This is such a great demonstration! This video has clarified a lot and has helped me make the jump to get my 1/2 and 3/8 tech angle torque wrenches ! Thank you so much !
The fit and finish of the click torque wrenches is amazing. The knurling on the handle is flawless. But, all of my stuff is Atech. Great torque wrenches, and a lot faster than twisting a handle around 50 damn times. I have the 3/8" up 100ftlbs, the 1/2 up to 250ftlbs, and the 3/4 up to 600ftlbs. Wouldn't trade them for the world.
@@spacecat7247 yeah your correct kind of, when you unload the spring it takes the tension off and if you don't you can damage it and especially if it's accidentally knock off something and hits the ground can break the spring completely
I have the 3/8 and 1/2” atech an absolutely love both of them iv had a lot of click type torque wrenches nothing compares to the accuracy of the tech angle.
from what I saw, they changed the calibration mode, the first one was to check if the torque wrench was accurate and the second test was (person) + (torque) added the +or - 4% that would be a regular case scenario of you or me using it and then showing that the atech is more precise because you get to feel and look at the lights and reading, which still has a +or - of 2%.
He held it by the tail end. If you hold a torque wrench in the wrong spot, you change the length of the lever and change the torque value. Further away will overshoot, closer will undershoot. Torque wrenches must be used from the handle
@@kennethebel7726 You're right, the torque wrench needs to be used from the handgrip or the torque value will change, but the variation is the other way around - at the tip will reduce the value slightly, moving towards the drive head will overshoot the target value. He deliberately jerks the motion on the first occasion to get a high reading, and the second application is steadier, but still barely half the time he later takes to carefully edge up to the right value with the electronic unit. Just a little bit of fudging going on to make the regular wrench look worse than it is in comparison to the electronic unit.
Here's a question, that I have not been able to get a clear answer (even though I was a certified tool technician in the AF). What are the temperatures for storage? Some will say room temp. Others say it doesnt matter. Humidity I can see being an issue due to internal corrosion. But temp? When I was a crew chief, the TW would sit in its case for hours in sub 0 temps until we would get to the job at hand. The wrench would get that cold. In storage, I imagine most shops dont leave the heat on, so during the winter, they must experience cold, right? Im kind of tired of keeping mine inside, and not in the shop. I have a very old school torsion bar wrench (old Craftsman), a click Craftsman, and a CDI 900ftlbs beast (for heavy diesels). I would like to keep them in my box. So, what do you guys recommend (since you guys own CDI as well)
I just found a day ago I have to reset Twrench back to zero after use. I'm just glad Craftsman box wont allow me to put the wrench back in without resetting it to zero ☺️
I just picked up my 3/8 quick release atech about a month ago, I love it! Now my dealer said you didn't have to remove the battery's anymore, is that true?
I use Energizer lithium batteries and never take them out except when they are dead. Never had a problem. It's when you use cheap batteries and then they leak is when you have issues. Just remember there is a section in the settings to set what type of battery you are using too.
I have one of the original grey handle ones. I've never pulled the battery cap off in 12 years and it still turns on. Now I say this I'll be half way through a head gasket and the c.nt will die on me.
Nice video as always, but "Please" what I really need is a real small head and real long neck for hard to reach areas, because the 1/4 LONG NECK POWER RATCHET PN: CTR717, definitely do not have a long neck, and the head is "huge" for a 1/4"drive. I'm using the Aircat 808-15-25, but it is pneumatic and makes no sense, as we all need is a cordless brushless tool. Please take it into consideration!
this reminds me of those infomercials late at night demonstrating their new world changing tool. It is a good tool. no need to hype it up and over do the drama/bad acting.
They seemed pretty monotoned to me, I didn’t hear them once go.. “HEY! DOES YOIR TORQUE WRENCH DO THIS??? TIRED OF SNAPPING THOSE RUSTY ENGINE BOLTS???”
I hate it when I see someone jerk on the clicker type torque. This is also a huge no,gives a false torque reading.Once you hear the click, stop and you are done
it is just like the oil testing demonstrations using the "one armed bandit" friction testing machine. The operator can get the desired results he wants without being obvious. Funny to watch though.
I will give it to you snap on your torque wrenches and your flare nut wrenches are top tier, but the rest of your tools are average at best and your price points drop that category to a bottom of the barrel selection. Hopefully you guys either make your tools worth your price in the future or stop being a joke and price them to what they are worth
Snap-on torque wrenches are the best there's no denying it!
What up CP the tool addict!
I’m surprised no icon fan boys showed up to this post 🤣

Snap On Torque Wrench
For the real Exacto Mechanic that understands the importance
I have 5 ATECHs and I love them. Love my click types too, but love my ATECHs more.
Do you want a medal?
@@benfairhall5331 Do I deserve a medal? Did I do something heroic?

@@benfairhall5331 not really, but appreciate the enthusiasm.
@@Tap-a-roo what ones do you have?
An old-timer told me to put your torque wrench back to *ZERO* before storing it.
Or to the lowest setting
They say that can mess it up if it is loose. I have heard other mechanics say this and I do lowest value
Yes. To the lowest setting. Must unload that spring.
@@spacecat7247 yeah your correct kind of, when you unload the spring it takes the tension off and if you don't you can damage it and especially if it's accidentally knock off something and hits the ground can break the spring completely

I don't understand what changed between the two tests. How did test 1 click at 50 but the second went over?

why can't youtube just show commercials for Snap-on tools to me all day? I just watched this on purpose! lol

The ac delco digital torque wrench also has the quick release so ur not the only one with it

Analog or Digital.... Love the precision of digital & Love the analog way just because..... Either way put both in your tool box!
Absolutely love my tech angle 3/8
👊👍👌 cool tools at snap on
Can't wait to get the 1/2 digital. Been waiting for 2months now
Would be nice if my electric wrench would not turn off every time I torque something down.
100% they should stay on for 15mins.

No on snap on torque wrenches it says set it to the lowest setting but the lowest number becuase you can stress the spring in reverse
