I'm 16 years old and my brother is 24. My mother and Masi is looking a girl for my Masi's son. My brother heard them one or twice talking on phone about girls and how they judges those girls. One day my brother shouted so loud, he said "bas karo yaar mummy, aap log pagal ho kya. Kisi ladki ke baare me essa kaise bol sakte ho aap wo essi hai wo waisi hai. Mummy aapko bhi beti hai usko kisine sawla ya chhoti hai bola to?" He suddenly stopped, he thought that I might have got offended, he came and apologized to me. But I was not offended but proud.
Kudos to your brother.... i wish everyone starts thinking like your awesome bro 👏👏👏👏
Awesome 🙌👏👏👏👏👏
He is a gem ...lucky is the girl who is going to be his partner
Good initiative by your brother. We don't have any right to judge people and make joke of their appearance. Its high time that we decide where we are heading to, a more open minded, tolerant and more accepting world or a narrow minded and intolerant world where people just judge another one.
Really appreciate ur brother thoughts..wish kuch log aur ho aise soch wale bohot kuch badal jayega
So, the noticeable point in this ad is women are judged by women, not men.
I think a reason for that could be that dove is a "female related products" brand so that's why.. but it might be completely wrong
Yup, if we actually dig a little deeper, we women are more judgemental and unsupportive of each other. Time to take some accountabilty. Let's build each other up.

Absolutely, u said my heart out. These are ridiculous marketing gimmicks. None of this is a kami, they're all beautiful girls the way they are. Society is changing & accepting diversity. No point making such ads & pushing the society 10 years back again.
Well if ads convey the right message instead showing fairing skin message, there's no issue. Many will see this and understand the right thing. There is no harm in changing their fair lovely ads to something real and important. Its a great marketing technique. So its perfectly fine!!
I know that very well. Half the people in comments also judge the people they date equally harshly, then preach morality 😂 It's just a virtue game. Nothing more. They were the ones peddling fair skin products until last year. A company is no one's friend.
My eyes are filled with tears watching this.. An ad that literally expressed the feelings of women..Hats off to Dove.. Let people change their perspective watching this
To all the men who are commenting that “men are also judged” !! Guys I agree that men are judged too and that is equally wrong.. but something which is wrong can’t be a justification for doing another wrong !! For now , Let’s appreciate that a beauty product has come up with an advertisement that condemns the so called beauty standards in the society!! Neither men nor women should be judged or shamed in the society for anything specially physical standards!!
Exactly, you are correct
True , infact I feel great realising women care about men getting judged too. Instead of justifying a wrong with a wrong, it's better to understand both things are wrong and appreciate it when someone calls a wrong thing out.
.
Most of time Men gets judged on basis of income, wealth, women gets judged on basis on skin color, basically physical.
Well i agree..; ...but adds are made emotional so they can trigger emotionally to buy their product ..
But this add ...there is something fishy in it ...like .if all beauty are equally important then why the hell they run this dove company ...🤦🏻♂️..
It's a trap ..these companies are triggering those girl who think themselves ugly and can buy their product ..

I m 29 years old. I met a guy 4 months ago for marriage purpose. He rejected me with a reason that i m not beautiful... I accepted the reason then after 4 months his mother called my mother and asked my mom about my recent pictures and fixed a meeting. And then his mother rejected me again...then my parents asked the reason then her mother replied that your daughter is not beautiful and she has scars on her face. My mother gave her explanation that she had lot of pimples when she was 20-21 for 5 years then what his mother replied why didn't you stopped your daughter when she was scratching her face at that time. My parents were stunned and hurted
I just want to simply request to all the boys and his parents....please don't insult a girl and her parents on her looks. Respect her and her parents by simply saying no instead of commenting on her looks.
This is so cruel. Tbh before meeting guys and their parents I used to think that world is not that bad. One time I just get to know about meeting 2 hr before they came so I can't get ready, I had oil in my hairs so I just made braids. But the lady said I am not the one in the picture. The girl in pic is someone else and she don't want to get married because she had an affair and I was just a replacement. It was my birthday and she told all this to my parents and I was listening because I was standing just behind the curtain.
And one other time a guy family wants his whole joint family to see me. They already came 2 times and they wants to come again to judge me. It was humiliating.

