    Habe den Holzvergaser nachgebaut und getestet.Fazit : Super Teil ! Funktioniert wirklich mit allem was brennt.

    I made a few, and i realized that there is an optimal size as far as how small you can go before too much heat is lost. I also used double walled containers and double boilers. I found that if you go lower than 3 inches, it sucks.

    Just finished my first attempt at your style of woodgas stove. Fired it up with some wood chips (gardening mulch) and very pleased with the results. Thanks for your guidance mate, I'd been looking for a system that didnt need too many tools etc and yours works great. I was lucky enough to get a flask at the charity shop (St Vinnies) for $1 and burnt one drill bit out so total cost about $8. Thanks again mate.

    Thanks for sharing. I like the idea of using an insulated container so you can have single piece construction. Plugging the exterior holes at the top may improve it. I'm not sure why some people are actually offended by this post. I guess some people will always find something not to like!

    Thanks. I have made a few of these and they work superbly. They burn more efficiently with a cleaner flame and produce much less blackening of utensils. I have done a lot of testing with tin can wood stoves and with this type of stove. The super heated air rises up and into the center through the top holes , it pulls some fresh air in from the outside through the top holes. This is then mixed with the wood gas and burns with a cleaner flame that is less yellow. The tin can stoves have a very yellow flame and coat the utensils with heavy soot. These are both indicates of incomplete burning. All you have to do is look at the flame to see the difference.

    Clever solution.
    Like the fact that no welding or cutting is involved.
    Except for the "X" support on top, which should be easy because it's a flat sheet of metal.

    might want to plug the top's holes on the outside, otherwise the air for the secondary combustion wont be preheated. easy to make an aluminum ring to cover it.

  • @9w2xyz
    @9w2xyz 8 років тому

    I cant hear what you are saying but thank you for posting. Most of the designs do not have external holes at the top to the stove. If you want that closed, you can simply use a hose clip .. the type with a flat metal band to cover those holes, which will force the vents to draw heated air into the top of the burn chamber.
    Is there a reason you are doing it like this?

    • @Kube_Dog
      @Kube_Dog 7 років тому +1

      He doesn't know what he's doing is the reason. He wants it to be easy -- that's the hook -- so he just drilled straight through and, because of the exterior holes, totally lost the gasifier effect. Another idiot who doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't care.

    • @bluewondercanoe
      @bluewondercanoe 6 років тому

      ok - this is your opinion. Think about this: every Wood stove is a woodgas-stove ! Wood does`nt burns. Heat the Wood by Initiation and the woodgas will burning. _ This is my thinking - noz the ultimate Religion ;-)

    • @davefloyd9443
      @davefloyd9443 3 роки тому

      Dead right mate. The secondary air is able to enter directly from atmosphere through the sidewalls. It is therefore both reducing the pressure of the heated gas that needs to rise between the two skins to be burnt as it enters the top of the stove through the secondary air intakes and it is also allowing unheated fresh air to enter from outside, negating the performance benefits of gasification .
      TLDR: The guy built a pretty twig stove because he misunderstood the physics of a gasification stove.

The stove i made is still very basic, so i will improve it with your suggetions and come back to you. What do you think of the burning quality of pellets that are pressed from leaves? Will it burn as good as woodpellets?

    If i want a flame that burns longer than 60mins, do i go wider and flat or narrow and tall? I have built a stove with 240x90mm burning chamber, but it only burns the top third (60mins) and then dies out! I see that you know what you are doing, so would apreciate your professional advice!! Thanks in advance!

    • @woodgasfire4422
      @woodgasfire4422  8 років тому

      +Ricarda Schaeg I think that you are using woodpellets, right? I mean, if the burning chamber is to high and thus the filling level , then the woodpellets are copressed by his own weight. And therfore you have to little airflow from the primary air intake. A minimum of primary air is important for enough draft. Enough draft is important for enough heat in the burning chamber. Enough heat in the burning chamber is good for the draft. To much primary air makes a to high flame, I think. To high flame makes a black pot and reduces the burnung time.
      It´s a vivioue circle.
      The solution could be to go wider, or you drill a ring of holes in the middle of the burning chamber. If the stove is fully loaded with pellets, are these holes additionally primary air,and after the level of woodpellets is sinking below these holes by combustion, these holes comes to additionally secondary air - it´s worth a try...
      Or you create an new stove like this : ua-cam.com/video/iKCjBLE6ANg/v-deo.html
      This stove burns 1,5 hours at once. The key ist the air intake regulation. For lighting : full air. When the gasification is coming : reduce the air to a flame you like. And reduce, reduce, reduce... then comes the point of the end your first third: you can maximize the air intake to a flame you like.
      There are some vids on youtube about regulated air intake - and there are many ways...
      I hope you can understand my english , and I hope I could help you.
      Greeting vom Germany - Uwe

I have hit the wall that everybody has run into; for this I wanted to build my own container and then treat it like you did. For this I was wondering if you could help me with some measurements. I saw the test and it was beautiful. So I need the measurements of the base diameter. The top ring diameter. The height from the bottom to where the upper ring starts and finally the height of the upper ring. I understand if you can provide the information, and thank you in advance for this wonderful video!

