  • In this episode of Hebrew Voices, An Early Christian Passover, Nehemia Gordon continues his fascinating discussion with Prof. Shaye Cohen of Harvard University. This time, the two focus on a Christian Church Father named Melito of Sardis, who in the second century, wrote a prayer service or sermon, for a Christian Passover. This leads Gordon and Cohen to discuss the differences and similarities between Easter, Pascha and Passover, what each commemorated, and when each of these holidays were observed by different historical groups.

Yes, to properly observe the Torah, that Yeshua never removed but enforced. He followed every law from Torah, that's why He was the Sacrificial Lamb to Atone for us, that we can again be reconciled to. Yahovah. There was no other way.

@@joyceobeys6818 I exists passages endorsing animal sacrifice, but are also passages that are against it. See Jeremiah 7 22, it is a very strong passage. The view that he does not like it has a evidence today for it, there is not a temple with the sacrificial system right now. Sacrifice is not required for sin, if it was, the message of Jesus would be different.

Nehemiah, I am sorry for all the anti-semitism in the Christian church :( I grew up in a Christian family, but I DID NOT grow up to view Jews as second rate children of Yehovah. My mother grew up in a predominately Jewish community in Chicago. A lot of our friends were Jewish and there was no animosity at all! Its only after I started to research the roots of Christianity that I began to see the systematic attack on the Jews and Messianic Jews. This breaks my heart and I really can't wrap my mind around it although I have come to terms with its truth. This war between the Hebrew roots of Christianity is a sad chapter and unfortunately Rome won. Imo Protestants haven't detached themselves enough from the clear man-made doctrines passed on to them from the Roman Church. Please keep the door open to Christians and keep searching and exposing the truth even if you get scorned by other Jews. WE NEED YOU to tell the truth!

    An early Christian Passover!!
Last year Easter was before Passover. I'll never forget. My mother died on Easter, 2017.
I believe Passover is in Exodus 12, not to be changed. 14th day of First month of the year.
Exodus 12:6. For christians, Yeshua was the Passover Lamb, according to book of John.

I've always understood that Yeshua rose from the dead on first fruits, which is detailed in 1st Corinthians and elsewhere in the new testament. This is the celebration that became Easter or rather that Easter took the place of first fruits. Pasca should then be the remembrance of Yeshuas death. So the understanding is that Yeshuas death was a fulfillment of a prophecy embedded within the Passover from Egypt, and his rising from the dead a fulfillment of first fruits, and then Shavuot 50 days later, the baptism of the ruach hakodesh.

Yes that is right he was raised on Sabbath late in the afternoon. It says Mary went to the Grave early the first day of the week. He was already gone because he was raised late Saturday afternoon. In the book of Acts where it talks about them gathering on the first day of the week if you read the Greek it actually says Shabbat. Then when he saw Mary on Sunday morning for the first day of the week he told her don't touch me for I have not went to the father yet. He was taking the first fruit offerings to the father. All those who were raised from the dead with him.

I had never before noticed the books (other than Samuel) specified in the verse but with my interest stirred managed to find on Google the translation, of Gad, by Ken Johnson. I read with great 'interest' his vision re the lamb and of purity and impurity. Nehemiah, with all the modern access to ancient manuscript collections, has the lost book of Nathan the prophet been found? as i get older i realize how much we all influence each other...in our daily lives, in how we place ourselves in society and in the stories and his-story of our clan. If we are lucky enough to have a reasonably healthy family we joke about our understandings and misunderstandings. Genetics plays a big role here and I don't know any good way around it. It is not IQ but emotional intelligence that helps us to delve into details and argue (discuss w fervor) differences.
I love Nehemia's love and curiosity of how things work. As a Jew-Catholic all of this seems normal as HaShem (Abba) wanted it....Torah teaches us....Yeshua (Isa) teaches us and we are blessed.

Christians keep in memory the Suffering on the cross and the resurrection on the third day. Christ was not a human sacrifice per say. He willingly gave His life according to God's plan for redemption and eternal life. A soldier gives his life willingly for the liberty of others. We don't call soldiers human sacrifices. Easter is Pagan. Pagan influences creeped in over time. Constantine and RCC corrupted the true gospel.

