Diesels have come a long way, I can see why people like them. I don't think diesels sound as good though, mine ran a little bit like a diesel during that episode, sounded trash!!🤣
Engine hoist might just need bleeding air out of the pump. Open the valve and pump a few times then close the valve and it might pump fine again - mine does that sometimes if its been left a few months. Also - looks like you still have the battery connected - naughty naughty!! the wire to the starter motor often goes straight to the battery so when you take the starter out very easy to short it on the chassis (been there, done that, got the arc burns to prove it!) Good luck with the rest of the job
Thanks Dave, I'll try that. I did try giving it some more oil as it leaked while laid down on my trailer coming back from my mates. I gave it a few pumps and a chance to bleed but it didn't support the boom weight. I may have been a little late disconnecting the battery 😬 well spotted!!
Nice work! I had to do the same on my Westfield with the Honda S2000 a few years ago due to clutch failure. Amusingly, do it once, and you'll be seen as an expert..... I've helped remove and replace 5 since then (a rotrex zetec, a 2.3 duratec, 2 pintos and a xflow). A great upgrade while you're at it is a lightweight flywheel (if you've not got one already), they transform lightweight cars like ours.. Hope it all goes smoothly 👍

Thanks. The disconnecting was the easy bit, I'm good at that!! The sliding axially along the GB input shaft while lifting is another story I guess.
I'd have lent you my load leveler if I'd known. Successfully got the V8 and gearbox as one out and in the Fury with that!

Thanks. I was thinking about doing the flywheel. They are really expensive though and rare for the 4A-GE so not many 2nd hand ones around.
@TeaNBizz-Kits mine was about £250 but made a huge difference to the car.
I think Torqen do one for the AE86 that's under £300
If you have issues with the engine crane chuck the car on the trailer and bring it up to mine, got the gantry crane in the garage 👍
