Very nice build. Challenging! I found your video while doing a search for extension tables. I have a prospective customer who wants a unique extension table. So I'm doing my research to figure it out. You have skills, my friend!
Thanks! Definitely go check out Guys Wood Shop (?)- he has an incredible multi-video series on these types of tables that was absolutely invaluable for helping me plan and build this table
Hey everyone, just a quick reminder about table saw safety from someone who's been around the block a few times. Even if you're experienced like me, never, ever put your hands between the blade and the fence when ripping boards. It's tempting, I know, but it's seriously risky. I learned this the hard way in 2012 when I had a bad accident. It took me two years, five surgeries, and over $300k in medical expenses and lost income to recover. Trust me, it's not worth it. Use push blocks and keep those hands clear of danger. Stay safe, folks. 🚫✋
I just found your channel. Where did you find your hinges for the center leaf? I'm looking to build a new expansion table for my new home. Thanks for sharing! Great work ❤❤
The actual hinges in the leaf are SOSS hinges- you’ll have to do your research to determine the model that’ll work with your material- they have different models for different thicknesses.
It’s been a while- did I not mention him in this video? You are absolutely correct- he was a large influence in my early woodworking, and a lot of the mechanical operations of this table were inspired by him.
It’s been a while- did I not mention him at all? You are absolutely correct- Guy’s podcasts and videos were a large influence in getting me in to woodworking, and his series on a butterfly table did provide a lot of inspiration for this build.
Nice job. 2 questions, where did you get the design and hardware for the slides? That looks really smooth. I see you have a 15" planer. I am looking at a 20" 5hp and not 100% I would use all its power so do you think that planer is powerful enough to run oak continually?
The table slides are the “Equalizer” slides from Osborne Wood Products- you definitely have to plan on how you will be able to mount the slides and keep room for the expanding movement. As for a planer, anything above a “standard” lunchbox planer with a universal motor can and will be able to run hardwoods all day long with no problems. The cast-iron units have induction motors that are quieter, more efficient, and more powerful that can run for longer periods of time.
Wtf..I am watching to see how the slide from which the table is pulled out and then expanded is made...but it was not shown...the important part is not in the video...damn my luck
That table is a thing of beauty. Well done thanks for sharing your process!
Thank you!!
Great video! Can’t wait for you to be discovered by the rest of the wood working community!
Thank you! 🙏
That table is awesome! Thanks for all the handy tips throughout!
Thank you, and thanks for watching!

@@SpottedTongueWoodworking Thanks! I'll check it out.
Great project and video!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video as always - love how this turned out. And thanks for the shout out!
Thank you- and I definitely used a few of your tips from your table top video to get that apron

👍
You sell the plans for this table. I would be interested in them. Thanks and great job
Unfortunately I don’t have plans for this table

Great video. Thank you! But credit where credit is due? This was inspired by the builds of Guys Shop, wasn't it?

Awesome build and awesome T shirt. I’m also local to Paul B 😂
Paul B! I never thought I could love a hardware store, then Paul B opened their Mechanicsburg location and I fell head over heels on day one 😂
Exactly! That place is the best.
Do you happen to have plans and material list?
Only what you see in the video- sorry I don’t have a better answer

Equalizer slides from Osborne Wood Products.
I love what you are building and what you do but some of your safety techniques leave a lot to be desired and because of that I am out.
Sorry to see you go. Have fun.