Good question. Luke was a teammate with paul, who says Yeshua is the passover, so it makes sense that he entered on the 10th, was inspected and found blameless, then killed on the evening of the 14th(pesach), and rose on firstfruits, then appeared on pentacost to pour out the spirit.
Also, john 13:18 says bread(artos in greek) which is specifically LEAVENED, fluffy bread, so the last supper was the day before israel was commanded to remove the leaven.

I agree this sounds very anti-Semitic which is terrible. But I find the professors comments on that quite interesting. I agree though that according to the gospels it was the religious leaders who condemned and handed Yeshua over to the Romans, but the Romans who condemned, beat and tortured Yeshua and ultimately killed Yeshua by crucification. But ultimately for a follower of Yeshua, you must believe that we are all responsible for his death because if we aren't then his death does nothing for us. If we are not guilty, then we are not saved. He either took our place for our sins or he didn't. So if he died for us, then we are guilty of his death because it was our sins that put him there, as is detailed in Isaiah 53.

(Let his blood be on our heads and the heads of our children.). Thus, the curse of blindness. As Sha’ul wrote, we are all responsible. But, He knew that. Praise Yah! I am a Hebrew by birth, Judean, of the Rabbis (Pharisees) and you do NOT sound anti-Semitic. Replacement Theology is anti-Semitic. Well, anti-Biblical. I saw the truth solely by studying the holy writings and threw away all I’d been taught. People twist them to their own demise.

    • @brfdchief

Hi Fritz, might I suggest that you read the gospels a little closer? It was the JEWS who demanded of Pontius Pilate that Jesus be crucified. Finding no fault in Jesus, Pilate wanted to release him. But the clamoring of the crowd caused him to relent, and he handed Jesus over to be crucified. In the end, though, Jesus was crucified because he lay down his life for us willingly. (John 15:15-17, 1 John 3:16). See Matt 25:65-68; Matt 27:1-2; Matt 27:15-26.

Yeshua entered Jerusalem on the 10th day when the testing of the lambs was to begin.
He was tested by Pharisees and Sanhedrin during the 4 day testing of the lambs.
They had the last supper at the beginning of the 14th.
Got captured around sunrise of the 14th
Delivered to suffering and the Jewish leaders wouldn't enter the place of suffering because they didn't want to become unclean before the HighDay (1st day of Unleavened Bread)
Was crucified on the 14th along with the rest of the lambs.
Taken down before sunset due to the Approaching High Sabbath.
Jewish people ate Passover at the beginning of the 15th.
The ladies bought spices on the 16th (2nd day of UnlBr ...not a High Sabbath)
They rested on the 17th Shabbat , the weekly Sabbath.
Yeshua rose at sunset on Shabbat 17th.
Early the next day at sunrise on the 18th the ladies showed up to see Yeshua had "already" risen.
The 2 guys walk and talk with Yeshua on the road to Emmaus. And they broke bread still during the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
They realize they saw Yeshua and run back to Jerusalem to tell the disciples (still during Unleavened Bread)

He died as the Passover lamb, for he was found to be without sin, leaven = sin, He was buried, He rose from the dead on the third day, First fruits, He is the first fruits of many brethren. The Jewish day begins at sundown, Jesus rose from the dead after sundown , making it, not Sabbath, but First fruits. Beginning the counting of the omer, 49days then the 50th day, Shavuot, or Pentecost. The beginning of the birth of the church.

Jesus died on Wednesday between 3pm and 5pm on the 14th of nisan most likely in 33AD. The celebration recorded historically on the 14th of Nisan was done in relation to the new thing Christ introduced on Nisan the 14th which happened Tues evening (the 14th of Nisan began in the evening which was the start of a new day. Thus Jesus spent 3 days and 3 nights in the grave - rising early on Sunday which began at evening on Saturday. Also one gospel suggests the ladies went out to buy spices the day after the Sabbath and another suggests they went out the day before the Sabbath - since Passover is a Sabbath they are both right. The Passover Sabbath began on Wed evening and continued to thur evening. Also Jesus is not the passover lamb - Jesus is the Lamb of God which the passover pointed to - parabled, symbolized. Jesus began a new thing, thus the passover was no longer to be the thing celebrated - Nisan the 14th became the new celebration, not the Passover on the 15th - again the day started in the evening - Tuesday night Jesus introduced this new thing which has become the abomination we call communion - it was meant to be a feast not some BS cracker and sip of juice. Thus those that wrote about the celebration on the 14th were referencing the meal Jesus had with his diciples on Tues night and not the killing of the lamb or Jesus the same day (wed between 3 and 5 pm) - Wed began in the evening on Tues - this is the feast on the 14th that happened before Jesus was killed. It was the meal the family held after all the preparations for Passover had been finished - such as securing the lamb for slaughter the next day and the place to celebrate - everyone would be gathered together for this meal - Jesus introduced the new thing - the passover pointed to Christ's crucifixion - going forward it was no longer required - Jesus now celebrated what was to be accomplished in the fulfillment of what the passover pointed to. Now Paul seems to suggest that we are free to practice this feast as often as we like. So there shouldn't really be any controversy as to when or how often - however it is important to remember it is the Nisan 14th new thing feast idea that Jesus introduced and not the Passover.

