- Deputy Terminated For Sustained Charges Of Inappropriate Conduct While On and Off Duty
News release #17-225
Who:
Pinellas County Sheriff's Office
Professional Standards Bureau
- Administrative Investigation Division
Patrol Operations Bureau
Deputy Brian C. Britt
Age: 45
Date of Hire: 08/07/2000
Termination Date: 10/16/2017
What:
A patrol deputy is terminated for sustained inappropriate conduct while on and off duty.
When:
The incident occurred between December 31, 2016, and January 10, 2017.
The deputy was terminated on October 16, 2017.
Where:
The incident occurred at various locations in Pinellas County and Pasco County.
Why/How:
A patrol deputy is terminated for sustained inappropriate conduct while on and off duty.
According to Administrative Investigation Division investigators, on December 31, 2016, Deputy Brian Britt responded to a dispatched call to a private residence in the City of Oldsmar in an attempt to locate a wanted 18-year-old female for the charge of domestic battery.
Upon Deputy Britt's arrival to the residence, he located the female whom was reported to have only been wearing a towel. Deputy Britt followed the female into the home and allowed her to retrieve her identification and get dressed in the bathroom. While in the bathroom there was a second female "naked" in the shower. The 18-year-old female was taken into custody.
While at a separate location and waiting for the arrival of the jail transport van. Deputy Britt was reported to have removed the 18-year-old female's handcuffs and had an inappropriate flirtatious conversation. Deputy Britt was reported to have inquired about visiting the two females at a local adult nightclub where she worked.
Deputy Britt continued to have inappropriate contact with the 18-year-old female including using his department-issued phone to send flirtatious text messages and set up a later visit with the two females at his private residence. Deputy Britt offered money as an incentive for the visit. While at the home, investigators say Britt's 11-year-old daughter was reported to be at home sleeping in the other room.
As a result of the administrative investigation, Deputy Britt was terminated effective October 16, 2017.
On, October 16, 2017, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri held a press conference at the Sheriff's Administration Building announcing Britt termination.

Wild stuff, have you ever heard a police official give all the details of an issue with another officer. The sheriff wants to clean house, good for him.
Yes. Looks Completely honest and bothered by it all and looks down on that man for what he did.
Sheriff Grady Judd does the same thing. Gotta love those two. 💙💙💙💙💙
Good Chef. The dept attitude comes from the top
We need more Sheriff's like this...
Yes, we do.... He holds his employees accountable......
Don't tread On me he’s one of America’s best he is also a lawyer
This Sheriff literally pulls the trigger when his officers crosses the line. Thank God.
Government agents are the scum of the earth.
This sheriff has a group of shady employees.
He is doing his job in holding his employees responsible
You're right about that. Going to that county would be silly.
10 :23 till the end would have sufficed. Member of actors guild wannabe.
They're all shady.
This Sheriff must wake up every day and wonder what is the next scandal he will be dealing with today.
I have never realised what a good Sheriff You are! Thank you for your service to this community !
I would like to hear the thing's he was not disceplined for? He did show signs of been A BAD COP AND A PERVERT.
You should spend some time looking at the terms of a lateral transfer between agencies. Then look at the Thin Blue line a little closer. Biker gangs and veterans are the same, which is why you see them together everywhere
Thanks Sheriff... teach some other Sheriffs how to man up and do their job. Thank you for your service Sir
Jeffrey G... Very well said. Thank you Sheriff for your services. You're a good man.
I have to tell you, He got this guy from another Sherif as a LATERAL TRADE . Which means he already traded a guy for violations. A cop can be traded and his record isn't held against him or published. That's your Thin Blue Line.
His cops keep him busy talking about these dismissals. He’s cleaning the swamp. Lol
I'd say the Sheriff is the problem
@@edwardgrimsley4401 Well said. A lot of writers say that . He is now facing his own decisions concerning who and what he hires and why. The woman was fine until she exposed the cops. He has to save the cops from an investigation.
I absolutly adore your moral compass...thank you for being the best...
moral compass.my a$$. he took this course because he was distancing himself from the cop who did wrong AND GOT CAUGHT
Laura pender. A man of honor.
@@medionlvr Yeah that's why he terminated him,if he had not been caught then he would t have been. The sheriff could easily have covered this up but chose not to.
@@thelyingscotsman7993 thanks for reading my post. my intent was realized
@@medionlvr Well said. Good stuff
What a good cop. Straight forward,no messing around. Good job.
ROFLMAO, You better do a little research, you may be surprised at what you find.
Obviously he hated every second of this. They will never, ever fire a deputy. Ever.
Agreed
What does her “extensive” criminal record had to do with this? He mentioned that a few times.
