Thanks for the shout out! The amount of Lidar data for the US is rapidly increasing and more and more is available through various online gis sites without having to do any processing. I need to start back up doing more videos. New baby has kept me busy for the past three months lol.

Maybe that’s why you never got back to me. Wanted to pay you for a map since I can’t seem to get it to work. But with patent costs among other things, that’s not happening at this point.

So grateful you made this video. I occasionally need it watch parts again as a refresher if its been a while since I've done an import. Thank you so much!
the 3dep slope map is crazy, it reveals so many old roads in my area, there's tons that have been over taken by trees and brush, some of the roads have large trees right in the center that must be 100+ years old which means the road is older than that.
Thanks for providing this information for the community. This is a fairly complicated process. Don't think I could do it without your help in this video.😎⛏⛏🔥🔥
Thanks Chuck. It is complicated. I've spent hours trying to figure out how to do this. Following along to this video show get you pretty close. Hope to see you get good use out of this technology.
Thank you! I've been trying to figure this out for a while. Thanks for doing the walk through and showing every step. I subscribed and am going to download the stuff from your website. Thanks again man!!!
Oh my goodness. Thank you! Version 9 is very different so definitely download the version he is using in this video. I couldn't figure it out in the new version.
Really good stuff with the maps.... Been there a few times and dredged there right off that fan and found my share of 22s off that tall pile. Can't wait to try this on my claims.
I'm new to this lidar stuff. That TV explorer Lin uses it in South America. I've been trying to find lidar maps for northern California, Siskiyou County area. Not having much luck with this phone. Same problem with finding info on gold, active/inactive claims for the whole area, etc. Looking for an area that has at least flakes in it. Acquaintance wants me to teach him gold panning.
Exactly as I try to do for all my seamless USA needs - start with 1m DEMs. When that is not available, or when I want a refined area at higher quality, I proceed to the Elevation Source Data (3DEP) - Lidar, IfSAR section and grab the point cloud. But a project area of 1m might take an hour to process; the source data LiDAR can take days.
OMG, this is awesome. I've been trying to figure out how to access lidar data for a while now, and I was able to follow your direction for my area. Thank you so much! Does anyone know what the red lines that show up on the Google Earth import are? It looks like someone's gps trail. ???
GREAT video, excellently done and easy to follow........ Question, my lidar is not clear or detailed at all and think it is due to cellsize? My cell size says like0.0012 or some number like that, any ideas? I chabged it to 1. 1-5 and still not good. Anyway THANK YOU!!!

9:11 when I hit the load button it won't export it to google earth.. I get an error message every time I try. The data loads in SAGA fine. Guess I'll have to use lakes and streams as landmarks to find the data on my locations.
@@MiningMagnets Got it working now. When I go to export it the default cell size is 0.00029 and that's the allowable maximum, but the imported layer is too grainy to be of any use. I've tried it with two sets of data from my location, one is 1/3 arc second and the other is 1/9th arc second. In SAGA the layers appear as they should with full image definition.
Excellent! Thank you, But all goes good as you say except the 1.5 cell size before export, mine is like 0.00558 and it will not let me change it (I do but it exports with very little detal and blurry ish)... Any ideas?
Have you used this with the 1/3 arc level? My area is only available in 1/3 and after following all your steps, and using the default cellsize of .00008, and still comes out very blurry and grainy and useable in the final map view. Is that arc level unusable until I get the 1 meter available?

Can the LiDSR maps be viewed without exporting to Saga GIS as you did? I downloaded an area from the USGS site and downloaded SAGA 7 but this program requires macOS11.2 or later. My old Mac can only be updated to 10.15.7. Do you know if an earlier SAGA program can be used to open the LiDAR map I downloaded?
just delve into importing lidar into GE pro and found this vid....everything worked however the file I downloaded and exported into GE Pro is blurry at zoom levels where its crisp in SAGA

Play with the cell size setting in the export window. Smaller the better but too small and it will use up all your ram
How do you stitch them together? do you do that in this program or photoshop?
The same program. Can make a large area. but its hard for google earth to handle. But works good in the 3D viewer
