- Are you tired of coming up empty-handed after a long day of Placer gold mining in the desert? In this video, we'll reveal the secret to unlocking maximum placer gold recovery in the desert with this one simple concept.
We've found that by implementing an electromatic charge to your Gold drywasher, you can greatly increase your capture rate of very fine placer Gold in dry arid Desert conditions and the Keene 140s does just that.

A little-known secret about using a Drywasher in the Desert is that if you apply a small electrostatic Charge to the box then you will increase you fine Gold capture rate by over 100% and the one machine that we found that incorporates this principal is the Keene 140S and the Keene 151S Vibrostatic Drywashers. Keene also makes 190 and the Monster 210 Commercial unit. Let us know what Drywasher you use to get that yellow goodness out ion the Desert and don't forget to smash that like button....SMAS it Hard !!!!!
Thanks Jeff, never knew that static charge helps hold gold.
As always, we learned something watching your videos.
Never miss one👍.
JEFF!!!! you are THE MAN!!!!!!!!
@@beepseatsfindingfoodtreasu8756 thanks
@@seedless-bud thanks
@ProtoTribal you'd be better off with a second battery if you want longer life. If you are drawing off the static charge to your battery, its not going to be increasing your gold capturing ability. It is also a very small amount of charge created. Cool idea tho, sorry to rain on your parade
Only thing I'd Add would be respiratory protection not just for silica, but Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis) which is endemic to the desert regions of the southwest and California, those of us who grew up here already have antibodies so its usually not as much of an issue but some of your viewers might be from elsewhere and it really stumps physicians from other areas.
I would also add if you use a mask don't assume it's doing a good job. Check it. If it's dirtier on the inside than the outside and you are digging adobe bricks out of your nose after dry washing you are breathing too much. Try to set up and use the wind to blow the dust away when ever possible.
That's great advice. Not only people can get it but your dogs can too. I had a customer who used to come up to Gold Basin Lost Basin area every year for a month. He was from Florida. I hadn't heard from him for a while so I called him just to check in. He gave me the grim news that he was pretty sure he had lung cancer as he had been sick and they took a chest x-ray and found spots on his lungs. He was scheduled for a lung biopsy in like a week. I said did your doctor test you for Valley Fever? He didn't know what I was talking about. I told him to please have his doctor give me a call. His doctor did call, he didn't know what Valley Fever was either. I explained it to him, told him to call the labs in his area to see where he could get my customer tested for Valley Fever. He did, and what do you know? My customer had an advanced case of Valley Fever where Spherules develop in the lungs from the fungus and it presents as lung cancer. Fortunately he did not have lung cancer but it took him two years to get back to being himself. He had to fight the VF with anti-fungal drugs, and it was not a smooth road back to getting healthy again. So like I have always said, Be Careful Out There. Common sense, always check the wind when disturbing the dirt and make sure that the wind is blowing the dust away from you.
Sooo Jeff. I see you talked about what my Grandfather did in Arizona about walking around in the creek beds, and such for the black sand, to look for gold. I was not sure that you believed me or not until you mentioned it in your video. You honor me, Sir. My grandfather would just put the sand in 5 gallon buckets and he had a collection of buckets filled with black sand. He used a vibrating table with a fine spray washer. The gold was very fine, and emptied into a maxwell house coffee can at the end of the table. He - like your father, is gone now and sorely missed.
yep that is how the old timers would find Gold is to walk the washes ..... thanks ... exactly
The footage at the end is simply great.
Old timers and less older timers in artistic photographs... 'A' grade material.
I am learning more about gold retrieval from your videos than any other source I have found! i cant wait to put the knowledge to practical use>>THANK YOU JEFF
keep us posted on your finds
Damn I hate Florida more everyday, no gold around here 😒
Good stuff, Jeff. Hopefully, the weather will get a little more pleasant soon so we can all get out in the field. Love the old photos, BTW.
I know...right . Thanks ....we do to
A government scientist and I became friends a few years back through meeting about computer Au .
During our times chatting it up he asked me how I was recovering placer gold at the time I was using magnets to catch horseshoe shaped black sand at the head of the box.
That lead into a very very interesting conversation with neodymium magnets and two minerals and sound waves 🔊 that is truly amazing to see and opens your eyes to other possibilities in the universe. But it also lead to me finding out there is ways to slow down gold and even reverse polarize metals. It would be tough and expensive to build a gold "magnet" but not all that expensive or hard to build a gold slow down trap
very interesting
I`ve drywashed once or twice 😁
hahahhahahaa let us know if you need any pointers . Lol
I have the same Drywasher. Not only will it pick up super tiny gold, You can run it so fast it will make your head spin. Nice Video Jeff.
Hey what kind of return is typical while drywashing.
@@MrKelly-oc5kq if you are talking about losses it's less than 5% when you are set up right. Otherwise it depends on the ground you are running. I have had 4 grams per ton all the way down to .2 grams per ton.
OK , it sure looks fun, but I live in FL. But someday soon hopefully im coming that way too get me some of that fun.
@@ominous9139 So on a good day you shovel a ton of dirt into this thing and you get (according to the date of this posting) $253.36 worth of gold. Interesting.
@@EricDaMAJ if you are on good ground yes and once in a while even more. Don't be misled though. It's a hobby and it's really difficult to make any kind of profit.
Hi Jeff, I use both a Whites TDI and a Goldmonster....I never miss square nails, split-shot and the elusive boot tack!