Donna Foreman he’s saying that obviously this deputy is being an idiot because he invited someone HE arrested to his house with his daughter. That seems really dangerous. That’s all he was getting at. It wasn’t shade at her, it was shade at the deputy.
@@Brianlikescars they do this all the time, I've seen it with my own eyes.
@@Brianlikescars Plus the fact that the cop was already a LATERAL. which is a term for trading bad cops.
@@transporterIII It's an old story. They get taken down for crimes they commit every day.
I like this sheriff he takes no sh~t from his officers and demands a clean house, a shining example to other police departments, well done and respect to you Sir
Looks like 32 deputy's have seen this and believe their Brother in blue got mistreated. He should have gone to jail.
Rare to see such transparency!! This man has honor and integrity.
Wonder what else he did in the 17 years working in this same jurisdiction as a member of law enforcement...
I love how he even started by saying his ex-officer was stupid. The sheriff looks like he's totally nonplussed. He was right on both counts.
is it not a violation of privacy to be announcing to anyone including press that doesnt have access to her criminal history . This is called improper disclosure of private information. And this officer can be held liable. Police cannot disclose any past criminal history to anyone , they may say , this person has a past criminal history but they cannot disclose what that history is . This officer should have known this before he spoke and seems likely that he was trying to justify his actions in firing the deputy . He could have just as easily excluded the details of her criminal history but he chose to include them
It is good that the police officer reported his concerns regarding the conduct of his colleague and it is good to see what was presented in this posting. That is the standard that we expect of our police forces. Thank you.
Regards, Geoff. Reeks
yeah but the reporting dude is gonna have a tough time now getting backup ,
@@animalm4st3r the guy who reported him will walk with his head held high. Period.
Great job sheriff. One cop I would greatly respect. We need more cops like you THANK YOU.
Who does the hiring in your department? Every time I look at you tube, the sheriff is firing someone.
Your transparency is appreciated
This guy is great. I don’t say that very often about cops but if all cops were like this gentlemen we wouldn’t have the troubles between law enforcement and the public that we have these days. This sheriff is a very good reason to move to his jurisdiction. I’ve seen 3 of his news conferences and he has been truthful and forthcoming about the truth no matter how it makes the person/persons of his command look. Wish I lived in his area.
I’m so glad that our law Enforcement in my area is so trustworthy that i feel so comfortable having them around.
If we only had this much effort put into the epidemic of cops driving drunk.
Sheriff we need you in California 👏👏👏👏
Why? California is a great place run by democrats! lol
THANK YOU SIR
This Sheriffs Office is always involved in some sort of criminal or inappropriate activity.
why does this guy have so many bad apples on his force?
Because it is getting harder and harder to find enough human garbage that will take an oath to the Constitution and then wipe their asses with that same document.
Looks like hiring standards are not what they used to be....or big cities have lower standards
This the first time I’ve ever heard of a police officer reporting another officer for misconduct. I’ve seen many instances where cops have witnessed a cop committing a crime and ignore it even when it was being video recording. Credit to the officer who did the right thing and to the chief for doing the right thing. He seems like a decent man.
Another example, repeated throughout man’s history of letting our little head override the big head.
is it illigal to date someone you arrested ?
COMMANDERHAWK22
It is but only when getting caught
Let's hope that this sheriff doesn't retire anytime soon as he is a classic example of an official that doesn't tolerate whatsoever any of his charges making a mockery of the law and treating the public with contempt ! He is proud of his job and as others mentioned on these posts that he keeps his department clean of evil doers and nasty corrupt officers .
We salute you sir .
It's nice to see a Sheriff who holds his deputies to a high standard of conduct.
Man Pinellas County has the kind of sheriff we need in every county in the country. Intelligent, honest, relatable. I wish we had this kind of leadership where I live....
This sheriff's department has a lot of dirty cop's
i dont get whats so bad about him, so far i only hearred that he was flirting and sexing the girls without doing them any favors related to law enforcement
At least there is now accountability .I hope it gets better all acrose the country.
Do we really need a press conference on all of this? What is the matter with these people!
We need press conferences like this where I live in Arkansas. It's common knowledge that if you're a female and stopped in the next town over there is a very high likelihood you will be forced to either "perform corrective services" or be taken to jail for speeding or whatever else they can come up with. I wish I was lying or joking but I'm not...
I hear you. I've had similar experiences unfortunately (when I was younger lol) and I know women who have complied because they were too scared to say no. It's rape.
OMG, is there ONE honest judge or Law Enforcement Officer left in America?
This poor guy has to deal with scumbags outside and inside his Department. How he keeps going I'll never know.
The kind of accountability law enforcement needs. Good example for other departments
Little late , but he was traded once before. For what? Why would a good cop even be traded ? This is Thin Blue Line Politics.
