This is my absolute favorite song on this album. It's about coming to terms about getting older. It reminds me of a Vikings battle scene, riding into battle on your horse and your heart is pounding. It's definitely I feel a manly song but we can all relate. Definitely a great story awesome journey!!!
Oh and it's even better Live!!!! Always pull up the lyrics when you react so you can try to understand what the songs about that's a whole other task lol😊💡 Like I said Tool is brain food a Tool for your mind, body, and soul.
I would disagree about this being a "manly" song. I recently lost my GF to ovarian cancer, and for the last 3 months this was her battle song. This song for me is about survival and facing your fears. Just my little opinion :)
I also appreciate that you paused less and just let the music take you.... Keep it up man. Spiral out Lateralus next please... The "spiral out" thing will make so much more sense afterwards. Welcome to the TOOl Army
That "autotuned" section; "Tears in my eyes, chasing Ponce de Leon's phantoms, so filled with hope, I can taste mythical fountains, false hope perhaps, but the truth never got, in my way, before now, feel the sting, feeling time bearing down..."
It's not autotuned, but the vocals are just lead through a guitar pedal effect. I have to admit, I'm not realy into this kind of effects on vocals, and certainly when it comes to Maynards vocals. His vocal performance is strong enough not to use any effects on his voice. I like the voices pure, even with some mistakes, it's more human and so more pure emotion. But that's my humble opinion.
@@petejung3122 I think he used the effect in that part of the song to try and make his voice sound a little bit younger. He's talking about finding the fountain of youth during that part of the song.... Just my opinion

Yes, and this album right here also takes on a whole new meaning for our current situations right now. Because it can be applied to everything going on right now!!!!
They played it in their march 11 set in Portland. Last show since the shutdown. Amazing they pull this off live. Adam sounded unbelievable cranked up in a basketball arena
@@stephengarvey509 Right, it's like Maynard found out something we didn't know yet and warned us a lil lol, kinda has all along for those who get it and willing to listen. (DMT) jkjk I know pretty well know the original meanings of the songs for the most part or at least the general meanings and how I related to them before all of this. But I work EMS🚑 and driving home from work not too long ago when all this first started It just hit me a different kind of way and I got even more emotional. Then I started thinking about a lot of other 💡Tool songs and how they can also relate to the current situation That's what I love about their music is it's always open to your own interpretations as well and can be applied to whatever is going on in your life to get you through and their music isn't dated no matter the topic. Definitely Masters of their craft that is certain!!!!
I think this song is about getting old, and no matter what you have accomplished, it doesn't matter, because it's always now. This song is as sad as you choose it to be
Tool is suuuch a good band and you have such good vibes. Good combo! ✨ I find that when people release Tool reactions every day it kinda gets too much for me! Maybe every other/every third day? Tool reactions is my favourite thing to watch on youtube, but they feel more special when you get to wait! :) I recommend ”Tool - Aenima” next! :D
Check out "Right in Two" by Tool! Also, you should get the lyrics nearby so you can get the full experience. A lot of songs can be very thought provoking. Love the vids!
That waiting is the definition of Progressive (Prog) either rock or metal, which Tool kinda plays around in between. But they are really big on that progressive/building feel to their music. To your point about the transitions, it's the slow building that makes them so seamless. Well...that and Danny can do some incredible things with odd time signatures that let them move more freely between "sounds".
“Tears in my eyes chasing Ponce de Leon’s phantoms; so filled with hope, I can taste mythical fountains. False hope, perhaps, but the truth never got in my way before now. Feel the sting. Feeling time bearing down.”
Pro-tip for you Swaggy, if you want to double the views you get for Tool videos start reacting to A Perfect Circle videos as well, MJK is the lead vocals for both bands.
Lmao. That’s not autotune, it’s more of a sound effect he using lol. Maynard likes to throw that in his songs sometimes throughout their albums, and it’s not always same sound effects he uses. I loved actually loved this album, even though a lot of fan was disappointed. I’m sitting here jamming to these songs, and thinking what the hell are these ppl expecting when the album came out? 50 songs or some shit that takes a month to finish? 🤷♂️
Nice video--but I still think you pause it too many times. There is a fluidity to Tool songs and the multiple pauses takes away from the pure experience. I know that some pauses are required..but just try to minimize them. Good job though. Enjoy your journey through Tool.
So funny how the auto tune through you off being that so much of popular music needs it just to sell bullshit music. The auto tune Maynard used was a jab being that the song is about an aging warrior(possibly musician) dealing with being out of place due to being older.

Fuk yeah , that's my fav tool song from 10000 days
Yessssss
Long in tooth and soul
Longing for another win
Lurch into the fray
Weapon out and belly in
Warrior struggling
To remain consequential
Bellow aloud
Bold and proud
Of where I've been
But here I am
Beating chest and drums
Beating tired bones again
Age-old battle, mine
Weapon out and belly in
Tales told of battles won
Of things we've done
Caligula would grin
Beating tired bones
Tripping through remember when
Once invincible
Now the armor's wearing thin
Heavy shield down
Warrior struggling
To remain relevant
Warrior struggling
To remain consequential
Cry aloud
Bold and proud
Of where I've been
But here I am
Where I end
Warrior struggling
To remain relevant
Warrior struggling
To remain consequential
Tears in my eyes
Chasing Ponce de Leon's phantom
So filled with hope
I can taste mythical fountains
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting
Feeling time bearing down
Tears in my eyes
Chasing Ponce de Leon's phantom
So filled with hope
I can taste mythical fountains
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting
Feeling time bearing down
False hope, perhaps
But the truth never got in my way
Before now, feel the sting
Feeling time bearing down
Bearing down

"Fear-in-knock-you-lum"
That works. Haha

You can honestly react to any TOOL. A bad TOOL song doesn't exist in my not so humble opinion!
You are absolutely right, a bad Tool doesn't exist
@paula great is an understatement, but you are absolutely right
Maynard's voice sounds beautiful. The melody. Like wow. And ofcourse adam is awesome and Danny. Well . Cheat code

Right in two was my favorite song all time before Pneuma.

Tool has never made a bad experience. Not songs experiences

I've noticed alot of comments about pausing too much. For TOOL, as long as it's just audio, you don't have to pause for copyright issues. Spiral out!
You put your "belly in" to protect your vitals during a battle.