Awesome Jeff, I am looking forward to getting one. All under snow now, all the best my friend 🇺🇸🐾
Holy guacamole I’m 52 years old and never heard of dry washing, this is Awesome Jeff thanks for the video. Learn something new every day🎉
you betcha John
I love these educational videos 👍.Keep up the great work.
On mine I use felt and underneath that I use the good magnets running along my riffles. The felt catches your micro gold. The magnets catch pieces of gold with magnetize. Seems to work great for very small gold. It all adds up.
great idea Bob
You can use my method using the highbanker also. Yup it works wet or dry. Me and the oresident of the Temecula valley prospectors association put this method together
Marty Trotter. He turned 80 this year and were just passing the word.
This works with a highbankeer also. Read my comments.
Awesome content as always! If you ever find yourself in sw washington ... LETS GO!!!
Good job on everything , Ever heard of Eagle MTN. My grandpa had a gold mine off Rice road. Plus two uncle's Corn springs California . Going to two mines that My Gramps took me to.growing up.Taking a trip to the vault repail Hard ROCK MINE WANNA GO
RIP: Whites metal detectors, good video. Not sure if I can do something similar with Equinox 800 - Maybe experiment for blacksand and flow.
One nice unit, thanks for sharing, Jeff. I live in central Florida, USA. Can't seem to find many places to goldmine out here. Any suggestions ?
no Gold in Florida...its all coral reef there
I’m using my puffer ( Keene) more. Solar powered less noise. Keeps the snipes away. But it is heavy. Looking for a lighter puffer style dry washer. Thompson sold his business. They were great sample machines.
I'll tell ya, I've learned SOOO MUCH from you and your videos! Very informative as well as entertaining!!! ✌️⛏️😎
thanks
The original gold bug Great machine for that kind of work as tough as a transistor radio from the 70s that took a 9 V battery the threshold on the back was the weakest part and the headphone jack other than that if the switches get dirty you just wash the whole thing mild soap and water move the switches around let it dry work as good as new!
My first goal bug was number 000327.
Like the small block Chevy I will never forget it.
First two hours of running it a penny w.half 2 1/2 penny w.three penny w. and a 3 1/4 ounce .
Had a top-notch instructor I still think he’s one of the best many of his students I have found very large nuggets when he is instructing them of course mines at 3 1/4 ounce or but I’ve seen 8 ounce or one nugget over a pound from a new student and many moreIn fact one of his students just recently found a 34 penny w.
Yes you have to be put on the right spot 45 years of detecting in 40 years of it making a living at it the other five years he had to do a different type .
Sad to say we’re all starting to play that game kicked the bucket that’s what old timers to shame the knowledge of all will be lost!
This is all so interesting. I feel as if I could head out there and look for that gold! Adore the old photos. I could sit for hours round a camp fire listening to stories of years gone by and looking at old photos. Those stories need telling otherwise they're lost forever. Have you still got that tassle jacket Jeff? It'll be too big for you now coz you've lost weight nipper. So pleased I managed to keep my pants on tonight. Love to you and Lila 🇺🇸 from the UK 🇬🇧
Thanks Sue ..... we do too ....exactly ...... yes we have the old one and the new one ..... thanks and love that new profile pic
@@AskjeffwilliamsThank you very much 😊 I'm hoping to get it as a tattoo later this year! Hope the weather improves for you soon. Take care.
Hmm, whatever happened to the idea of putting a dust skirt around your dry washer?
Could you change out the muffler on the 2-stroke for a larger silencer muffler?
How might the idea of a static charge and vibrations be transferred to a highbanker? Or maybe using real magnets.
I've been in areas where the black sand is so thick it drives my minelab SDC 2300 nuts. Didn't have a dry washer at the time but I do now. I'd like to see the desert dry up a little bit.
That'd be cool to see a vid(s) of your pictures from the olden days of mining Jeff. Imagine you've got a pretty fair collection?
yes we do ....all the way back to when I was a wee lad
Dear ask jeff Williams sir You are very experienced you have benefited many people including me sir i want to know that gold is a metal and it is 15 sins heavier than water due to which it sinks in water. Actually I want to know if other precious metals platinum, palladium, Rhodium, and other are as heavy as this and how much if any Please let me know, I am eagerly waiting for your reply.
For some reason, I missed viewing this video when it first came out! Dayum I do not miss a single or have in over two years. Anyways, My hat is off the the Keene engineers. They really got it going on. Thanks for sharing Jeff. Love and blessings from Michigan.
Howdy Jeff , love your Shows and information!!
One of my grandkids Gabriel saw
My metal detectors and showed interest so I took a few minutes to explain settings .
Bro , he recovered a silver nugget , I was like What ??! I’ve been searching for 3 months and he goes out and in under 15 minutes comes back with silver . I knew there was silver occurrence from glacial deposits out here in the gravels of the transition of the Caprock escarpment/And rolling plains of west Texas on the double mountain fork of the brazos river in the gravels as the gravels came down from the Rocky Mountains (50kfeet high back then ) before the pecos river valley fell cutting off the glacial melts. It makes sense that there would be heavy metals and garnets and diamonds in the gravels as the are created very very deep and under extreme heat and pressures with precipitation of heavy metals from thermal activity . For a lot of people who don’t know where these heavy metals are actually formed and how they are formed to the delivery system of all the gold and silver and precious metals that can be found on the earth , You will just have to wait until Jeff makes a video 🤠
we have seen that same thing paly out every time newcomers have the luck ..... exactly ....that sounds like a great video idea ....thanks TFCI
@@Askjeffwilliams Dig it out !! 💯
I made a solar panel system 12v blower for my Keene after I work the kinks out I'll make a video.....
So many people worry about the gold are losing when they’re not getting any gold in the first place!
We spent all this time messing with the machine for a speck of gold don’t worry about the machine cover ground when you’re in a good spot there be lots of gold!
Keep covering ground move that material you can always go back don’t worry about what you’re losing or not losing should I say!
Figure out where the gold is coming from in only work that ground the biggest mistake I see is people trying to work everything not all material as gold especially not profitable it may be in narrow strips it may be right on top it may be right on the bed rock you can sweep everything off and only do what’s left blowing with the blower works good if you do in bed rock didn’t remove the light material.
Look and see what the old-timers did and where they work don’t don’t wander around aimlessly follow the old timers if they only work the bitches the flats etc.
Cover ground move material don’t worry about what you’re losing until he find something to lose you can shovel in them dry washes it fast as you can if the material is dry.
Remember the bridge and Stratton Vertical shaft blower it was just like the old lawn Moore’s
I run a royal mostly for the price like any gold retrieving system golden rule always check your tailings and make proper adjustments the Keen does have a advantage because of electro-magnetics static plate. I think I need some refresher course on map Reading in the different types of maps and what information can be found on them maybe some information on the Old Stagecoach trails and Dual Purpose of the post offices back then thanks
I run a Garrett 400 ACE myself hope to be finding sum good gold with her soon
Excellent video.! If i had a dry washer id work it in the morning. Id work in in the evening. All over this ..laaand....