Mam don't you know any overweight or dusky skin girl who is happily married?? Don't go by what's shown in news reports and mass media. Think logically from your personal experience . Don't we have such "Not so good looking" friends who are happily married or in a happy relationship?? Majority of Indian society never discriminate or judge based on outward appearance. I personally know so many good looking boys earning handsomely getting married to so called "Not so good looking" girls and treating them like Queens. And those minority who judge outward appearance judge both genders. Don't good looking girls judge boys??Will any good looking girl get married to someone who looks like Rajpal Yadav? These people just love to generalise and divide people. That's it. If good looks are the only criteria for a Happy marriage or relationship, 90% India will die unmarried, single and virgin

It is for the very first time I've seen someone mentioning my state of Assam which is usually ignored because we fall amongst the north eastern India. Thanks for including us. But the thing which has been showed here is not entirely true. In our culture we do not have such traditions. Its very low in comparison to what the rest of India portrays. But again I understand the reason behind showing it. And I would like to request you to first do your research a little on our culture before showcasing it in public. Thank you.

The whole concept of arrange marriages revolves around choice and hence we are presented with these facts
Its high time now the concept of arrange marriage should be abolished and it should be a fundamental right of an individual to choose his/her life partner. #noarrangemarriage
💯
You think these things don't happen in love marriages? The only difference you're seeing here is in arranged marriages, someone might actually say it to your face why you're rejected. In love marriages, they just subconsciously know why they're rejecting you but they won't tell you.
Arranged marriages don't take away the choice of a person. You can still decline if you don't want to get married to someone. Tell your parents they're trash for wanting you to marry someone against their will. Half these problems come from the fact that the parents are controlling and abusive, then it is the parent fault for being this way.
Never expected a beauty brand talking about these problems....Great initiative dove
People even judge on the basis of what we wear and how we keep our hairs. If I kept braids then I am bhenji type girl, but girls with open hairs are modern. This is also one of the scale to judge others.

Kisi ne sach hi kaha hai... Ek aurat hi aurat ki dushman hoti hai... And by portraying such standards, these mothers are themselves paving ways for their own daughters to face this "beauty test", rather than bringing a change in the social norms...!!!
All I can say to such mothers is "All the best... Aapka time aayega... :)"
Who said that fair is beautiful or that only fair is powerful?? People have beautiful features in dark skin tone too! A dark person can have beautiful face cut, beautiful eyes, beautiful lips, gorgeous hair, glowing and healthy skin which might not have looked prettier on a fairer skin instead. A person can be beautiful in any skin tone. In my perspective, one who is confident is beautiful. However what majorly matters is the inner beauty-the beauty of your soul. Your perspective must be beautiful. Let's not abide by the illogical rules of beauty, the beauty standards set by the society. Let your own authentic selves shine❣️☺️

Infact i got judged by my appearance and my economical issue. You know if a men don't have a strong economical status hes doomed.
@@dracomessierrr1977 @DracoMessierrr My case, I was so confident till my 12 or 13 years of age... But then i started getting all these comments about my skin color and constant comparison with my fair skinned siblings, my confidence really levelled down ... I gave more focuse to my looks than my capabilities !! And I am done with it... The most important thing is don't treat anyone or judge anyone the way you have been judged !
Very true .and people blindly foloow Kardashian And their makeup.and its worst even when light colour foundations are more demanding and ...thousands of women jave to hide their natural skin problems from world😕
Most of these facts are plain untrue
Corset was invented by a woman named Roxy Caplin. They stayed in trend for about 20 years, by which time they started declining in popularity. It was never a must but definitely a beauty standard back then.
Make up was invented by ancient Egyptians. Queens, yes queens such as Cleopatra, the one who conquered Egypt and married Julius Caesar was one of the first ones who started colouring their lips and face to appear more glamorous. She didn't do it for any man. She was the most powerful woman in Egypt. Men bowed to her. Caesar traveled to her to make an alliance. Besides which, make up isn't exclusive to women. A lot of men, especially Rockstars and film actors use it. It's a part of societal beauty standards and men alone don't make up those standards. For instance, the perception of buff, slim males being seen as highly attractive and preferable mates isn't something men invented. It was chosen by the society to be an ideal male figure and it still is to this day. Fat men are never or rarely ever accepted as heroes in movies and hosts in TV shows for this very reason.
The only ones pressuring women to wear make up is other women. Men don't care as long as you take a shower every day and keep yourself hygienic, fit and healthy. I can't even tell you the first thing about make-up as a man. I don't know anything. Don't give in to peer pressure and cut off contact with everyone, guy or girl who pressures you into putting on make-up.
Chinese foot binding was definitely an atrocious thing to do. And I will concur it was imposed by men.
Girls covering their head has different reasons in different religions. In Hinduism, north Indian women started covering their heads during the Mughal invasion so as to not get abducted by rapists. In Islam, the Quran dictates women to cover their head/body in public. I don't know much about Islam but my friend tells me it is the word of God and their God told women as well as men to dress modestly. So women were to aspire to wear hijabs/burkha in public and were to be accompanied by a man of the family whenever they had to go out.
Firstly, it's ironic because the color of your soap is white. Secondly, most Indian women already know the stigma that comes with weddings and marriage and will be hurt by this simply because we know it, no one does anything about it, so....what's the point showing this when all you are asking to make them do is make a pledge. what will that solve? Instead, show what's actually happening today, a woman decides if she wants to be on Tinder, Bumble, or get married, the way she wants, who she wants to, because her partner loves her, irrespective of how he or she is. The power as a Modern Indian woman is in her, don't let some lame advertising tell you a generation-old story or otherwise.
Sorry sir there are still many women out there who have to face these things!

