a W124 with a nice dash in the junkyard. My original was in REALLY bad shape and went right into the garbage bin 😂 Compared to W126, it's actually not too bad to remove W124. I got the procedure down to about 45 mins for removal without breaking anything. You're right about the painful services though- I cut up my hands a lot during this process. I had considered replacing the heater core and evaporator - but thought it was a better idea to leave alone for now 🙂 The vacuum pods were trashed though!
What color is your interior? I can always keep an eye out. I run into a decent amount of W126 and W124 at junkyards. Enough that I have found a few completely mint 3rd brake lights
@@bsclifton if you come across another armrest with storage that would be great. Could use a rebuildable turbo too. If you find anything ill be happy to pay for your time. Thanks. Robert

I have been looking for a parts car to keep my 87 300d alive. I have been looking for center brake light but they are all melted.
