    Anybody who says some dumb shit like Larry Bird couldn't compete in today's NBA, I just ask them to explain why Luka Doncic is. Then I ask them "okay what if he was 2-3 inches taller and a significantly better shooter?"

    Magic and Bird saved the NBA.
    Bird was the GOAT at a time in basketball when the NBA actually had MORAL standards.
    They played the game, respected our country, and kept politics out of their sport.

      Today’s players respect the game and the country. Let’s also not forget that many of today’s players aren’t from America. Players are entitled to have an opinion whether you like it or not. The days of shut up and dribble are long gone.

      @@Bigkenny721Let's also not forget that the players most disrespecting the country are actually from here. We all have our opinions, but spouting them at work is largely frowned upon because it causes problems. Say what you want on your time, leave the bs out of your job.

    • @Bigkenny721
      @Bigkenny721  7 місяців тому +1

      @@maldad9073 we want athletes and entertainers to act like we would act at our jobs but they don’t work in normal conditions. The players participate in activities that the team and leagues deem appropriate without considering their actual stance on those things. Team owners are open about their political views and who they support but you expect players to not be able to express themselves as they see fit is a double standard. Most players that have protested have done it prior to the game and if it’s done during a game, it doesn’t affect the game one way or another. You just don’t care to see it and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m not one who wants to muzzle everyone I don’t agree with. We always throw disrespect of Country out there but this country was built on certain freedoms and they shouldn’t be taken away because people disagree with them.

    Not only Bird but Rick Barry,David Thompson,Mugsy Bogues and many others could play in any era if the refs called the travelling and carrying properly.What would todays guys do with a prime BillWalton or Bob MacAdoo...and no shoe deals.That said todays nba does not have views for a reason.

  • @robs8376
    @robs8376 7 місяців тому +6

    It hasn’t “Evolved”, it has “Devolved”; no fundamentals, traveling calls are nonexistent, etc etc… IMHO it started with Tark and UNLV in the late 80’s early 90’s “run and gun” bull crap. Since then, NBA players seem to be all about the “highlights” on sportscenter, don’t gaf about the team.

    • @Bigkenny721
      @Bigkenny721  7 місяців тому

      I disagree. The players are definitely more athletic today and are more skilled in certain areas of the game. The Showtime Lakers were a fast break team that ran as often as they could. Run and gun has always been a part of basketball, Red Auerbach loved the fast break. Now I’m not a huge fan of jacking threes the way they do now but other than that I’m still a fan of the NBA.

      There is evolution its just whether its good or bad based on opinion. What annoys me is when people mistake differences in officiating and conflate that with a skill advantage for modern players. When you can carry/travel more, and refs don't call it, you can do Allen Iverson style handles and no one can defend it. So offense becomes easier because the defense's job is harder. Combine that with what is now called for a foul -- can't land near a 3 point shooter when defending, very ticky-tacky calls, etc -- and you have a recipe that makes players look more skilled when the truth is they are just molding their skillset around what the rules/officiating allow in today's game. Transport one of today's superstars back to 1980 and every possession for them would get a whistle. They'd need to adjust.
