Helloween and R.W. History of some fucking beginnings of True Metal 🤘🏻 Dark Avenger stuff, something special.
Hellhammer's tracks are sartorial as far as future blackened death metal is concerned; I recently saw Tryptikon at Vagos Open Air, Portugal, and it's crystal clear that Tom is carrying on the legacy he kick-started in 1982-3, always improving and expanding in artistic terms what Hellhammer generated.. I wish there were still some Grave Hill rh tapes around, just for archaelogical purposes ! :) Running Wild then were heavy weight pirates, Dark Avenger were pretty apt stalwarts of euro power metal, with a Biff Byffard-y voice and Helloween were already riding the sky in a nightlly wild hunt ! Hell, I miss 1984, after all.
Running Wild is that sweet spot between thrash and power metal; a sound premanent between late '83 - '85 now accepted as "speed metal" but so much more than that...Hellhammer is killing Venom and everyone else in their path, Dark Avenger is anthemic traditional heavy metal, Helloween is a more evil Iron Maiden..what a comp and point in time!!

This is genienuly some great speed metal, best of those years... and for the tip. this was the ''Death Metal'' of that time XDDDD or just the name of the split. Also, Helloween, Orenst of Life, what a killer track mother of solos.

Discogs é uma boa, mas se for caro vão te taxar até o rabo pra importar, além da demora
I just listened to the two Dark Avenger tracks on this sampler for the first time. They were amazing! (Despite the fact, that the voice of their singer is anoying but even though I don't understand why they stopped making music.) Theese two songs are masterpieces in heavy metal history.

Fuck it. By the Venom logic, Running Wild, Hellhammer, Dark Avenger, and Helloween created Death Metal. What are the Possessed fans going to do now?
Funny how most of this album has little to do with Death Metal, even Hellhammer are closer to Black Metal than Death. The rest is classic German would-be Power Metal.
Not in 84, what you think is DM is probably the later, florida, all produced at morrisound cookie cutter stuff.
At that time there was a magazine called Death Metal, started by Thomas Fischer and Martin Ain of Hellhammer and Celtic Frost.

Progster0192 Back then the lines were still being drawn regarding metal genres/subgenres,and black metal was somewhat more defined by lyrics than sound/style. If you read the early RW lyrics,especially the 1st album,they definitively fall into black metal territory. Always liked RW since the beginning.
