This seems like a hit piece on Machiavelli tbh more than a critique of his work. Machiavelli was actually a huge purporter of Democracy. He wrote The Prince because a ruler had commissioned him to do it for his weak son (the titular prince). The thing Machiavelli hated more than dictatorship was anarchy and chaos that happens in power vacuums, seeing just how awful unchecked warfare and abuse of the weak can become from firsthand experience. He was also navigating that same world of intrigue and betrayals, often being accused of being anti-nobility and a usurper to the other city states of the Italian peninsula because of his advocacy for democracy and the rights of the common man. But it should be noted that throughout the work he constantly pushes the reader (the prince) to embrace ethics and morality and make moves to be loved as a ruler; but if the choice HAS to be made, it's better to be feared because without fear the entire thing comes crashing down because it's human nature to constantly check authority and you should do whatever you have to or else you invite your own deposition and succession wars after. I honestly doubt many tyrants actually read The Prince; if they did the principles within seemed to go over their heads; and you provide no evidence or support of your claim that they did. I'm kind of wondering if the video creator read it cover to cover either or just saw a wiki article and did some skimming for a video presentation.
Machiavelli just wrote about what he witnessed. It’s widely known that Machiavelli wasn’t machiavellian. And most of his statements are very true, if you like it or not.
Oh, how the sometime use, turns up at critical moments or becomes the norm. The fundamental orientation becomes anti-compassion. An argument that this is the basis for anything greater than bullying and/or terrorism to manipulate others and subjugate their will is simply gaslighting. On the other hand, a fundamental orientation of compassion is generative.

@@PhilosophyFanatic-SEvil is not human nature. Evil is unnatural. One ought to never do evil with the intention of obtaining some good.
This is terrifying, the fact is that this is happening in a more subtle way in 1st world countries.
Yes! It's a BAD news
loved it bro
Yes
The state is owned and gouvern by rulers not by people.
actually malarchy is caused by ignoring The Prince ❤ AI is still backwards
Nero and Caligula were machiavellian before Machiavelli.
Ideology is not philosophy. Lazy language corrupts communication.
I am correcting it now. Thanks for letting me know
Ideology stems from philosophy.
and others are trying to spread this as being wise or cunning. how shamefull