Can you tell me who wrote the book about two different calendars that you referenced in passing? That’s the direction I’m going in my calendar research. There are many examples
    1. Yeshua stayed at the temple after Passover and was shocked that his parents wouldn’t know that he had to be at the temple in Jerusalem for the rest of the feast.
    2. The term “feast of the Jews” seems like it’s something different than the Feasts he faithfully followed with his disciples.
    3. He went up to the Feast of Tabernacles in the middle of the feast...pretty “blasé” if he was on the same calendar and is faithfully following Yehovah’s commands.
There are many more examples like this.
Now looking at the Dead Sea Scrolls and seeing the Zadok Priestly Calendar and realizing the contrast between the Solar and Lunar calendars and the apparent battle between “sons of light” and “sons of darkness” etc.
if there is someone else who has this theory and wrote a book about it, I would love to read it. Also if you have any other documents that you know of that could help me with my calendar studies.
I agree with the sign of the barley being the beginning of The first month. But I don’t agree with the Hillel calendar and the Babylonian names...is there any resource that speaks of the 13th month?

No, still searching thru the Bible and not seeing the 13th month. In 1 Chronicles 27: 1-15 we can’t get around the fact that there are commanders named for every month 1-12, but no one for a thirteen month. So many mentions of every other month, but not the thirteenth...
      Any one find anything?
Also, how do we know that a “new moon” is not a “full moon”? Every other definition has been turned on it’s head by the enemy...why not this one? There is a verse that could go either way.
Psalm 81:3 if you look at the Hebrew Lexicon, it seems to me it could be three descriptions of the same feast. Blow trumpet at New Moon, which is a full moon and is also a feast.
Is there the word “conjunction” in scripture?

When did the Greek Orthodox Church start using the Greek transliteration of פסח (πεσαχ, Πάσχα) to mean suffering (πάσχει)? Obviously in Josephus, the LXX and the NT writings it means Pesach. We can't read back into ancient historical documents a later use and definition of a word. Especially when in some traditions the later use and definition evolved from a theological use of the term. That is one of the mistakes of the KJV translators, when they went as far as translating the term Πάσχα in Acts with the name of the non Jewish festival called Easter. A term then adopted by Western traditional Christians to mean the Resurrection Sunday.
More research is needed. Mr. Gordon, you are doing an excellent academic work. It help us, Jews, to understand better the Early Christian movement.

Jeshuah died on a Wednesday afternoon which was preparation for the first holy day of Days of Unleavened Bread on Thursday. Johanan mentions that it was to be "a high day" which they would not have bought the spices on. Then the ladies bought spices on the day between the high Holy Day Sabbath and weekly which made this week have two Sabbaths. The high day and the weekly. So then like the prophet Jonah being three days and three nights in the fish, (an Exact amount of time) Jeshuah was then placed in the tomb at Twilight Wednesday and raised at Twilight at the end of the Shabbat that week. Not Sunday. On Sunday He was already raised when the ladies came to anoint the body before sunrise that morning. Jeshuah showed Mariam Himself that he had already been raised; yet not ascended to the Father in Heaven. The last meal was then at the end of the 13th (Tuesday) prior to the beginning of the 14th Passover Day which started at sunset. Also at which time Jeshuah instructed the Disciples of the true meaning of the Matzos and wine, being His broken body and blood poured out for redemption of all mankind to Elohim. He died on the cross to fulfill the marriage covenant with Israel as a whole. Til' death do we part. Reference Jeremiah and Hoseah where יהוה gives Israel a bill of divorce because of their sins. Thus allowing for more than just physical Israel to be a part of His everlasting covenant but for a hand picked group of called out ones, Spiritual Israel (Gentiles and Physical Israel) together to be grafted in to the vine and have a part in His future Kingdom in which He returns to reign supreme over the entire Earth.

