This is a simulation of my REAL LIFE computer repair shop I used to own! Let me know if you want to see more, could be especially interesting for anyone looking to get into the tech service business :)
paulsoaresjr I always wanted to customize my own computer when I found out I can do that, but I don't know where to start or what to do. Any suggestions, advice, or some knowledge.
That's cool. I just went back to school this spring and am a student in IT right now (though not sure about PC tech, versus networking, versus trying to crossover into programming) so I find it pretty interesting.
It *is* educational! This is exactly what I did for 7 years in my own PC repair shop! :) Also, I did a "Day in the Life of PSJR" video many years ago... took a camera with me to work!
dna there was also a video something about minecon where he showed of a chicken hat he would ware so you could recognize him (don't remember the name though)
. I just retired after almost 30 years in IT and have been building my own PC's for years so I'd already checked out this game. I really hope you do more of these as your prior experience and ability to mix that in with the game play made this video, and hopefully those to come, really interesting and even more entertaining than usual.
Watching someone do something they've been doing for years is always really cool, because you get to learn little tips and tricks, or hear stories about it, and in the end it's better than just going into it blind yourself. So I'd love to see more of this pop up when possible :3
Yay a new series I like to see you play things that are close and important to you. Makes it a lot more interesting. Plus you sounded very happy while playing. 👌🏾😀
This was very educational! I found myself frequently pausing and looking in my own computer's window as you were going through the "building" phase, identifying the parts based on this gameplay video, as my computer seems to have a similar layout. I've had to take it apart a couple times, (ex. for cleaning out dust) but there are certain parts I wouldn't DARE touch because I'd be afraid of breaking something. I still wouldn't call myself an expert by any means, and I still won't dare mess with certain things, but...it was still an interesting learning experience watching this. :)
I had no idea you'd closed up shop. Always wondered how you managed family, business, AND a UA-cam channel! I still remember your office tour vlog way, WAY back in the day.
I love the video and the game, and I hope you continue the series! But if you do, PLEASE give us some tech support horror stories! Those are always the best.
Would love to see you build your new PC in real life in a vlog kinda video :) Think its a great Video idea, maybe make it educational/tutorial kinda video too!
Hi Paul!! I've been watching your videos since I was like 12!! (now i'm 17) and I Love your videos and how you are with them! I Especially enjoy your stories! ^_^ I think it'd be neat if you would Film making your new computer if you do end up doing that! Either way~ Love your channel and keep it up friend!
GPU's are also really good for anything that requires serial calculations not just games and graphics. In my office we have a top-notch gaming PC with two NVIDIA 1080 GPU's and it's used for running computational chemistry. I'm lucky that my laptop has a seperate GPU so I can run computations on it sometimes. Some people in the chem department run so many calculations on GPU's that they regularly overheat them.
Paul building my first gaming pc took me less than 2 hours. I think you'll find some time to build your own. It's really fun and cheaper too :) (except the rams and gpus)
That's just assembly. Then you have burn in time. Basically making sure everything runs and keeps running. If something doesn't work then you have to return it and get a replacement. Then try again. Once you get a working system, your mostly good to go. But you then have to keep track of each component , and it's warranty, separately. What he's saying is he doesn't want to have to deal with all of that. I have to agree with him. I'm thinking of getting a new pc too and in the past that meant me building it. Now I too am considering just buying one pre-built. Then you only need to worry about 1 warranty.
Scott Dunaway Well it depends how you enjoy doing stuff like setting everything up (burning time according to you). I haven't had any problems with my pc so far.
I laughed when I saw those posters of CPU Magazine covers on the wall. I had a subscription back in the day. Also, I hope they add difficulty levels where the goal is to build older systems running old OS's. Aside from those dang front panel connectors, it's really easy these days. Compare that to setting IRQs and memory interrupts on a Windows NT 3.51 build... [shudder]
Don’t install the CPU like that, because it could fall out, and the CPU is one of the more expensive components, so either install it with the case on it’s side, or install it on the motherboard (and ram as well) before installing the motherboard into the case.
As someone who is interested in building a new PC but without the complete knowledge on how to do it, this game interests me greatly. If there is more to the game, yes, I am interested in seeing it.
This is a really cool idea for a game. I wonder how they got the rights to put real parts in their game. I'm not sure why but this game kind of reminded me about a server my dad and I are building. Anyway, nice video Paul!
I would love to build a new PC of my own since the one I currently have can't keep up with newer games anymore. But the graphics card prices are too darn high!
Sorry to be a picker of nits, but I've worked in the microprocessor industry since 1976 and also have a wee bit of experience :D You pointed out the obvious flaw in the sim already... You NEVER install AV software on a potentially infected drive! Not only will the software become infected as its installed (Std. Malware behavior since the first Apple II worms in the early 80s) but your Thumb drive could be infected. Your procedure of booting your own OS from the drive and then running AV, or moving the drive to a dedicated AV System are best practices. The second flaw is a bit more nit-picky... The sim does not have you disconnect anything before moving the PC. I've seen people drop (and smash) CRTs to the floor doing this, and how many Thumb drives can you afford to give away with your (hopefully) licensed AV software installed? :D
