it's semi-well known that some third party sticks don't work all that well with the 8bitdo mod, i have a modded n64 controller with the stock stick with kitch-bent replacement parts and it's working perfectly, no issues what so ever in games
Have you considered going into the Switch settings and calibrating the stick? lots of third party things out the box handle a lot better after doing that. And I would like to see how this works on Parallel/Retroarch
I built one of these ten days ago. I've only used it on my Steam Deck, but I have no complaints with wireless performance or the hall effect stick. I've beaten Banjo-Kazooie with it, played modern games like Minecraft with it, used it with Bluetooth headphones, played split-screen multiplayer with several other Bluetooth controllers connected to the same machine... Ironically, the one complaint I have about the mod kit is that the rumble pack (with the home button) has the mode switch awkwardly positioned on a contact point, where the controller would rest on the table. I have accidentally flipped the switch once and been very confused by the behavior. That switch should have been inset so it could not brush against something accidentally. The only wireless quirk I've seen was when my Bluetooth headphones were performing poorly and the software stack on the PC end preferred minimizing audio latency over other devices (causing a buffering delay in the controller input). Just bringing the headphones closer allowed everything to catch up and I didn't even have to reconnect.
It seems like a good alternative to the NSO controller. It may need some joystick calibration done via Steam Input or something similar. I think you can also use an OEM joystick module for that OG stick range.
My blue retro receiver keeps swapping inputs. Not sure if its updating the firmware properly. Cause they say it will work with it and i've seen other people say it works.
@@ArchadesGames I don't prefer the GC style stick and personally have a lifetime supply of original tight sticks for myself, but if the 8bitdo stick is almost as good, it might allow preservation of the N64 gaming into the future for all, as well as allow me to stop having to clean, lubricate, and switch out original sticks as often. I'm hoping.
I've got this kit (with included 8bitdo hall sensor stick), as well as a blue retro reciever, although I haven't updated to latest firmware so it requires turning the controller on and pressing sync prior to turning on N64. My stick readouts are far closer to an OG controller than you what you demonstrated in the video - not quite sure why yours looks so bad on the testing rom!

Congrats glad it works to your standards, mine isn't good enough for me so I happily converted it back to a standard wired controller instead.

Well 8bitdo is actually releasing an n64 controller this year
We'll see how that goes
Considering it seems to be just an ultimate controller with n64 buttons I much prefer the retro-bit wireless tribute