Great discussion! Wouldn't it be better for All Christians to stay within the foundation of the Scriptures instead of inventing new "Days" and forcing the text on these observances such as Easter, Sabbath to Sunday and Christmas as "Jesus Birthday".. Most Christians who believes Jesus is from everlasting should not even suggest Jesus has a birthday, rather that he was begotten of the Father. When we insert strange observances on top of the text by using obscure passages we dilute and confuse clear scripture and cause divisions.

As I see it, you're not going back far enough. We know that the mystery religion was held back for a little while but almost immediately after the death of the apostles, the flood gates opened and the woman (the church) was nearly swept away. Catholicism was legalized in the fourth century but even before then we see these arguments over absolute trivia exploding everywhere. It's a challenge to keep the main thing the main thing and so we wind up chasing after holy days, new moons, and sabbath days. The Apostle Paul recognized this as a pretty sever problem and so he taught against it but the seduction is very strong.

Cohen (and the bulk of Protestants today) needs to learn how to count to three. The prophecy of Jonah shows a Fri death and Sun resurrection is impossible. 3 days AND 3 nights. Easter is nothing more than pagan sun-god worship mixed with a sprinkling of Biblical truth, just like Christmas. The "last supper" was not a Passover. Michael Rood and 119 Ministries do very good breakdowns of Passover and the whole timeline.

Yeshua was visited at the grave site on the morning of the first day of the week. That was Monday. Jewish days began at sunset (not midnight) and ended the next sunset. The seventh day ended Saturday evening. In other words, the practice of celebrating the resurrection on Sunday at sunrise is more financial (getting followers to come on Sunday morning when they do not work). What three nights was Yehsua in the grave? Very simple, Sunday night, Saturday night and Friday night! He was laid to rest on Friday before night began, because the next day was a high sabbath (starting at sunset). So, Yehshua was in the grave Friday day, Saturday day, and Sunday daylight (not arisen). He arose at the end of the first day of the week. That was Monday.

    • @KORR
      @KORR 6 років тому +5

Yes sundown to sundown. But... Monday as first day? Nope! First day is Sunday, last day is Sabbath. Unless you're trying to say that Sunday is Sabbath? That was the work of the pagans. Abolish Sabbath worship on pain of death and declare Sunday the "day of the lord" in keeping with all the rest of the pagan sun god worship.

    • @pmcMatilda
      @pmcMatilda 6 років тому

Sunday night to Monday night is the first day of the week. Jesus was resurrected Monday morning, which is still the 1st day of the week. Mary was there Monday morning.

    • @KORR
      @KORR 6 років тому +2

No... you're offset by a day. The start of the Biblical day is basically the sundown from the previous "day" on our pagan calendars. I've never heard anyone try to make the point that Monday is the first day. The last day of the Biblical week is Sabbath. Sabbath starts at sundown Friday and ends sundown Saturday. The next day, starting at sundown Saturday is the first day of the week. Sundown Sunday to sundown Monday would be the second day of the week. It's a little wonky to wrap our Greek mindset around but it's the truth and so much about Biblical prophesy and timelines do not and cannot make any sense without this understanding.

