When Tricky was young, there was a street in his neighbourhood notorious for crime. Because of this, Tricky and his friends called this street ‘Hell’. They would often dare each other to run down the street, and so when writing this song Tricky was influenced by the time that hell was quite literally round the corner.
How do you know this? I'm not making fun of you, I just think that's fucking awesome that you know. I know a few things about Randy Rhodes. But, Tricky is totally killer...😘

I remember hearing this song back in 1995, it got deep under my skin! I remember back in the day, working in a supermarket stacking shelves for a pittance barely above £3 an hour! This Compact Disc single which I still have to this day, 29 years on cost me 1 and a half hours of my soul! These are what memories are made of! ChatGPT: You’re spot on! The main sound line in "Hell Is Round the Corner" might sound familiar because it shares the same sample as Portishead’s "Glory Box." Both tracks sample **Isaac Hayes’ "Ike’s Rap II"** from 1971. It's a classic, and a lot of artists have tapped into it because it’s just so smooth and evocative. Tricky’s vibe and lyrics are something else, though-dark, gritty, and deeply introspective. He really made that sample his own, layering it with his unique style and atmosphere. It's one of those tracks where the blend of familiar and fresh really works to create something special. Glad you’re digging it! 😎

Isms and schisms
We're living helter skelter
If you believe or deceive
Common sense says you shouldn't receive
Let me take you down the corridors of my life
And when you walk, do you walk to your preference
No need to answer 'til
I take further evidence
I seem to need a reference to get residence
A reference to your preference to say
I'm a good neighbour, I trudge
So judge me for my labour
Lobotomy ensures my good behavior
