I would say running the excavator is fun, repairing the excavator is fun, maintaining the excavator is fun, even putting a track back on in the mud with the right friends can be fun; grinding, sanding and painting anything in never my idea of fun. Don't make it too pretty you will be afraid to scrap it up. Thank you for sharing.
@6:16 It's always 3:30 somewhere. Also, I'm so glad you left in the shots of you reading the manual. Even Spartans stop to measure twice before cutting once. Excavator is looking great!
Love the music choices! Such a beautiful day! And, when the contrail caught your eye... our Spartan! Squirrel... we do so love you! That machine sure has come a long, long way, but it's a testament to how hard you work on things you care about. Those dings and dents just give it character. It's beautiful because it's yours and it does its job very well. These videos are a pleasure to watch! Thank you so much for sharing them with us.
I do auto repair, please buy a respirator for your lungs sake some of those older paints are deadly. Some advice on the spray gun less pressure/more fluid, spray a piece of paper with a quick burst it should make a neat oval. When you spray hold your wrist straight and move your whole arm to keep even distance, you will leave a noticeable "stroke" of paint similar to if you were using a roller but smoother. That will matter more for the paint than the primer. The repair area on the cab just sand by hand with 80 grit, the grinder is to aggressive and will rip the bondo off every time. Good luck, can't wait to see the finished colors.
The excavator is to be coming along nicely and your right it does look allot better with the new primer. Keep up the outstanding job, everything appears to be coming along nicely.
Oddly satisfying video! Love watching the process of scrubbing her down and painting her. Very impressed the bridge held up so well. 👍. Keep these awesome videos coming !! 🌈
Looking good! At some point, you're gonna need to put some outdoor lights on the shed so you can work into the night. Mosquitos have to eat too you know :)
Hey GS! Nice vid again bro. I have one suggestion for ya. Place some concrete/boulders (or both) at the bottom of the collapsed part of the bridge so the bridge can't wash away. We in the Netherlands (Dutch Viking ;) ) do it like that so the water can't beat us. Keep up the great content bro!
I have an 86 KH60 that I am in the middle of getting it operational. Mine has steel tracks, I really like the looks of yours with the rubber tracks. Did it have the rubber tracks on it or did you put them on? Great job by the way restoring it.
Thank you Bo. It actually came with the rubber tracks. Somewhere way back on the channel I talked about putting new tracks on as the old were tearing apart. It was $1200 for the pair from a company in Texas I found with a quick google search. Fit perfect and are still doing well till this day.
Best thing you ccould have done is get some paint stripper, slap it on there and just scrape the paint off and the remaining paint hit with the wire wheel, at least thats how i did mine and it went quite fast.
A couple of well places larger boulders would go a long way to support that crush rock ... would also help with the erosion. Not massive boulders but medium-sized... you get what I mean 😏
Yeah man. Mine is way under powered for what I need to do out there with the blaster. I spent more time waiting on pressure to build than I did blasting.
I wonder whether you could've used a chemical paint-stripper to remove that orange paint, before priming it? I'd be a bit worried that if you paint over the top, it'll start to peel in a few months or so. It does look good so far though :)
That orange paint is baked on. I had a hard time removing it with the grinder. Pretty sure it will be fine and just add another layer of protection for the metal.
Most won't realize how much work that painting is. The prep work to paint is a LOT of time. I look forward to seeing all the matte black going on sir.
Who'd have thought watching a guy using a grinder would be so relaxing
Adding the classical music was a nice touch 👌

Thank you Marc! I sent you an email a few days ago sir. Once I get a few good coats of paint on there, it shouldn't scratch up too easily!
Nice work - nice music :)
Many thanks!

Thanks Three Thirty. I thought it added a comical touch to the montage.

Thank you for the very kind words and support on both channels Isinofre!

Thank you for the tips. Learning this stuff as I go!
I loved the music today, I grew up listening to classical and going to symphonies! So relaxing! Great work today Sir Spartan!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks 👍
Great update vid. I agree with the other commenters. The added music to the painting montage was a perfect touch. Well done, good Sir!

Appreciate it Steven!
Primer coat looks good! You make back-breaking work seem easy. Lots of water still pouring out of your bridge! 🌈
Yes! Thank you!
Looking good, loved the epic music during the painting montages.
Thanks 👍

IT IS LOOKING GOOD
Nice work GS, you could add a small amount of thinner to the primer help with spray but have to move faster with the gun. Great music choice lol
Thanks Duke!
GS, hold the spray gun flat the surface & move your arm right to left. You will get better coverage that way. Good job, looks great
another awsome vid

The excavator looks really good!! Are you going to paint it pink....lol

You should use a dual action sander to remove the paint.
Very Nice good job.
hope that primer is high heat i think you may have painted over your muffler
Should just melt away.
Only the ZMBIES are missing :)
Super
Mother Nature just wants you to throw down some more frames and upgrade.
Hope you didn't get any primer specks on that green John Deere 😬 was parked a bit close while you were priming
Nah. She was good to go. You could watch the wind carrying the paint the opposite direction. I tested the direction it was blowing before beginning.
Yeah,we use a 2cylinder air compressor.blasting needs alot of cfm
Yeah man. Mine is way under powered for what I need to do out there with the blaster. I spent more time waiting on pressure to build than I did blasting.
Just spray the undercoat over the glass it's ok
Hello, I also own a Kubota Kh 60 with steel tracks, could you tell me the mass of your rubber tracks.
Thanks

there where no Zombies hurt in the making of this Video
Yellow and black ugh lol. You thinking of goop?
Oh my goodness, your bondo skills are lacking sir, but the rest was well done :) wish i was there to bondo for ya
lol.. Never used that stuff before. Works really well for filling in rusted spots though!