I have a whites metal detector but it is 25 years old. I will be getting a modern model for sure 🤠
Ive never drywashed but when i do get ready to do it i will go with the 151s and if i can swing it a 140s for testing and remote washing.
Lol Jeff still had Pampers on in that flashback.
Very very good information Jeff !!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍
This is a great video explaining dry washing techniques.
As a side note, I've been eating a lot more beans since I started watching Ask Jeff Williams. I haven't figured out why yet.
me too
What I figured is that some gold will be trapped inside the rocks that we usually throw them away only keeping the visible gold. Crushing the final concentration is a good idea when drywashing ,gold can be in the black sand, quartz...
great idea
Nice work Jeff

I love the old pics of the old timers prospecting. Perty neat my Dad would say, that or, "Warsh your hands good" yes, Wash with an R inserted lol.. Hey, my Dad's an old timer born Prescott AZ Nov 1939. Merritt Hill I think it's called? Named after my grandmother's family. My father's Father built their family home right along that creek I keep reading has some gold in it up in Prescott. I really wish I knew more about all this stuff. Pretty sure I have some gold in a bunch of old river rocks. I just don't know anything about how to tell if it is or not... I'll keep on keeping on watching your videos. I'll start learning something, you are super easy to follow, very entertaining, funny, and you know your stuff. Thanks for all of your videos, I know a few more things about the geology of my native state than I did before watching your channel , super awesome content for sure. My Dad used to point some of that stuff out when I was a child, and I wish I'd paid better attention. That's what Jeff Williams is for now! You know your stuff. I'm sorry Jeff but you need a few more lessons in dry washing your hose is way too short I noticed that the wind was blowing the direction towards your motor which will load it up with dirt you gonna have air filter problems and your hose isn't long enough get an RV drain hose and have it at least 10' long to get this far away from your machine with that motor as possible also I have a homemade machine and I use a stillblower and I get plenty of gold so hopes it gets you a little more well informed I'd like to go digging with you sometime

Great video as usual, Jeff.
But, go back and check one of the spec's you gave for the static electricity. You mentioned a number of "milliamps". Static electricity, by definition, has absolutely zero current. Milliamp is one thousandth of an amp, a measure of current. I am sure the spec you wanted is expressed in "volts". Hundreds or thousands of volts. Don't worry folks. That level of charge is less than the snap you get from the carpet on a cold dry winter day. Great for attracting dust, like gold dust, but completely safe for you.
