So apparently this is a story about murder. In an interview they said "the death of beauty" refers to the murder of a girl the band had known. Also this song does not refer to any christian aspects, just the christian symbol "doves" being pureness or a promise of life, but has essentially nothing to do with adam and eve. You should have gotten that by "Gloria" and "arrow in the throat" as they have nothing to do with the bible. The song is based off of symbolism from other religions and greek mythology, so says the band mates. It's a really great song, though I still can't seem to grasp the entire story until I research what all of these symbols mean. Also the garden in this refers to something pure, where discord represents the death of said pure thing, being the girl that was murdered that they are singing about. "The sea's wine red" refers to blood and the whole second part of the first verse "give your immortality to me I'll set you up against the stars" is saying "I'll take your life (by killing you) and your soul will not inhabit this earth anymore." Its actually pretty obvious once you start reading the lyrics. I still have no idea what they lied about but I am still trying to figure it out!

I could be completely wrong with this, but when you hear about lovers lying, it usually means someone is cheating on the other. I think it could be that one of the lovers thought that the other was cheating on them (Taking a shot at the lie/apple on the other's head) but they hadn't. But they didn't know it until after they had killed them. Alternatively, one of the lovers WAS cheating on the other, and the anger and blame was passed on to someone innocent, that was later murdered.
