Congratulations!! 🎉 I just wanted to say as a prospective transfer student - not specifically Stanford - you’re advice, thoughts, and reflections having been extremely uplifting throughout this process. Thank you for expanding the network of transfer students and creating resources! Amazing work.
Congrats!! 🎉🎉 Some video ideas: -The main transfer essay, and how to show personality "appropriately" -How to maximize the additional information session, and what is relevant to clarify/add (dos and don'ts) -Also, any "red flags" for admission officers we should address? I really appreciate you doing this Joel! Thank you S2
My extracurriculars looking empty. I want to do actives worth my time and passion, but I do not know what I really enjoy doing yet. So maybe advice on how to find what you really like doing?
Take a look at what you do right now, and see if there's a way of making it more official and engaging -- if you spend a lot of time looking at fashion, see if there's maybe a way you can get involved in fashion marketing or find a way of getting involved in sustainable fashion or something like that. If you spend a lot of your free time watching stand-up comedy or shows, maybe consider finding an organization or online community that does writing prompt competitions or try your hand at writing your own stuff! I would say that's a great first step, but the next best thing is just to go and do things. Spend a non-trivial amount of time getting familiar with the space (this depends on how busy you are, could be two weeks, could be several months) and if you're not finding yourself thinking about this things on your off time, cut it out of your life and keep searching. Also, look at the people who inspire you professionally, and see what they do in their off time. That might give you some inspiration on what to try on your own
Congratulations !!! It’s definitely been amazing and eye-opening journey to watch unfold from your first handful of videos to now. I’d love to hear you reflect on how the school has especially helped to cultivate & promote your-and other transfers-growth via their outreach and resources. Growth here could be defined as anything academic to social inclusion!
Hey Ariana!! I saw that you joined the Zoom - i’m so sorry that I missed you. I was on the east coast attending a conference and wasn’t able to host the session this week. For those who aren’t in the group chat (which I provide at the end of the each session) I have no way of advertising reschedules. I think I’ll end up putting up a screen share in the future for when I can’t host the session that week. We have a makeup session this upcoming Monday at 6 PM - otherwise the schedule of first and third Thursday holds. Hope to see you there!
Perfect, I will definitely join! I think adding the full description on all your videos, including: exact dates, time and the link for connecting would be super helpful! It was a bit confusing for me (at least). But highly appreciate what you do!
Not a question about transferring but would love to see videos about getting a master's degree in ivy leagues like Stanford :) How competitive is this? Do you think international students have a good shot? Studying abroad used to be a pipe dream but watching your videos are really empowering :) Thanks for keeping dreams alive #hopeful ♡
Hi Joel! I would love to join an office hour with you this month. If it is the 3rd Thursday of July, would that be July 21? How do I schedule the time with you? I live in South Korea so I think there is a considerable time difference from the US. I would really appreciate it if you let me know. Thanks!
Congratulations!! 🎉
