As a Philadelphia Flyers' fan, I know our hatred of the Canadiens is immeasurable, but as a fan who grew up with the NHL, I learned PLENTY of the Canadiens AND of Richard, Beliveau, Morenz, Dryden, etc. It's through THEM that I learned SO much about the very game I love more than any other, even baseball! I don't know if many other Flyers fans miss you or not, but Lord knows I do, Rocket and always will! Thank you for being the great player AND ambassador for the game as well! RIP Rocket!
I'm from Peru. Came to Montreal 1989. Learn about Maurice around 2007. I already watch his movie "The Rocket" around 10 times. I'm not done yet. I love Maurice passion. The Habs need a couple of players like Maurice to start winning the cup again. Habs need players that don't care about the money or the fame... just the winning.
French speaking Quebeckers used to refer to the 3 Mauricesin the 50s: Maurice Duplessis (quasi-dictator of Quebec 1936-1959,) Maurice Chevalier (famous French crooner) and Maurice Richard. (1942-1960). He was that loved.... and respected.
maurice richard was the best , as a habs fan i always come with maurice jersey when ill play outside hockey when habs plays in series i love maurice r.i.p
@GaaraSand75 I'm offended by that remark. I'm a HUGE Bruins fan, but I also loved the Rocket. I traveled the 3 hours from my home in VT, to Montreal just so I could make it to funeral parade!!!!
As a diehard Boston Bruins fan, I REALLY admired Rocket Richard, both as a player and a person. He was long before my time, but I know he was like a God up there. I am typing this because while he's still relatively young, when Bobby Orr passes away, the city of Boston will have a similar, unprecedented outpouring of emotions too. They were very similar in that both were excellent men, off the ice. To this day, I've yet to hear a bad word about Orr. I'm assuming with Rocket it was the same.
No disrespect to Orr, but he is nowhere near the level of the Habs greats. Longevity and loyalty matters. Bergeron is probably a better example... and coincidentally another Quebecois
Class act and was interesting listening to his former team-mates. Man, have to respect this guys because when they played they did not get millions of dollars. Something to look up to and keep trying even if you fail at first.
@soccerchik151 My friend I am a French speaking Quebecker who watched in person a Bruins-Canadien playoff game in the late 60s. I believe... my dad who had season's tickets but hated sports, gave it to me. I went with my maternal grandpa. Orr scored an amazing goal and the Canadiens lost the game.... but what a goal. He was a great player.
@aidanhd500 Gretzky may have played against shit all for goalies but everyone else in the league at the time was playing against the same goalies he was and still, 5 times, he had over 50% more points than the 2nd scorer in the league. People say Crosby won't be able to break Gretzky's records cus there aren't as many goals being scored these days, well Crosby hasn't even come close to winning a scoring title by 50% yet so even if it was the 80s, Gretzky would still outscore him heavily.
@googleingking Greatest forward ever? OK he was great and he belongs pretty high on the list but the greatest forwards ever were Gretzky, Howe and Lemieux, Richard MAY be ranked 4th behind those 3.
Even the priests are crying and people have the guts to give this thumbs down...i just don't understand some people. we need more "Rockets".

If you go into Montreal or even to a Habs fan and say anything bad about Maurice Richard you are taking your life in your hands
Oui, qu’il était bien trop modeste...😂😂😂
No disrespect to Orr, but he is nowhere near the level of the Habs greats. Longevity and loyalty matters. Bergeron is probably a better example... and coincidentally another Quebecois
c'etait pas dans lui de parler mais, dans lui d'agir.
La voix d'un peuple dont nous avons oublier.
Now they are all gone. Gerry McNeil, Jean Beliveau, Dickie Moore and Elmer Lach. RIP Guys
@gogologolala its in respect for what he's done for hockey and for quebec. its a thank you.

Who Could Dislike that ?
Yazann it’s sad
"The madder he got, the better he played..." Ha-ha-ha, love it!
Class act and was interesting listening to his former team-mates. Man, have to respect this guys because when they played they did not get millions of dollars. Something to look up to and keep trying even if you fail at first.

Il en a fait beaucoup pour le Canadien mais encore plus pour la cause des Québécois.

@gymguy25 DIAF
I was there for this. But there is something wrong with a society that celebrates this and not the real cultural contributions. Hockey. Really?
monizdm Alors tu n’as pas compris l’histoire du Québec...🙄🙄🙄