No point in objecting them, it's only like you pluck one weed and the next day another springs up.( I learned the hard way)
Only solution is that.
We have to love our selves and force it on other.

Fragile male ego making lot of noise huh😁funny
it is a fact that both men and women are judged, and there is nothing as “fragile male ego” everyone has feelings, if women don’t want to be judged on the basis of their skin, body and height, men too want the same. Just be a little polite with your words :)
The best way to face these beauty biases is to go and attend those family functions....you'll surely see 1 Or 2 people specially auntijies who r eagerly waiting to offend you by commenting on your looks.... #abtobaskro🙏
You are absolutely right.
Ab toh ye aunitya ladko ko bhi nhi bakshti.
Except for dove, all other HUL brands like lux, glow and lovely,lakme,sunsilk,tresemme,lever-ayush,pears etc have celebrities(paid in crores for endorsement) loaded with makeup and artificial lighting promoting them.Heights of hypocrisy. If HUL wants to be genuine, they should drop all celebrities from their endorsements. That would be a good place to begin with.
I believe some day our Indian society move out from these prejudice of judging women's.. I hate this..
I'm short and I was made fun of it by mum and uncle when I was a teenager and it didn't affect me then. I'm 20 now and saw tall girls in my college and even taller girls all over media. I have grown extremely insecure now because of my height. I know there are a lot of short girls too but on me, I hate it. I can't take a 'shortie' joke. I don't go out or interact because I'm not confident at all. Maybe yoga will help. :\
I am 4'11 .. And fat ..
I used to hate myself too. It took me years to get confident and face the world.
Dont hate it.. Short girls are damn cute.
Just so you know once , one of my boy bestfriend said boy like short girls . Others are just Insecure and jealous of you . Love yourself

A brand which has openly promoted white skin in their old advertisement is now talking about change in the society how hypocritical and ironic and we as a nation fall for this stupid campaigns.
Really... this is what we call a judgemental society...if one does a good deed we would just ignore it and when it does something bad just brag about it.....even out of product campaign and hypocrisy they actually spread a really good msg... can't u just appreciate that...

A boy lives in the house next door to me( I'm 13 only) he's a year younger than me. One day as I was going to school I heard some girls talking about him and here's what they said: have you seen the boy who lives next to to Isha? He's never gonna get taller is he? He's been the same height since 2018. He looks so short infront of my brother who is a year younger than him. And then her bf said: why do you have to say anything like that about him can't you mind your own business? And then they had a huge fight and then they broke up. This tells us that men are supportive to men but women they are not supportive to each other at all. Women are discriminated by women themselves.
It's time to change. We need to change. Something big starts with something small. If we'd be supportive to each other then there would be lesser casses of depression, sucide, etc. I'm not saying that men are not supportive to women I'm saying that women are not supportive to women. Guys I'm saying it again we need to change, the world needs to change.