Don't worry some other blue line gang members will pick him up. He will be back on the job soon.
Otto graff that SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.. ONCE FIRED, NEVER REHIRE...
Called a LATERAL TRANSFER to another corrupt chief.
it's refreshing to see there are some honest moral cop's out there, not nearly enough of them though,if respect can ever be won back by the police,we must see police officers being held to account for any wrong doing
Politicians should take heed of the honest sheriff and his quick action to dismiss anyone under his consignment that is caught out for official misconduct/ corruption and underhanded dealings .
The sheriff is a prime example in his official capacity
of how official misconduct must be dealt with , swiftly and in accordance within the law . It would be good if we had an official like him to go around to all law enforcement agencies to educate them on dealing with official corruption / misconduct and how to deal with it , not saying that other law enforcement agencies don't know, but by the way that the sheriff dealt with this was professional by far . Otherwise it is a huge embarassment to whoever is in charge and it would reflect directly back to the leader at the time .
What the hell! I am so not able to follow this.
Does this guy never get tired of copsplaining his officers bad behaviour?
12:30 it's nice how the officer openly shares details of the girls' "extensive criminal history" with the media. Data Protection doesn't seem to be sacred anymore?
In the US most of your criminal history is publicly available information. Once you become a convicted criminal in the US, the govt have an excuse to rid you of your human rights. Initially implemented after abolishment of slavery to keep blacks as 2nd class citizens
@@aimanahmad645 lmao it's a tradition that dates back to before slavery. Tf you smokin, pass that shit over here so i can take a puff cuz it must be some strong shit.
Great interview! Much respect.
Apparently he's good at pointing out issues with deputies who work under him, but he was actually tasked with overseeing his own re-election and he didn't recuse himself, and he hasn't resigned because of it.
SAVE THE REPUBLIC.
Finally, a law enforcement officer who holds his personal responsible for the actions and fires them so that they wouldn't be able to get a job in law enforcement anyplace else, no matter what color they are big ups to this sheriff, for doing what's right.
I'd bet that the rest of the personal get it together and do the right thing and respect the badges they wear
How refreshing..good Man
*personnel
This guy is John Wayne for the 21st century.
John Wayne Gacy maybe
Sheriiff is so disgusted that one of men did this he can't even get the words out at some points
This guy went way out there and got caught
Most cops 2 out of 3 are respectable
But somewhere between 10-35% are dirty cops
Keep looking at your own people sheriff
Elusively and carefully
You'll be disgusted at what you turn up
Yes, you can tell he is so over this. Deputies are human beings, and he can't be with them 24/7... How embarrassing for the entire agency. Sad that these folks do this - I understand they are just human beings..., but sill. smdh
White Russian7,,, agree. We do have corrupt police officers/ Sheriffs out there.
They say we have about 50,000 law enforcement officers out there across America; And of the 50,000 officers about 5,000 of them are corrupt. That means we have 45,000 good officers out there. But 5,000 corrupt officers, thats still too many.
There are no good cops, if there were there would not be any bad cops.
Thier freemasons. That's why thier is usually a stonewall or coverup.
What a miserable existence that deputy must have been living.
Now he has a chance to heal and change. Hopefully he has the courage to own it, heal and change.
Win/Win
This Sheriff is a real stickler for details isn't he
Was it necessary for him to name the complainants and mention their records? Serves no purpose.
It does matter. He invited two strippers to his house while his daughter was home, one stripper he arrested. Creepy! If he invited a nice teacher over he met at work (not arrested) just to have lunch it would be a completly different. Their lack of character and his makes this very inappropriate.
yes, why do you hate transparency?
@@robpolaris5002 Fair point
Why can’t all “internal investigations” be reported on like this? This should be the standard of Transparency for all LE agencies.
I salute You Sir.Your County is lucky to have you! Big balls man.
Government employees take oaths ( law enforcement !) and those that do and deliberately go against the very oath they swore by, then the individuals should depart that public office .
My god another embarrassing situation to explain.
You can't make that shit up !
Should review every cop in the country.
That good Sheriff should go worldwide UK , Australia, new Zealand , Canada and teach ( with pay !) his international counterparts his fantastic attributes and morals that he holds dear to his job . Probably a "world first" idea ! Not sure though maybe it's been done before . Good idea just the same . No country is immune to corruption /misconduct no matter what Industry not just law enforcement but other government departments , private businesses , whatever! and must be stamped on and out .
Why does the reporting "victim" get her name dragged through the mud? Like the sheriff said, "it doesn't matter what she did" so why degrade her image like that?
Can you come to Michigan next?