I find it interesting that Melito, supposedly a Jew, vented such vileness more suited to Martin Luther or Marcion. The notion that the Jews killed Jesus is patently false; Josephus lays that at the feet of the Roman conscripts, the Syrians (the usual suspects). That the death of Jesus somehow took him by surprise is pure ignorance; he plainly stated that he came to give his life as a ransom for many. Zec 11:7 "So I became the shepherd of the flock doomed to be slaughtered by the sheep traders."; also see Isa. 53. The idea that the Jews are condemned forever shows utter contempt for his prayer "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." It also destroys Eze 18:20 "The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son." The apostle Paul dealt extensively with this in Romans 7-11, and concluded that G-d has not cast them off, and is agreement with no less than 7 of the prophets. How can you reconcile Zech 8:23 where 10 gentiles are grabbing the tallit of a Jew and not vice-versa? How is it that all things will be restored? Restoration is by going backward - "to the ancient paths, where the good way is, ...find rest for your souls" (sound familiar?). Sorry but Jesus did not come to establish a new religion and he is not the founder of Christianity - Rome is the founder of Christianity. Salvation will come out of Zion, not Nashville, Tulsa, or Springfield. He will restore to us a pure language - Hebrew, not English. We will celebrate his Appointed days (or else!), not the pagan holidays. What will Jesus do to the unbelieving Jews when he returns? He will be exactly as Joseph was to his brothers, "You meant it for harm but G-d meant it for good." Zec 13:6 "And if one asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your back?’ he will say, ‘The wounds I received in the house of my friends.’" Did you catch that? He said "friends", not "enemies". The parable of the prodigal son is about the House of Judah (the older son) and the House of Israel (the prodigal). The older son stayed with the father (although he was mad that his father gave the prodigal a party), and the father told the older son "‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours." (Lk 15:31). I could go on and on but all that's needed is two or three witnesses. If you only read Paul you'll probably fall. Replacement theology is from the pit of hell. Jesus said himself "Salvation is of the Jews". Christians need the Torah, and Jews need their Messiah - the Jewish one, Yeshua ha Mashiach, not Jesus the Greek or Roman "Christ".

The problem with many christians is that they ignore The Bible
In Colossians 1:17 we are told that YEHOSHUA HA MOSHIACH (Jesus The Redeemer Messiah) was BEFORE ALL THINGS and that by Him ALL things consist.
This is in TOTAL ALIGNMENT WITH THE TRUTH THAT - as The Father He begets, As The Son He is begotten, and as the sheep/Lamb He suffers. Read also 1Tmothy 3:16.
Regarding "killing GOD" - Melito's comment lines up with Peter's words in Acts 3:12-26, especially verse 15 where Peter claims they killed the Source of Life. However he goes on to say they did it in ignorance and could repent. He also refers to Moses' Promise of the Moshiach in verse 22.

My view on why Melito names Israel/ Jews as killer of Jesus is not because they rejected him. So in that sense their rejection basically led to the crucifiction of Jesus. If they would have accepted him then Jesus wouldn’t have been put to death. So as said, by the rejection of the messiah the Jews of that time are guilty for Jesus death, this at least is my opinion on why melito was neglecting the fact that the Roman’s actually did it

It is abundantly true that prophecy is only fulfilled in retrospect. Very little prophecy can be discerned prior to its fulfillment. When Jesus prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem, I'm sure none of His disciples believed in the literal destruction because such a thing (even today) is extremely hard for anyone to comprehend or accept.
I hate to belabor this but nobody (except me) has detected that the fundamental difference between Paul's gospel and the Jewish Christian church was over WHEN a prophecy was fulfilled. If you read the Book of James (the leader of the establishment, Jewish church) you will see that he interprets Genesis 15:6 as being a prophecy yet to be fulfilled. (Abraham believed in Jehovah and it was credited to him for righteousness.) Paul interprets this as an immediately executed blessing on Abraham and his descendants. In other words, when Abraham believed the promise God had made to him - BAM! - That's when he was considered righteous by God.
James, on the other hand, interprets this as a prophecy to be fulfilled only AFTER Abraham put a knife to the throat of Isaac, intending to sacrifice him to God. This event took place in Genesis 21 - AFTER circumcision had been instituted. James (the brother of Jesus) was a died in the wool Judaizer - the very people Paul warned his churches against.

So, Yehshua was in the grave Friday day, Saturday day, and Sunday daylight (not arisen). He arose at the end of the first day of the week. That was Monday.