With the way gpu and ram prices are right now, it's unfortunate that it is cheaper right now to buy prebuilt than it is to build your own. I unfortunately had to settle for a prebuilt pc. (I couldn't wait) it sucks because there is nothing like the pride & accomplishment (nudge nudge EA) you get from building your pc and turning it on for the first time and watching it boot flawlessly. I think this game is great, especially for teaching people who aren't very tech literate and would like to learn to build their own PC. This game is definitely a great place to start for those kinds of people.
This is interesting, but I can't imagine that the game is much fun. Useful, sure - especially if you're thinking of building a PC. But it's a bit expensive for what it is, IMHO. I'd grab it for a fiver, but not 15 (UK pounds). I used to build and sell computers too.
This is a simulation of my REAL LIFE computer repair shop I used to own! Let me know if you want to see more, could be especially interesting for anyone looking to get into the tech service business :)
Yes I want to see more
paulsoaresjr I always wanted to customize my own computer when I found out I can do that, but I don't know where to start or what to do. Any suggestions, advice, or some knowledge.
Wat? Are you joking? BECAUSE THAT IS AWESOME!!!
i want more
That's cool. I just went back to school this spring and am a student in IT right now (though not sure about PC tech, versus networking, versus trying to crossover into programming) so I find it pretty interesting.
Why did I think this was gonna be an educational video about computers and that we were going to finally see Paul's face after so many years lol
It *is* educational! This is exactly what I did for 7 years in my own PC repair shop! :) Also, I did a "Day in the Life of PSJR" video many years ago... took a camera with me to work!
paulsoaresjr Wow I didn't know about that! I'll make sure to watch that video after this one!!
dna there was also a video something about minecon where he showed of a chicken hat he would ware so you could recognize him (don't remember the name though)
I've definitely been itching for another "day in the life of PSJ" since the last two! (Well, one in two parts haha)
paulsoaresjr I remember that
. I just retired after almost 30 years in IT and have been building my own PC's for years so I'd already checked out this game. I really hope you do more of these as your prior experience and ability to mix that in with the game play made this video, and hopefully those to come, really interesting and even more entertaining than usual.
I'm going to school for IT tech support so this is awesome Paul
Hey Paul! When you build your PC yourself could you please do an vlog or montage of it? That would be really cool!
Gosh, this brings back memories. Can't wait to hear more of your stories from back when you had a shop and nod to it and say "yeah, exactly".
Watching someone do something they've been doing for years is always really cool, because you get to learn little tips and tricks, or hear stories about it, and in the end it's better than just going into it blind yourself. So I'd love to see more of this pop up when possible :3
Best part was the obvious joy YOU got outta the sim. That made it super entertaining to watch this vid. Basically...Yes More!!
I have a lot of respect for you as a business owner. You are a great person Paul.
Wow! This looks like a pretty great resource for those beginners wanting a basic idea of how the process works! I'd be happy to see more of this!
Would love to see more! You could tell stories from your old shop while playing!!
Yay a new series I like to see you play things that are close and important to you. Makes it a lot more interesting. Plus you sounded very happy while playing. 👌🏾😀
That transition from 'Turn on PC' to the title screen was genius!
This was very educational! I found myself frequently pausing and looking in my own computer's window as you were going through the "building" phase, identifying the parts based on this gameplay video, as my computer seems to have a similar layout. Hope you do more of this, it would be so good to watch!
It's interesting being an OG. I still watch your 100k sub video series. Very entertaining to watch for some reason.
Love this Paul. More videos please. I’m thinking of doing this for my future job.
I had no idea you'd closed up shop. Always wondered how you managed family, business, AND a UA-cam channel! I still remember your office tour vlog way, WAY back in the day.
YES! Thanks for playing this!
Great video. Can't wait for more of the career mode and learning more about building computers
Love what your doing. Keep it up Paul!
We built our own PC, I didn't know you did this for a job! Would love to see more!
Would love to see more of this Paul, thank you for showing it to us!
This. Looks. AWESOME!
Wait, What? I thought Paul’s Days were mostly chewed up by his Computer Repair Buisness, and I thought he still had it going, What did I miss?
I would love to see more of this. Yes I have upgraded my and my wife computers.
Reminds me of the old days in my apprenticeship, where I build / maintained PC, too.
Paul i say definitely play what you enjoy!
I love the video and the game, and I hope you continue the series! But if you do, PLEASE give us some tech support horror stories! Those are always the best.
Cant wait for part 2!
This is awesome could we see a series of this
Would love to see you build your new PC in real life in a vlog kinda video :) Think its a great Video idea, maybe make it educational/tutorial kinda video too!
Its funny how I probably could beat the game and still have no idea how to do it IRL
Zippy2707 then you've basically defeated the purpose of this simulator
President Clint nope its a game and nothing would sink in to my brain also this isn't school XD
Hi Paul!! I've been watching your videos since I was like 12!! (now i'm 17) and I Love your videos and how you are with them! I Especially enjoy your stories! ^_^
I think it'd be neat if you would Film making your new computer if you do end up doing that!
Either way~ Love your channel and keep it up friend!
yes, please make more of these videos
Excellent game for teaching a console plebs how to become a PC overlord :D
Now all we need is a PC over-clocking simulator :D
I want to see more of this YES!!!!
326 files! What has this guy been doing?!?! Oh we all know what he was doing alright. 😏😏😏
You should definitely do more of these videos Paul.
I did this Thursday for a guy and found over 5000 viruses and adware