Sad part I bet this shit happens all the time. Yet those departments and sheriff dont have the moral compass they should like this sheriff does
Pinellas county seems to fire a lot of deputies for misconduct
Id hate to be on that county
Everything here is good in that the complaint worked its way up the chain. The deputy should have been canned but this level of exposing his wrongdoing is kind of creepy. This is where I am in conflict on transparency. I am all for it but I'm not sure I wanna watch sausage being made in a press conference. Would not be surprised to read that this cop 'took the pipe' in a couple of months like so many cops do.
Hey You he made his bed let him lie in it.
this is normal, they just got caught and had to do something for the cameras
Yep. If they hadn't gotten caught, this would've been a fun story the boys shared in the locker room or at the station. They only did what they had to, not because they wanted to.
Good Job Sheriff You get my vote In November !
You can’t make this shit up.
Like a boss.
Not sure if it’s cuz I’m sleepy but I’m completely confused with who’s who lol
Sounds like deputy Quagmire. Haha
No trouble or complaints since 2008, probably because of the way the complaints are usually handled. Handling your own internal investigations is a BIG conflict of interest.
Dressed as the Hulk… Lmao
The evidence is overwhelming, and there's enough untoward past behavior!
The chief had no choice, not of any moral fortitude.
if there was a clear chance, to employ the thin blue line, he would have!
Many of these riff raff cops were hired before he became sheriff, I believe.
If all sheriff's were like this guy a majority of the bs In the police departments would get better
Where do they find these clowns at? We need more good cops like this man to clean house. We need more Pubic Servants like him.
a man of character , a rare thing nowadays . good for him .
Florida, of course ...
I think I read this in Penthouse forums
That’s what these demons do!
hold on! they were showering together!....... more details please.
On and on again in Pinellas County you guys need a complete overhaul shame shame shame
Everybody gets fired there lol
She was probably a confident informant in other words a narc.
this doesnt even seem like an offense that would need to be reported , if you compare it to most of the violent abuse cops give to innocent people , this one seems rather stupid as to a beating or murder or excessive force
So in other words, anybody worth anything doesn’t want to be a Cop 👮?
Thank You Sir. True Leader.
Sadly, even 20 years ago, no cops would've cared enough to report this. The old boys- club mentality. I've had cops openly hit on me in an open manner while arresting me or during an investigation where i was a witness (just a fender bender), while I'm at a cop shop. Very uncomfortable and awkward and inappropriate. And it was recorded in the room but cops didn't think it was anything. This is one of the positive aspects of the current change that this stuff is no longer tolerated or thought of as normal. I know that people are people and cops are human but while they are cops, they need to act in a manner above civilians. He can do what he wants in his private life but not with people he's engaged with in the course of his job. Hope he gets his stuff together
The thing I have to wonder is how this guy wasn't already seen for what he is. The lack of character goes with being a corrupt cop. It doesn't take that long .
They knew. They had to. This is all for show because it came out in public.
Geeze when I did stupid stuff I was arrested!!! Was he !! Go figure
The whole thing is just plain wrong.
Brit got his just desserts, but I hope he gets his life together for his daughters sake. This a very sad story all the way around.
this is a great cop good job
Anyone else have mixed feelings about people being forbidden from exercising the right to consentually have personal relations with other human beings? There are many reasons why this can cause bias troubles that can cause injustice. Though I find it sad how dehumanizing this mans perspectives are on human to human interaction. Not that she sounds like a keeper. I'd of talked to him as a friend "What are you doing to yourself?" "Look at the kind of person this is you're inviting to your life." It may be harder to do things when we treat everyone as a with empathy and real human being , its also easier to see how we effect other humans outside our immediate job responsibilities and the fuller effect we have on the world. Having citizens and government agents looking at each other as people that only do their job and refuse to look at you as a normal human being can create a rather alienating mentality that makes it rather difficult to reach compassionate mutual understanding that helps bring peace harmony and a safer more civil world. Not that she sounds like shes about to reach that kind of state in life. Is this deputy (nameless dehumanizing label) really so lonely , desperate , or careless to persue that kind of character and bring her into his life? Maybe what he really needs is a good friend or role model.
Can he now go to another force and be hired. That wld make no sense.
now investigate any partners hes had and friends on force.do know, hes not alone in this type of shit.
HIS INCOME IS...ZERO DOLLARS NOW!!!!
Ive been in a similar situation. I did engage the officer but he used intimidation to gain access to my home and he actually took off his holster, shirt and bullet proof vest in my bedroom. He was on duty too. I didnt want to have sex with him I was 19 and very sexually inexperienced. He promised he would ride by all the time to make sure I got to work safe. Thinking back I didnt object loud enough but I was scared. His advances didnt end until i moved 5 months later.
I've had similar experiences and it's atrocious. And never your fault. They are scary and intimidating, especially when you're younger.