    Here is the useful replacement of the audio:
    1 buy cheap stainless steel short thermos
    2 toss out plastic parts
    3 drill holes in a ring around the top of side
    4 drill holes in ring bottom of side
    5 drill holes in bottom
    Done. Fill with sticks or wood pellets and light it. Put pot on top when fire is going well. Flames burn out the top side holes like a gas stove...

      You are exactly right. Sometimes these uploaders try their build and when it doesn't work right, they just upload the build (not the product testing) and drop out of sight. That's what I call a douche-bag.

      Again, he didn't build a gasifier. Maybe he intended to, with the best of intentions, and only realized at the end he had it wrong. Okay, but then you don't post the video and lie about what you've done. He is mis-leading people. People who might imitate his work, thinking they're doing good and building what they need, only to find out at the end it's crap. The douche who uploaded this video knows it's not a gasifier from the first time he fired it up, if not before. Yet the video stays up to waste people's time. I'm sorry, but that's not what a nice person does. You obviously think I'm a bad person, but that doesn't change the fact that this douche is lying about what he's built and wasting people's time.

    • @candaceglover2456
      @candaceglover2456 7 років тому

      okay, I understand your point of view. he did not build a gasifier, so that was misleading. but still its a little inaproppriate to call someone names when you don't know them. so I'm glad we're burying the hatchet. thank you and I love your profile pic with the dog in sunglasses.

      +woodgasfire - I built a larger one out of two different sized gas bottles, I cut them off so the smaller diameter one fitted in the larger one. I drilled holes in the inner one, roughly 4/1- top/bottom for primary and secondary. I drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom of the outer one (but not at the top. I welded the two together at the top and it worked within 15/20 mins the secondary burn started and I have an efficient firepit - many thanks for the inspiration! Next up Im going bigger. I would like to figure a way of harnessing a bit more of the heat though without enclosing the fire too much.

      There's a build guide for a gasifying Burn Barrel, using 2 ea. 55 gallon drums. Metal, ofc.
      Part of the process is cutting a strip from the side of one, to shrink it's diameter so it can be the inner barrel, and then it's screwed & welded back together. I think there's like a 2-3 inch gap between inner and outer...

    No audible commentary.No text..No dimensions.No burn demonstration. But aside from that, a real waste of time. Mille grazia.

  • @Kube_Dog

    Holes at top outside are WRONG. Probably at bottom too, but can't see. Anyway, exterior top holes mess up the airflow. It probably burns wood okay, but it's not a gasifier and so you don't have the benefits of a gasifier. Shame to tear up that nice container. Like in real estate, seek the best use of your property. Keep the container intact and make a gasifier PROPERLY with tin cans, paint can and progresso, old buckets, etc.

      Hey this is my way! If your way is different - it´s ok.

    • @Kube_Dog
      @Kube_Dog 7 років тому +4

      No, it's either a gasifier or it's not. And it's not. If it's "your way" of doing a wood-burning camp stove, yes, of course, that's fine, as I acknowledged above. But it's not "your way" of doing a gasifier, because it's not a gasifier. If you're still not understanding, try this: you can't build a diesel engine that doesn't run on diesel, then say it's just "your way" of building a diesel engine. No, it's not a diesel engine. And this isn't a gasifier. I'm not being mean. Just stating the facts so a person who wants to build a gasifier, believes this is one because you say so, then invests their time and effort only to find it isn't, can be spared all that.

      I've wasted my time doing things off YT, only to discover the guy claiming he knew what he was teaching was a total idiot. I imagine these idiots waste other people's time too, not just mine. It's not cute when a person is really trying to learn and might spend hours and money, only to find he/she was mislead by a douche-bag who just wanted to see his ass on YT. That's the real troll. I don't know how you don't understand what I'm saying, but okay. Whatever.

      Mate it is a gasifier - gasification occurs in the reactor vessel. The 'through-holes' in the top reduce the preheating of the secondary air reducing the efficiency of the stove - but it's still a gasifier.

      I'm making little camp stoves for the homeless using small canisters, I get blue diamond salted caramel almonds, those are for me, the canisters are for making the stoves. I noticed how you changed drill bits for a bigger hole, when I make the camp stoves now I'm going to start with a smaller diameter bit to make the work easy. So, THANK YOU!

      Correct. Sorry you wasted your time. It's because of the exterior top holes. Maybe if you can close them, maybe glue a metal band over them, it will work. I dunno. Always watch at least 3 or 4 videos, because 90% of these boneheads don't know what they're doing. And make a note of the 10% who do.