It should be the eye opening ad for the Indian society. Every girls should be judge with their talents not with their beauty. Beauty will declined with time but talents stay. So girls be proud and strong to yourself 😊
im very dusky and my sisters are white as milk...my grandma keeps saying malai lagaya karo...my dad says we dont judge u with colour and proceeds to say aaj tum gori lag rahi ho..it hurts to be in such a family sometimes...there was this guy who was hitting on me and when i said my bestfriend is that white skinned pretty girl he just said "oh set me up with her" this is what makes us insecure....BUT IM A STRONG WOMAN, IVE FOCUSED ON MYSELF, AND ILL NEVER LOSE MY SELF ESTEEM, THANKYOU DOVE FOR THIS AD
Superb ad.
But I have to point out one thing. The girl with dark complexion, short height was perfectly shown as it is not in our hand. It is natural. And it is not at all a problem. But the girl who was overweight, she can get fit.I'm not telling just for the outer beauty or she will look good, but being obese is not good for health also. And I'm not only pointing girls out here, boys also should look after their health.Because obesity leads to many health problems which may get severe. It was just my opinion. I'm seeing this ad on tv frequently and that's why I wrote this comment.
Appreciation and criticism are welcomed. :):):)
Damn relatable. Such women shaming young girls are reflection & reinforced of their own insecurities. They were too coward , at their times to take a stand for themselves. Such nosy relative women deserve special place in hell 😠😠😡
Iam really happy that you pointed this issue , I think being fat being short being dark cannot justify a person . Literally respect to your team . I don't understand how can a person judge anyone . If a criminal is looking handsome or beautiful , will anyone marry him/her . It's the character of a person who makes him/her special not characteristics . I am taking a pledge today that I will respect each and every person and will not make anyone feel different . Love and regards from Krish jain ☺️
I watched this video as an ad and specifically searched it on UA-cam to give it a Like as it deserves to get one .
N to all the females out there , stop it , stop judging yourself on your looks cuz that perfect look will never be there and it won't remain always , what ultimately remain is actually our love for ourselves n for others around. Stop making yourself the clay to be molded by and for the patriarchy . Ultimately don't judge yourself and also the other females at least on the basis of looks
This is the most beautiful add I have ever seen in my life!!!
I believe that same stigma and stereotype are faced by men also. Fat, Height, slim, short and what not ? One question to the Dove company 🤔, then why your company ads only have slim, beautiful and model type girls tested for Dove challenge? Why don't you also take not so model type girls, as they don't serve your advertising purposes ??
Stop the hypocrisy 😒😤.

I am not pointing out anyone but Often what happens and I personally feel is that women only criticise a women! when a women will stand for a woman na then no man, actually no man can dare do this! Everyone is beautiful and perfect in their own way.Not only that particular person has to appreciate that but we ( society )also should accept them with all their imperfections and yes, as shown in the video, whatever we do with someone else's daughter can happen with our own daughters as well as what goes around comes around in unexpected ways!
Don't know about others but yes its my promise to me : neither will let any such thing happen to me nor with anyone around me!
and Yes thank you Dove for sharing such a lovely message!
Only a girl can understand this pain💔💔💔💔
This is so common in arrange marriages in India. Instead of asking "How is the girl like? What is her family like? What are her qualifications?" the FIRST question, as far as I've personally observed, is ALWAYS "What does she look like? Is she pretty?"
Having certain preferences is alright, there's no issue in that, but making that the top priority while searching for a marriage partner is what the issue is.
Ok fine, let's just say there's nothing bad in having the visual appearance as the top priority while looking for a marriage partner. Nothing bad till here. BUT, what DEFINITELY would be wrong is subtly mocking their visuals and making them feel insecure about it. THAT'S where EVERYTHING wrong lies.
Have preferences? Absolutely fine
Visual appearance is top priority? Ok good nothing wrong with that
Being passive aggressive and subtly mocking their visuals because they don't fit your preferences? GET OUT COZ THAT'S *NOT* RIGHT AND *NOT* OK *AT ALL*
I was also rejected by someone who had an affair and rejected me commenting on my looks ,joblessness and smone told me that he was saying that my sister was better ........today dis is a trend boys openly talk about their breakups ,their dreams ,their faith etc and r simultaneously having affairs, still come to "see"a girl as if she is a product......ugly trend of our society and the shameful part is that mostly the so called "SHARIF" women have to pass this phase for they are conditioned with the thought that this is the perfect way .......I really cannot stop my tears watching this ad.WOW DOVE TEAM WHAT A DEEP THOUGHT.👏
