    2nd time watching this one. Pretty awesome snow machine Simon. Fun to watch. The singing of the tire chains reminds me of my childhood in the 70s in upstate NY, watching my dad clear snow with the allis Chalmers model b. Made the same sound. I liked plowing snow as a kid and I still do.

      Hi Matthew, it is always fun at the beginning of winter, it can sometimes drag on abit here depending of depth and volume but operating machines is generally just a good time.

    Cant say I have ever seen an old Volvo tractor like that.
    But the old girl still pushes one heck of a pile of snow!

    We have been given a reprieve from any major snow in ND so far but at the same time not making any ice on the lakes either! One thin I have discovered on my tractor with a 8ft dual stage blower and loader on the front is I spray both the blower inside on the reel and the blower section with PAM non stick cooking spray and I have not had any problems since I came upon this solution its a cheap way for you to stay in the warm cab when blowing snow. If we have a normal snow year I will be in the cab of this tractor for around 60 hours moving snow and maintaining my driveway which is almost a quarter mile long! The good part is that its fun for the first 10 hours.

      HI Karl, thanks for the tip, always fun for the first part of winter but can become a chore after a few months made worse by fuel prices.

    Chains make a massive Difference, I live in southern End of Finland Last year we had a Shed ton of snow my old 60 year old McCormick b250 with Front loader saved us, Without the chains not a hope in hell, Simple chain added made all the difference, Laughed then as it was -30 out for a few days none of my Vehicles would start, But the Old Micky Fired right up no block heater :)

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  2 роки тому +3

      So True, no way could I use my old girl without chains and again -30 nothing starts but the really old machines. The only down side is I use heavy spike chains so have to get them off in May otherwise it tears up the yard. Thanks you.

    Front right corner of the plow. In front the driver seat should be extended to increase your plow angle to cause it to roll away?? Try that if possible?? Plus a cab heater?? Lol

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  2 роки тому +2

      Cab heater! LOL I would need to put the door back on if I have a cab heater. Nice machines but cant see shit with the door on and twice I have been locked inside the can when something has fallen against the door! Not the best design if I am honest.

    Why not put a new metal or thin diamond plate

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  2 роки тому +3

      Cost Bruce, the idea is not to waste and make everything last as long as it can. A diamond plate would be equal to months of food if I could get one. So just weld it up again. Thanks for the idea though.

    Did you ever try drilling a small hole at the end s of the crack to stop the crack?

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  2 роки тому +4

      No, and I know about doing that as well, it cracked where it backs onto the bracket. I knew it was there when I took it of in May at the end of winter and then everything gets real busy real fast. Steel fatigues here faster than other climates and so I should have given myself more time for this repair. Thanks many eyes make for improved knowledge and skill.

      It looks like a LM218/620/621 by Volvo BM. Probably a 218 as it seem to get going too fast/easily and at too low engine rpm to have a converter, atleast based on the very sluggish LM641 i drive at work.
