Another tip I just learned is that every time you DO avoid spending money on something, write it down (along with price), so at the end of the period, you can see how much you HAVEN’T spent. If you aren’t good at seeing just how much you’re saving, it’s a good way to make you feel like you’re succeeding!
Thank you for this really cool tip! My budget plan is structured as such that half of my gross earnings go into savings and investments for the future. That way, I am simply unable to spend my money on useless things anymore. Really, make an insanely strict budget plan and you will be rich enough to buy a car, invest in a home, and go on awesome trips around the world with nearly any job in no time.
Nice tip, i dont write it down but if im tempted to buy something and resist (it does happen sometimes!) I put that money straight into my investment account.
what i can recommend is asking yourself if you would spend double the amount on the item - if you would, that means you really want the item, if you wouldn‘t, you‘re just buying it because it‘s cheap. helpful sometimes!
Additional protip: regrow vegetable scraps like scallions, garlic, basil, onion and lettuce. Effortless if you have shallow dishes of water and a windowsill to put them on to grow 🌱
I have a tip! I bought my laptop 50% off by getting the one that's been out in the store for people to look at. I never had problems with it and its been 3 years now.
Hey Everyone thanks for watching! I decided to split the video into two as I didn't want it to be too long for you wonderful folks. Part 2 will be out on Sunday morning at 5pm GMT xx
Thank you for this very helpful video! I like how you when it came to pre-packaged foods, you said to cut your own veggies if you COULD. I recently saw a short video about how pre-cut and packaged foods are very very helpful for people with chronic pain, etc. I think it's wonderful that you are such an inclusive and conscious platform! Much love from Michigan xx.
I don't know if this app is available in UK or other countries but in Germany where I live there is an app called 'too good to go'. Bakerys and Restaurants can upload leftover food which you can up in the evening for little money! It is for less food waste and also to get cheap quality food :)
Yes! I have only just discovered it - and there is also a great app called olio which prevents food waste and I reckon in turn will help with saving money too :)
Thanks for this video! My tip is: withdraw cash at the beginning of the month to use for groceries and other personal expenses like upgrading your public transport card, gifts at birthdays, going out etc. Store it in a book in your house and try to buy all the things you need during the month by cash instead of pin. I have used this method for some times now and it works very well. Because you have the physical Exchange of money going out of your Wallet you are less inclined to impulsively buy stuff. Also it is a challenge to make the amount of cash last throughout the month and not withdraw anymore. It saved me a lot of money already! I also make Notes on my phone about what I spend each day and what on. It gives great insight into spending habits!
I love your videos so much! I'm still using the bentonite clay mask weekly, it's so nice. Something to think about, if you're in the US, is to open bank accounts with local credit unions. I have a checking and savings account with my local teachers credit union and the interest rate is much higher, meaning I am actually making some income by saving money each month. Plus, I feel better about keeping my money local and not supporting a big bank that may be practicing some questionable things. I've been making it a habit to chop all my veggies when I get home from buying them, and then I'm much more likely to use them all for my casual meals. I haven't thought to cook the older ones and freeze them, that's a really great tip. Someday I will be in a place where I can plan meals weekly. Until then, the best thing for me is to prep the ingredients so they're easy to just use! Thanks for a great video!
Yesterday, I wanted to go the craft store and get a hardcover for my planner. I asked my little one if I should buy it, he said no. So yeah, even asking your kid if you should buy something, always ask them first. If they say yes, don't do it cuz they don't know how money works. That's how I'm saving money. One tip, if you can find out how much you are getting in your paycheck, subtract the bills and do 10% of emergency, 10% of savings. For me its 10% of emergency, 5% for my savings, 5% for my little one, 10% of a house. 2nd tip, always think you don't have any money on your card. It helps me out.
I have been doing no spend months, since Jan and it's March 2019 now. It's really hard, i have purchased 2 things at the end of feb that's necessary. So far so good, but it's very difficult not to feel deprived.
My husband and I are saving for medical expenses (baby) this year, and had to drastically cut down on spending. We already do most of the things you mentioned, so the change that made the biggest difference for us was canceling all of our monthly subscriptions- Netflix, Amazon Prime, magazines/newspapers, gym memberships, software subscriptions. We save an extra $100 per month this way. We also decided not to replace our 2nd car when it broke, and just get by with one. While less convenient, it saves so much money on maintenance, insurance, etc.
Hi, I love your tips! Thank you so much. But just some advice on the editing, maybe you can put the tips on the video on the bottom corner or something. It will be easier to read the exact word, or at least for a visual person like I am haha. Xoxo
sure thing - super busy at the moment because of work so haven't had time to really invest in the editing - apologies ! Will make time for the next one
I don't know much about finance, but I suggest saving with an ethical bank or local credit union. Many of the high street banks invest in some really ethically questionable things that really go against what this channel is advocating for. I personally use triodos, but do your own research and check how the bank is going to use your money.
Yes! I’ve been waiting for a video like this from you! I’ve been doing pretty awesome on my no spend challenge lately. 👌🏽 Thanks for the inspiration as always!
I would add "you're probably using too much tea". I mean I see all the time people who are pouring (can't find the word, I mean grounds?) 1 full tea spoon for 1 cup of tea. This is way too much, half of tea spoon is enough, you just have to wait 5min till it's ready and it doesn't kill with it's power
I gave my car to a family member and told them unless I can justify spending the money don't give it to me lol I also use a site called plum if your the type of person who just spends when you see you have money they put money aside for you. Iv saved a few hundred doing that and I set up a standing order with myself haha I transfer £10 a week to myself automatically this way I don't notice it then it's a nice surprise
LoL our water here in the U.S. Is NOT safe to drink. You either but bottled therefore getting plastics or a filter on your tap. I am saving now for a good filter system. You have saved me a lot on groceries.

That's a good one, especially for fast fashion.

E B I will try that. Thank you!

Love your video, I save money by not buying orange juice, I eat an orange instead, no packaging, no processing and healthier.

Sustainably Vegan that's great! I feel it can help people with irregular paychecks.
Michelle Fowlkes My son would say no so that I could have money to buy him something instead :) .
"If they say no, don't buy. If they say yes, they don't know how money works so don't buy it." HAHA

I don't know anyone who dries clothes in a special machine so it's a point for my country in this case
Great calm voice.

Yes! I’ve been waiting for a video like this from you! I’ve been doing pretty awesome on my no spend challenge lately. 👌🏽 Thanks for the inspiration as always!
That's awesome - its so great to hear how many other people are doing No Spend Challenges makes me feel slightly less alone haha xx
I didn't realise you could buy second hand phones with warranties. Could you reccomend a place that does that in the UK?
I would add "you're probably using too much tea". I mean I see all the time people who are pouring (can't find the word, I mean grounds?) 1 full tea spoon for 1 cup of tea. The phone one is incorrect. They come with data in the plan and if you take that into consideration it's a lot better value to go on a phone plan
Great stuff!
Why don’t you write the tips ? I can’t foloow what you say because I don’t speak English and you seem to have some great tips
I sill definitely try this!! ;D
What zero waste container do you freeze the cooked veggies in?
Literally anything ! I use an old plastic tupperwear that I no longer use for cooked food xx
you have such a nice voice
Wow I'm so early this is wild. Thank you for the video I'm always looking for ways to save. I'm hella broke. :)