There is NO Biblical commandments to change the dates of Leviticus 23. The changes came due to the Roman/Greek influence in the Way of YHVH being oraciones by the sect of Jews known as the Way.
Pascha and easter are absolutely two different things, but viewed by the Roman church as the same thing. Passover and Unleavened Bread are terri different Appointed Times, but they are honored together by Hebrews.
What’s important to note is that while Pascha (Greek for Pesach aka Passover) may be the meal that is eaten, the reason Christians today eat this on Sunday is bc the focus is not so much on Messiahs death, but His resurrection, which was on First Fruits, the day after the Sabbath following Passover/Unleavened Bread. Leviticus 23. Thus, Christians conflate these three Holy Days, Passover/ULB/First Fruits, into one holiday meal.
The big problem for Roman-based Christianity is that they have paganized these holy days by mixing them with the days and name for when they had formerly honored a false god, Oestre/Astarte.
Suffering in Greek is sunecho. Passion in Greek is pathos, which can mean strong emotion. So, passion and suffering are not related linguistically. The connection of these two words comes from Luke 22:15, “And He (Yeshua) said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer....”. It’s important to note that this was not technically a Passover meal bc it was the night before the actual Passover which was the following night.
Only errant church tradition teaches Yeshua was crucified on a Friday and resurrected in a Sunday. According to the Apostolic writings, Yeshua was crucified on Passover (a Wednesday afternoon that year, then began ULB (a Shabbat), followed by Friday the day after the ULB Sabbath and the day before the weekly Sabbath. He arises from the dead later in the weekly Sabbath (3 nights and says after His crucifixión).
Quartadecimans (14-ers) were basing their Holy day on Leviticus 23 (as commander and all should) and they were from the area of the seven churches of Asia (modern day Turkey). The first two centuries, before Romans/Greeks co-opted (corrupted) the faith, it was considered a Jewish sect (kept by almost entirely Jews), but was a true keeping of Leviticus 23, so in that sense it was Biblical. One the Romans outnumbered the Jews in this sect, due to their antisemitism and familiarity with their own pagan traditions and lack of familiarity with the Hebrew commandments, they paganized the faith.
The key difference to understand is Jews were complicating Torah with their oral torah and Romans began to complicate (corrupt) Torah with their own traditions. Yeshua taught against keeping traditions over Torah. Mark 7, in keeping with Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32.
PS Melito of Sardis also can be credited with creating the concept of the testaments, old and new. A testament is a document related to a will, whereas a covenant is a mutual agreement to be kept forever. Melito is responsible for a lot of bad/errant theology.

*_Christiaan_* [BL4H] absolutely! Nothing has changed. The doctrine stating that Christians replaced YHVH chosen nation Israel, as well as the Torah (the law/instructions) is done away with is simply another man made doctrine influenced by people’s antisemitism. Yeshua was a perfect Torah observant and follower of it because He as being One with YHVH created the Torah in the first place, so how can he abolish it? YHVH never changes!
This is a new covenant that Yeshua gave us, BUT as many times before when YHVH gave a new covenant, He didn’t annulled the previous one. He add more on top of the other. Clean vs unclean is still valid. Sinning by breaking the Torah is still valid.
The ONLY thing that changed was that our works do not saves us. Only accepting Yeshua as our Saviour can saves us from ethereal condemnation by our sinful living. Thanks be to YHVH for His grace and ethereal wisdom of how to save our poor souls.
Since nothing has changed except that Yeshua is now our Saviour, and since Yeshua Himself celebrated every single feast and kept all the commandments from the Torah, then we being Christians (meaning “little Christ”) should be like Yeshua, trying our best to be like Him. He was a perfect example of how we should live. That being said we should all keep it the ways and traditions that Yeshua followed.

Even though this wasn’t a Passover dinner since Yeshua was crucified before the Passover even started, this dinner has a lot of symbology of the Passover dinner itself. Also since Yeshua kept all the commandments, all the feasts of YHVH (not Jews), then we as His followers and imitators should do what He did.

It is terribly sad that Greek/Roman converts overtook the Way that Yeshua revealed and kept, that is Torah alone, without tradition. Judaism is not the Way but has been affected by rabbinic oral tradition, which Yeshua spoke against (such as Mark 7:8-9). The earliest Yeshua followers were only Jews (house of Judah) and a few Israelis (house of Israel) from Samaria and elsewhere to the north. Similar to how the rabbis’ oral traditions (“you have heard it said”) overtook Torah (“it is written,” thus adding to Torah which is forbidden in Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32).
As a result of the Gentile (Romans/Greeks) converts, which eventually became the majority of Yeshua followers, who were antisemitic, they too violated Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32 by taking away the Torah, claiming grace is all that is needed. This of course is absolutely false since by grace we are saved through faith in order to receive the Spirit who enables us to keep Torah.
Ultimately then, the gentiles fare no better than the Hebrews (both houses/kingdoms) in properly keeping Torah, which ironically, is precisely why Yeshua came to begin with - to show us how to properly keep Torah (devoid of additional tradition that makes is burdensome), and NOT to be a self sacrifice as atonement for sins so mankind could ignore Torah.
God told mankind Torah, mankind failed to keep it, so God wrote down and gave Torah to mankind, and again, mankind failed to keep it, so finally, God manifested in the flesh (who had been The Messenger of YHVH who walked in the Garden, who met with Abraham and wrestled with Jacob, and whom Moses saw without dying) in order to show us how to live by Torah, yet mankind once again failed to keep it, even by the Gentiles discarding Torah.
Thus, both Hebrews and Gentiles (which constitutes all of mankind) have replaced and discarded Torah (The Way of YHVH) with their own ways (traditions). Stated another way, neither Judaism nor Christianity are His Way, but they constitute the ways of man via false traditions and doctrines.

