25:38 guitat intro interlaced with Cliff Burton bass. So good!!
Cliff that's awesome
This heavy metal compilation is amazing. Trauma with Cliff Burton is so rad. Metallica with Cliff Burton (and Dave Mustaine) is awsome. Overkill the Punk Metal Band is awesome, same for the thrash metal band, Overkill. Aloha with Marty Friedman is cool. Other than that, hail Trauma, Aloha, Both Overkill’s and Metallica:).
THank you.
Not to forget, Marty Friedman in Aloha & Jeff Martin in Surgical Steel.
Metal Massacre one through six were my bible for a few years in the early 80's, a lot of seminal stuff.
Still love spinning them.
On the first compilation, Hit the Lights was sung by Dave Mustaine , if you didn't know (rare)
Don't forget Greg Chaisson that later went to play with Jake E Lee in Badlands. He was in Surgical Steel when Rivit head was done.
Surgical Steel. My God I used to see their ads in Circus magazine. Do they have anything on UA-cam?
This reminds me of the old tape trading culture of the 80s, the kind of stuff you’d here, edgy and fresh, the piss poor production actually gave it a primal charm.
Exactly that was the beauty and essence of these compilations, straight from demo tape onto vinyl; a great way to find out about bands which you had not already heard of via tape trading. Fantastic collection all together.
I remember that. It all started with Salem Spade for me.
Like taping Maximum rock n roll off kpfa Berkeley.
#not so quiet on the western front
#🎉
I bought this as a combo MM 2+ 3 tape from metal blade. Next thing I bought was Slayer's first tape.
As I Live in Phoenix, I remember seeing notices for Surgical Steel concerts in the early 80's. I was in high school then and probably couldn't see the band then. My musical tastes changed while I was attending Carl Hayden High School. but I was listening to Metal when I was graduated in 1984.
So awesome. My youth. Headbang
Nice selection of songs. Armored Saint on 1982 , before they release their first LP , Trauma with Cliff Burton I suppose (just before he joined Metallica) , Overkill the punk band (not the thrash band) , the amazing Hyksos , and the famous-to-become Warlord.
I'll tell you a little story when that record came out on vinyl it was just absolutely horrible I was so embarrassed that my band members from Overkill would even put out such a piece of shit record. Now that I listen to it I actually liked the guitar remix because it was done with my Hundred watt Marshall and an old orange cabinet
Ah, the glory days of my youth. Great stuff, introduced me to good bands of which I bought albums and learned guitar. Favorites include Armored Saint and Obsession. Loved getting high to Mind Invader, nice guitar solo.
Every song on this MM kicks major ass, especially side 2.
IMO the best MM from the first SIX . Good memo bak`dayZ Killer Compilation
I have this album on vinyl.
🎉🎉❤❤❤
ALL BANDS KICK BRUTAL ASS....... THANKS.... FABENS,TX.
The Kings was recorded in one take with the exception of a few back up vocals. New music is available.
Gonzalez bros on guitar
One of the best songs,it is high quality in spite of that fact. That's when you know a band is awesome.
The best you could get ,lose any one without the guts!
Yes number 2 is the best
Lesson Well Learned - Armored Saint with john bush on vocals BOY DOES HE SOUND DIFFERENT
And still sounds better than Joey.
In my opinion, their demo tape and 12" EP were the best and heaviest
top of the mountaine stuff.
There's a lot of pretty cool stuff on this album. I don't know if it's the best Metal Massacre, but it was worth the listen. Just maybe a couple of bad songs like Dietrich and Aloha. Why anyone would name a heavy metal band Aloha is beyond me, though. :)
Because the came from Hawaii, they subsequently then renamed themselves Hawaii, Marty Friedman was in that band in all forms. Its him on this.
@@caveman385 Aloha, Hawaii, Vixen, Malisha
I thought Dietrich song was pretty good I saw them play at a punk show in Riverside California at the barn back in 1982 after this record came out
@@felicelococo9226 That must have been interesting!
@@davidjenson1570 it was. Do you know how punks showed their displeasure for the hair bands of the 80s? They'd first start circle dancing the band, then they'd start spitting at them. If they didn't get off the stage, the punks would start throwing everything not tied down at them. We explained that in a documentary we did called The pioneers of l.a. hard rock and heavy metal. I'll get the video.
🤘🤘🤘
Too bad none of Armored Saints records sounded as badass as this.
joey Leverton dude you are high as fuck ? This production is bleak compared to march of the Saint and the second. Lp