You're the best UA-camr ever!!!
Love it! More please

You should do a PC build video showing you putting your new rig together :D
Yes, more please!
Where was the I/O shield? Take it all out and do it again! :P
lol, I've made that mistake before.
spent 5hrs playing this game. haven't seen a single io shield. i dont think they exist yest.
it's automatically placed when you install the motherboard

Awesome! Thank you 👍🏻
Cyberpowerpc is having a Easter special.

Pls do more videos with this game is amazing
This video got me inspired
Take a look at digital storm if your looking for a pc, I believe they’re fully upgradable
Don’t install the CPU like that, because it could fall out, and the CPU is one of the more expensive components, so either install it with the case on it’s side, or install it on the motherboard (and ram as well) before installing the motherboard into the case.
In the game it doesn't matter, but irl ya you shouldn't do that.
Not A Sentient Potato, Did you mean “shouldn’t”?
101ToonLink yup
I dont know how to build CPUs, but i got to admit, this game is educational!
As someone who is interested in building a new PC but without the complete knowledge on how to do it, this game interests me greatly. If there is more to the game, yes, I am interested in seeing it.
Take a shot every time Paul says "I used to do this."
This is a really cool idea for a game. I wonder how they got the rights to put real parts in their game. I'm not sure why but this game kind of reminded me about a server my dad and I are building. Anyway, nice video Paul!
I guess there weren't really that many brands in the game now that I am finishg the video, still cool game!
Whatever floats your boat I'll still watch everything just to see if I wanna play the game myself.
Would love to see moares :)
we learn something new everyday
I would love to build a new PC of my own since the one I currently have can't keep up with newer games anymore.
But the graphics card prices are too darn high!
Good stuff!
I like these vids
Go NZXT, they have a great build service now. MSRP parts with $99 on top! It's a great deal.
Sorry to be a picker of nits, but I've worked in the microprocessor industry since 1976 and also have a wee bit of experience :D

Paul. If you build your new computer, please show it off
14:35 PC building simulator-ception
Please do more!!!
Play more of this, please.
You should make a video of you building your personal computer and treat it like this game.
I want this game!!!

PAULSOARESJR!!!!!!
I remember you talking about your business
If you are getting a new pc please record you putting it together in like a tutorial fashion
The cpu is the powerhouse of the motherboard
you should vlog when you build your real life computer
I loved this game I would like to do it as a real job
I built and repaired computers for a living for over 15 years. The last thing I want to do is play a game about it.
Hallo I like your videos
Standoffs (risers) keep the MOBO from touching the metal of the case, but are the risers also metal? 😯😯😯😯
My pc has a GTX670 and for the procesor is an i7 2600k with 20gb of ram. Your specs, Paulie?
Wish I could heart this! Love it!!
Do more- daily series???
Will there be a Compaq or eMachines DLC?
More please
Hi Paul
More!
Yes just yes
When he says, "M2," instead of, "M dot 2." *triggered*
More!!!
Do more I wanna watch more
11:50
Okay, I'll just say it: that PC case looks like a red version of *mine!* O_O
For some reason I was expecting this to be one of those psuedo low res games.
Got semi modular for my PC
Second biggest regret of the whole process
The first being, of course, was deciding to build my own PC
Please do more
This is interesting, but I can't imagine that the game is much fun. Useful, sure - especially if you're thinking of building a PC. But it's a bit expensive for what it is, IMHO. I'd grab it for a fiver, but not 15 (UK pounds).
I used to build and sell computers too.
You should do More Pixark videos