Who can argue that the Romans wouldn't have executed him that day if it hadn't been for his accusers?... Another reason why religion and state need to be kept separated.

Yehoshua (Jesus) FULFILLED THE LAW. He did not replace it. Big Difference!
Because of Adam's sin no human Jew or gentile or fulfilled every part of the Law could be saved. They needed a Redeemer to remove the Tuma (stain of spiritual death) to be saved.
That was Yehoshua the Moshiach's assignment - to be The Redeemer, to die and overcome death and the architect of death - satan or the adversary, for all creation. The Books of Colossians, Galatians & Romans makes this clear.
We judge spiritually not physically - a Roman who obeyed his master to nail Yehoshua to the cross and the Jew who under the directions of their Rabbis, agreed to His death have the SAME SPIRIT(Read Isaiah 9:6), just as the pope and the Iranians who want the destruction of Israel have the same spirit.
The Jews, it is reported asked that His Blood be upon them and their descendants - The TORAH tells us that the disobedience to The LORD brings suffering (Devarim/Deuteronomy - Blessings and curses chapter). As hurtful that it may sound, we have to ask the hard question (because YEHOVAH'S WORD IS TRUTH), if the Holocaust fulfilled the words of those Jews who asked for His Blood to be on them and their descendants. The LORD asked that they be forgiven for they did not know what they did - it is not clear for who that prayer was directed - everyone or only some who were deliberately misled, for example? I do not know at this point.
With all respect, Nehemiah should get BORN AGAIN OF THE SPIRIT OF YEHOVAH - The FATHER, according to the Book of Acts (Acts chapter 1, Acts 10, 11 & 15, and examples in Acts 10:44-45 etc.) and the teachings of Paul in 1Corinthians 14, 1Corinthians 2:10 to the end of the chapter. He will then be led of the SPIRIT OF YEHOVAH and have a spiritual understanding beyond the printed or written word - Romans 8:14.

The New Testament identifies two groups of believers in Yeshua of Netzeret: Jews and Gentiles following Apostolic Judaism, and a Gentile faction starting to breakaway in Romans 11:17-21; Jude 3; 3 John 9-11. By the fourth Century the Church Fathers identify 3 groups of believers: the Gentile Church, Gentiles practicing both Gentile Christianity and Jewish rites, ie the Judaizers; and Jews and Gentiles following Apostolic Judaism. The Church Council Of Laodicea attempted to stop judaizers, and ostracize those following Apostolic Judaism from intermingling. Muslim Jihad actually accomplished the final separation. Both Roman and Church Council edicts were marginally effective. The Roman Catholicism was the last power block left standing after Islamization of most of the known world. Today’s Church inherited its biases and doctrines.

Mileto was no idiot. His problem is that he hates God. God LOVES Abraham and God's promises are ALWAYS Yes, and Amen! God made a promise to Abraham and his seed. In Christianity, we all become the children of Abraham, through faith in Christ Jesus. God's wrath remains on anyone who doesn't hitch his wagon (so to speak) to His only begotten Son. We become God's people by faith in His beloved Son. So, whether you;re a Jew or a Gentile doesn't matter. All that matters are the promises of God and God PROMISED ISRAEL to Abraham and his descendants. To preach against the people of God (as Mileto did) is to preach AGAINST God and His promises. There is a SPECIAL place in hell for such people. God's people are God's people and those who preach against that are of the devil.

