      It only takes 6 days to move the wine from the primary stage into the secondary. After that, you can let it sit for a few months, all the way up to a year before you touch it again. If you've got somewhere you can leave it and be safe until you return, you can still do this. In fact, the longer the better because the wine will clarify itself until your ready to rack it off the sediment and put the final touches before bottling.

    Hi there. I just watched your 4 series of bottling your wine. I loved it. Really hands on without over explaining things. Thank you so much for sharing. I am interested in trying this myself. Looks like an initial investment with bottles. Tablets. Siphon and stuff. Have you done a cost comparison like how much do you have into each finished bottle of wine. It seems like it might be more expensive to make your own vs just buying.
    Also I loved your commentary. You sound like bert... the geologist on big bang theory. Lol 😆

    • @PMGK
      @PMGK  3 роки тому +2

      If you're only going to try this once it will definitely cost more than the wine is worth but I've done this several times over and it, not only paid for itself, I'm now profiting. I got 34 bottles out of my last batch and spent $27 dollars on grapes. ABV 13%

    Thanks a lots for sharing sir. For how long one can store this wine?

    • @PMGK
      @PMGK  2 роки тому

      You need to watch the other videos in this series, this is only the first week. You have to rack to a secondary, then clarify and filter if you want to. To answer your question, however, I have bottled wine from 3 years ago that gets better with age so, if stored properly, it should last as long as any wine.

    Hi, what if I dont want to clarify my wine to a lighter color, for example if I'm doing a red wine can I not do the every week racking process ?

    • @PMGK
      @PMGK  2 роки тому

      Yes you can but clarifying isn't about making it a lighter color, its about removing the proteins and the tannin that cause pectic haze and sediment in your wine. In fact the next step would be filtering the wine but I haven't filmed that yet and it requires equipment most folks don't have. Technically, however, the wine, once its aged, can be drank as is.

    Hey, love your videos they are great. Just wanted to see what you thought. I made strawberry wine from fresh fruit. it is done fermenting. I ran it dry to get abv of 17.06 percent! lol. I added the bentonite last week and yesterday, one of the three bottles are crystal clear? I do not understand why the other two are so cloudy? Wondering if you have experienced that? Should I add bentonite again? Once clear I really need to back sweeten and add both campden and potassium sorbate? But...I want to keep all bottles at the same stage? Thanks!

    • @PMGK
      @PMGK  3 роки тому +2

      I realize you're probably getting anxious but always give it more time. Wine isn't something you rush. It really does get better with time. 🍻

    How long do you let it stay in the final bottle before you can drink it?

    • @PMGK
      @PMGK  2 роки тому

      Technically, you can drink it immediately but it's true what they say, "It only gets better with age". The bottles in this video are now 2 years old and I still haven't opened them.

      No, it's just not for you. Someone that is invested into wine making and values and see's the importance of the time and energy spent making they're own wine or purchasing it, will appreciate it. It's very cost efficient compared to things like an added basement to a mortgage or digging up and building a real wine cellar. Just think of a hobby or something you spend a lot of time with and I'll bet you've got some serious money and/or emotional value tied up in it that no one else can put a price tag on. Think of it from that perspective and you just might understand.
