Right on Rick! The farther we went up the dirtier the water. It was tough conditions (windy, rising water, getting more off-color). But Richie found them and we had a blast! Tight lines!
@@WillyFish to be fair, we were a long ways up stream from where you were (70 miles as the crow flies) but we did find a pile of them. The trick is finding public access.
This was a recent mid-April trip! We think it was still a little early based on the water temp, but this time of year there should be bigger bass around. Once the water gets much warmer, there will be more of the smaller "Dinks" around. But for this trip we went mid-April to chase the bigger bass around!

I usually start around end of april, but the late snows this year have really dumped alot of snow on the mountains which is pushing everything back. I plan to hit the water hard next weekend. So excited for this time of year to finally be upon us!

Best bass fishing on the Jhon day is jun through August
Went there 1 time and caught only 2 very hard to fish that place from the shore
It can be tough shore fishing. A boat of kayak helps a lot!
