Used to go and sit in the wee cafe here with my wee mum when i was a kid for fish and chips all the time. I'm 45 now. Great memories of this place. RIP Mum.
I remember a few years ago, Scotland were playing Italy at football, and the Scottish fans started singing “we’re going to deep fry your pizza, deep fry your pizza” 😂
The owner was such a nice man. Your face was priceless when you tried the pickled onion. My grandfather used to pickle everything, so I'm sure onions were included. The fried pork ribs were not appetizing. Fried onion pizza....not for me. Glad you enjoyed it. I would have enjoyed the deep fried Mars bar and ice cream. Thanks, Danny! 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧

The mobile chippy van in Topcliffe should be on your list Danny, if you live in Leeds it's not too far for you to travel. A quiet village just off the A1. It's usually there on Fridays from 5-7pm, the highlight of my day after a miserable, stressful day at work. (And i'm extremely fussy with chippy's and don't often find one I approve of! The best one I've ever tried throughout the UK in my opinion) cheers
Pie Should have been £4.00 on the price board, £6.00 pie supper. Genuine error, it happens. Food looked good and fish n chips was fair priced.. I’d give the battered pickled onion a miss though.😊
as a kid we used to go swimming at the Lagoon Leisure centre, then down to Castlevichi always for a half pizza supper (onion) What a great day out that was back in the 80s ! :)
Mate, unbelievable. I lived above that place for the first five years of my life. Is the Bagotelli machine still there? The girls that worked there would give me a 2P to play it and hold me up so I could see. The owners are beautiful people. Even after I moved away, every time I went in they would still give me a can of Pepsi on the house when I bought a bag of chips. My Dads local was right across the street too. Brilliant.
Absolutely starving now! King ribs are immense 😁Danny, you never heard of tablet??? Like fudge but more of a crumble… not to be mistaken for a custard cream pmsl😂
Been going there since I was a young lad. Best chippy and the original and best half pizza and fritters. Also amazing to sit in and have a lovely wee fish tea and the macaroni is beautiful aswell. 5 star
scottish tablet ice cream yum i love tablet and miss it so much because in england its not really a thing but that food all looked lovely esp the fish n chips and i hate to say it the battered mars and ice cream was the show stoppers for me.
If you go into Thorntons and look at their loose chocolates you will see tablet, and no I don't mean fudge, they will give you a sample to try before you buy.
Wow danny the guy really looked after you , great hospitality, to me he really sold his food, he gave you quite a feast , a good advert for himself, to attract people to his chipshop , well he impressed me anyway,
That chipmunk audio gets me everytime !! 🤣Amazing, Danny literally just out of his van and a couple of fans want selfies with him, incredible following !! Danny asks is this the original counter, owner says, well yeah, it's had 14 new tops and 20 new fronts !! Triggers counter 😆
Fish suppers ok every once in a while and, for a special treat. You will need to try Marco's in Arbroath. Sit at the harbour and, enjoy the scenery whilst eating it. Another is Murray's in Broughty Ferry. Sit at the castle and enjoy the scenery.
There's a lot of people in Scotland deeply embarrassed by the existence of the battered Mars Bar and the way other countries say its one of our national dishes. It's a bit of fun everyone and we should own it and be proud of it, it's bit of banter that shows we have a good sense of humour and don't take our selves too seriously.
I remember when they used to serve them potato fritters in our local chippy, but they were called "Specials" back then. Can't get em anymore, at least not near me.
I’m a paisley lad and castlevecchi great chippy normally get a fish chips and half cheese and onion pizza crunch ( as seen in video) oh and curry sauce. Love it but will getting a deep fried picked onion s sounds terrific 😋
£6 for single steak pie and bqq fried pork ribs . Extra fried pickled onion, fried pizza and fried mars bar and ice cream all put in as spent £25 on fish n chips curry sauce etc😢😮

The guy made a mistake he charged you for suppers, a single steak pie or a king rib is £4.00, but he made up for it with extra things, great video👍
Typical catholic bam from the west coast of Scotland. Ripping folk off.
No mistake, standard practice for wops

It is a good chippy a proper old fashioned place and Paolos dad is a proper gent too.
Papa Nutini IS a true gent. One of the old school!!!!

Paisley in Glasgow mind

Your in a chip shop and wonder why it’s fried 😂 😂
I turned on the closed captions - it was having a melt-down with the Glasgee accents 🤣

Aww you can't beat a good deep fried mars bar!! You should try one, I'm in Renfrew, although they do taste even better after a few swallys 😂😂
65 years on the NE Coast of Scotland never seen one, I did see them on the menu in one Chippy in Glasgow years ago, so Scottish tradition it is not.

@Beanster001 I have felt no embarrassment after 65 years, so I very much doubt I will start to feel any now.
