EV's, especially Tesla's, offer much more than just an electric drive train.
    1) Superchargers are very convenient
    2) lots of places offer free charging
    3) the infotainment system is much better in EVs
    4) camp mode and dog mode
    5) driver assistance technology is great in a Tesla
    6) Tesla's are super fun vehicles with lots of new features added all the time with over the air updates

Think they want, 18 wheeler's, box trucks, vans, cars, etc. running on electricity, which would double the drain on the grid roughly, do you think it could take it, look at CA they've already had problems with charging and their grid is struggling.

Keep in mind that most families these days have two cars, so if Mom drives the minivan with the kids during the week you have your vehicle for long distance right there. The husband (we are talking a traditional family here with reasonable resources,) can have his commuter car for getting to work and back, his little economy street-fighter. I always drove an economy car, low cost and reliable, a Corolla usually. I looked at cars with more performance, but I could not get past the economy side of it. In 2007 I needed a new car and it was between a Corolla and a Prius, with the Prius being way more expensive, still fairly new technology, and marginally better MPG. I got a Corolla.
Now Toyota has solved the performance/economy trade-off with the new Prius. Once you get past the purchase price it is more economical than a Corolla and WAY more performance. I didn't think it could be done, but they did it. Yeah, it's not a muscle car, but it does get better than 10 mpg.
I have a neighbor that has a Mercedes SUV, drives it to meet with customers, putting in about 100 miles per day. He says he is putting $400 into the tank per week!!! (We live in CA.) Make that $1600 per month!!! My top-end Prius prime costed half what his Mercedes costed and sips gas like a fine wine. When he finds out I am getting 100mpg he is going to foul his britches!!!
I am looking at a 400 mile road trip this month, and I am not the least bit worried about charging stations, simply not interested.

Most public chargers will also add on an "idle fee" if you're clogging up a charger after it's done charging.

EV's are not for everyone for sure, not to mention that that technology and infrastructure are just starting to get build up so today I would only recommend an EV for certain people. I know hybrid (especially plug in hybrid) seems like a great compromise today but not many people are discussing the fact how complicated those cars are and how many points of failure they have. And while Toyotas have decent grasp on reliability other manufacturers don't and even those toyota after several years will start having some problems and even a small problem can become very difficult and expensive to fix. Pure EV's in contrast are much simpler but what scares most people is the fact they are completely different and there aren't a lot of mechanics that can work on them yet.
As for charging on road trips it's true that infrastructure has long way to go and it might still get worse before it gets better but if road tripping is important to you there some major differences between different EV's at how fast they charge and how good road planning they have build in and the difference is really big so you do need to choose the right EV for your use as some of them are pretty much useless for any trips over 100 miles while others you can go across country with little stress and only 15-20 min charges for 150-200 miles. It's not as fast as gas but it is not as bad as you think either and this I can say from personal experience as I also never liked stopping at all on long drives.
So while I agree with many of your points as of today saying EV's are dead is just not true.

I have a Tesla on order. Not supporting greedy oil companies anymore. Plenty of chargers everywhere near me and also looked online. i dont care about waiting 30 minutes for charging. Too many people are in a big hurry to get to destinations.