None of the Gospels claim that Jesus was crucified on Friday and rose on Sunday. In fact, quiite the opposite. Luke goes out of his way to make absolutely certain that Jesus would be "in the heart of the earth" for three days - just like Jonah was in the belly of the whale. I don't care how you count it, Friday is NOT three days from Sunday. There are special sabbaths around Passover (as you well know). We know Jesus rose early on the first day of the week (as it is written), so counting backward, that would put His crucifixion on Wednesday. Just because a bunch of unknowing Gentiles claim it was on Friday doesn't make it so.

Yeshua was on the cross between the hours of 9am - 3pm which corresponds with the perpetual sacrifice called the Tamid. This timing is more significant than the Passover lambs. It is what we are warned not to do in Revelation. Christianity evolved with its Jesus god in the Eastern Roman empire. It splits into two factions, Orthodoxy and Catholicism. Orthodoxy calls down holy fire from heaven in a cathedral built by Constantine in Jerusalem since 1000 ad. This is the eastern Roman religion. The western Roman religion marks the forehead with the right hand. Slaughtered the saints. forbid buying and selling to expose heretics and has the image made to the city of 7 hills, Rome. Rome is the origin of the beast. The Holy Roman empire is the beast that "yet is" and is still going. The whores kingdom is the western Christian nations and her throne is in Rome.

That is the truth, not an anti-semitic statement. But in the end, Jesus laid down his life for all of us, no one took it from him. (John @-17, 1 John @). See Matt 25:65-68; Matt 27:1-2; Matt @-26 for the Jews' conspiracy and Pilate's hesitancy. On the Day of Pentecost, Peter lay the blame at their feet (Acts 2:22-23) and then offered them the same forgiveness offered to you and me if we will repent and be immersed in Yeshua's name!! A returning Ephrayimite understanding: Yahshua H'Moshiach gave the first Pasach complete understanding. He does represent the lamb of the exodus, the pasach of the exodus. The Father Yahweh, Creator of heaven and earth, gave the Torah to Moshe, and He made this miracle happen! After I left "Romanized Christianity," my personal exodus from paganism to truth found in the Torah of Moshe, I follow the abib calendar, thank you to Nehemiah and Rood. I do rid my house of leaven and eat unleavened bread for 7 days. Yahshua did not eat the Pasach in the year he was sacrificed by pagan Rome, approved by religious Jews. For me, the 14th is of course Pasach, the day Yahshua fulfilled (made complete) that Holy Assembly and all it represents. The lam's were slain in the evening, after the sun began to descend in the sky, toward sunset. We do not do sacrifices in our back yard! I do eat lamb as a memorial, and I eat it after sundown with my shoes on and a staff handy. I eat it with the bitter herb, hyssop which grows in my garden. I do not do anything bloody because he rose on the 3 night after Pasach. I celebrate all the moedim in Leviticus/Wayiqra chapter 23. Passover is a solemn day for me, a day of reflection, repentance, and hatikva (hope). It is a bitter sweet day to say the least. The resurrection day is not a high Shabbat. We go about our day, this time in hatikva shalom, a complete joy, knowing that Messiah did not stay in the grave, rather Yahweh The Father, our Elohim raised him from the dead. From my perspective and unverdtanding, there can truly be no real understanding until a professed Christian enjoins themsel to the Israelite who were set free from Egypt. We must walk out of our own slavery to mixed religion ourselves. Nehemia(h) knows, because he too has done it. I am NOT a Trinitarian Christian. YHWH is echad (one). Yahshua prayed to our Father, his Father as recorded in Yochanan/John chapter 17. He prayed that we could be echad as 'They" are echad. Lazy Christian's think that this oneness must mean that Yahshua (their Jesus) is God. I say a resounding NO, because that false doctrine not only make an image of God, but also bring mankind to equality with God, and this is the greatest lie ever told. Remember H'Satan's twisted truth which occurred when he (the serpent) told Chaua/Eve that she could "be like Elohim, knowing good and evil. In other words she could become a goddess DOING good and evil. This is the same false doctrine in today's modern Christianity which teaches that we are no longer under the law. I say in the spirit of EliYahu/Elijah, "Come out of Babel and live!" AMEN and thank you so much Nehemia(h) and company for bring this early study. We can't celebrate Easter on SUNday, it is too misleading. I say, "Yahshua is the Passover Lamb, not the Ishtar ham."
