  • ive had this 2000 Terramite T5C Compact Tractor Loader Backhoe for about 19 years, and has served me well until today, the engine has let the parts inside go where they want, and that's not good, let's scrounge around some junk engines and see if we can fix it up.

I've been watching Darren for years now and the one thing that amazes me most is how much of everything he does, he does by himself. Yes, this does show everyone that most things if done safely can be done on your own. I'm much the same way, something about working alone (the camera not withstanding) that lets you work at your own pace in a quiet atmosphere with no distractions. Your own personal ASMR if your will. Thanks Mustie.

I don't exactly prefer working alone, and it makes some things way harder, but going solo is definitely better than help that... Isn't.

True.. For many folks that work independently, it is a choice.. not a burden. Research, planning and time management are lessons learned more readily when working alone. I find my Plan B is of importance going solo.

On those shaft pulleys, (or yokes) pull the set screw out, fill the hole with 10 wt oil, run the set screw back in fast with an impact.
If you try it a few times with several types of lube it will force lube into the pulley center.

I do not often comment on video that I watch, however I will on this one.
Mustie I have to say that you approach repairs / troubleshooting the way I was taught.
You can tell that your skill set is enhanced by your vast experience, you have a very old school way of approaching problems and I really would like to acknowledge that.
Rather than dumping parts at the issue, you get in there and find a way to overcome the problem using logic reasoning and good old fashioned mechanical skill.
I have watched your videos for a couple of years now and with your skill set and honest approach I will keep watching you truly are a one of a kind on you tube!!

Terramies are great little machines. Dug a 16 foot deep well with one of the earlier ones back in 1984-85. Teared down to get that deep. Last 6 feet was through shale. Only had one mishap, blew out the rubber bushing coupler while clean out a wet drainage ditch, ended up changing it right there in the muck. Talk about fun.

I'm quite pedantic about spelling normally... Didn't even notice it because all I saw was his backhoe and username. I don't bother reading his video titles anymore because I'm going to watch them regardless.

I have work on and repaired more of those engines than I can count? Lincoln Ranger 250 and 225 models used the Koehler Command 20 engines. Some of those engines went more than 5000 hours before needing a lot of attention. Others have had issues right out of the gate? A lot of carburetor issues, ignition coils, voltage regulators, push rods, and levitating dip sticks. Not too many catastrophic failures. Good engines, you just have to listen to them. When they tell you something isn’t right stop and address it sooner rather than later.

Looks like you may have to use one of those other blocks and various parts from all 3 to build a new one. I can’t wait to see you pull the old one down and see what broke

it would be nice to see you do an autopsy on the old engine and also a video (maybe the same video) making a good engine out of all of those ones you have. that would make an interesting video for sure

He's not a rocket scientist, but I bet he could be one. I've read a lot of the comments and I am the only one that the whining seems to bother, what a Weido I am. Another impossibility made possible by a mechanical genius. Man, what talent.

That was a really interesting video, especially as I, like every other grown up little boy want's to have a Back Hoe/ front loader to play on, so I was just willing it to work out. Looking forward to the autopsy on the old engine and to see if your mnagic will work on the two donor engines to make another spare for something that will happen along anytime soon.

I almost died laughing when you straightened the pushrods with a hammer . That is exactly what i did on my Honda 90 every weekend after thrashing it all week. Tecumseh made excellent engines ,it is a shme they were bought out by a bunch of unscrupulous businessmen that folded it . Their quality was way better than those other guys. B&S.
