- Aldi have started to sell what they call an espresso maker. Is it an espresso maker or just a Moka Pot. I brought one of the £6 coffee brewers to put to the test and review. Is it really that good?
Got this in the US for 10$, it works AMAZING and makes delicious coffee. Also the maintenance is so simple. Just wash and rinse with plain water and a clean washcloth. You can also deep clean with white vinegar. For those who don't know this, NEVER USE SOAP ON A MOKA POT.
You're right on the soap, I accidentally splashed some oven cleaner on mine and its left a right stain, luckily its on the outside.
Oh, by the way, a double-shot is about 36 ml so 180ml is 5 cup. The problem is, it's not as strong a cup. (Real espresso uses 18g for 36ml out so a 5 double-shot requires 90g of beans - that's 1/5 of what is used in this mokapot.)
A double espresso is about 60-70ml. If a double was 36ml then you looking at a single at around 18ml, which is nothing. Either way, the point of the video is they should just sell it as a cheap moka pot not espresso maker.
Single shot is 7g or 8g of coffee in, at that's 25g to 35g out. A double shot is 14g to 18g of coffee in, and 50g to 70g out.
Good ole' Aldi, you just never know what you're going to find there.
Definitely.....go out to buy bread and buy a chainsaw instead, its that kind of shop
The grounds are a bit course, would you say?
Not really, not for my taste anyway. Different coffee yield different results at different grinds.
sorry I couldn't concentrate because your Sofas seem to be glitching into the matrix 😂
I noticed that the 'espresso' it produced seemed to be separating, you mentioned it wasn't very strong and it could just be a trick of the light but the top of the glass looked very watery, I wonder if a quick mix with a spoon would have made this coffee taste much stronger.
In seriousness though, I love your channel
Thanks, appreciate that. Honestly no idea why the sofa started to glitch like that, didnt notice it until editing 🤦♂️. I stirred the coffee up but cut that from the edit so must just be a trick of the light.
It doesn't make espresso. Not an espresso maker. It makes moka, a stronger coffee, but not espresso.
SCA states that “Espresso is a 25-35ml (.85-1.2 ounce [×2 for double]) beverage prepared from 7-9 grams (14-18 grams for a double) of coffee through which clean water of 195°-205°F (90.5°-96.1°C) has been forced at 9-10 atmospheres of pressure, and where the grind of the coffee is such that the brew time is 20-30 seconds.”
Thats the point im trying make, its a good affordable Moka Pot. They should sell it as that and not pretend its espresso.
Yes but it's known as "stovetop espresso" as you get the espresso style brew. With my fresh roasted beans from the mountains, roasted 2 or 3 days before brewing, as I demonstrate on my channel, you can even get a bit of crema. Ebikecnx7239
It makes 6 double espresso's. Not at a time, but in total :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣 hopefully not, ive just used it for the 6th time
@@brewswithviews Haha i will get my first moka pot today, cant wait it seems like the perfect way to start with getting into the coffee hobby
@wimzaaijer2655 100%, its a great way of brewing coffee, especially if you like a strong brew. Check out the guide to brewing a moka pot here if you haven't already: ua-cam.com/video/zRbwVniZbzk/v-deo.html
How dare you Aldi! 🤣
They like to bend the facts haha
It's same as Bialetti, they are talking demi-tasse cup sizes and probably diluted with water. Really not an issue once you realize it. I have 5 different Moka pots all different sizes, use them quite a bit but do switch around from pour-over, Aeropress, Moka Pot, cold brew to automatic espresso depending on how I feel.
