- In this easy sewing tutorial, I show you how to make drawstring travel shoe bags. They are "sew" easy to make-you'll probably make a bunch like I did! You don't need a sewing pattern for this drawstring bag, and remember you may change the size of the bag to fit your needs. So go ahead and choose fabrics you love and have fun making!

Two issues: the white string cheapens the fabric used. Viscerally reactive to white 😂.
I went to the fabric store and solemnly said I will never use strings if I can help it. 😂
Lastly, the string holes fray and look shabby so my next bag, I will need to double up sides of those before sewing.
Such an easy project for beginners. Wonderful ❤.

I thought the extra threading was a bit much. I'd close up 1 sure to make threading g one step process. I made this bag teaes back from an old simplicity Victorian accessories pattern and it was a one step threading process- with a dividing liner. 2. The French seam adds a touch of class to the project

You’re welcome! They are undone but I don’t find them to be a fraying problem. You can always hem the edges before sewing it together. 😊

At the top of the bag where the drawstring comes out either side, the edges seem to be raw. Should these not be turned in somehow? How would I do this without leaving them raw/unsewn? Many thanks
Yes you’re right. If it bothers you, before pressing your casing in place, you can press and sew a .25” seam on the longer sides. Then continue with the casing. Hope this helps 😊

so you left the casing sides unhemmed ??? Won't they ravel ??
No they’re double hemmed

The top is double hemmed but there is no instruction for the raw sides of the casing☹️
