it´s been 7 years of a plantbased life style for me🥬 and you were one of the first vegan youtubers I started following in those early days, you guys were living in Berlin -I remember-
Can you please make quick videos on vegan recipes (that r filling)? I always get so hungry when I'm on plant based diet. Some said me just to stuff myself with carbs, coz there is no other option!
Congratulations for being vegan for 15,5 years! It's so nice, seeing a youtuber that stayed vegan and is actually concerned about animal rights. I am vegan since 11 years too. 😘
I've been Vegetarian for 11 years, now vegan for 4. The only thing I miss about being not vegan is the convenience. I live in rural Germany, so there are no cool vegan restaurants around - I'm lucky if the salad doesn't come with bacon cubes. I miss being able to just go in the bakery and pick up a pastry. But I never actually miss meat or dairy.
I can relate to that, although I am living in a big city. But because of an allergy to soy (and some more) my options are pretty limited already, and even more when trying to find something vegan or at least vegetarian when I am not at home.
this was so great! I identified with everything you said. The difference is that I just turned Vegan at age 72. 5 months ago. I really bought into the protein myth prior to this. I have never felt better. My health problems are disappearing. I feel stronger. And yes more spiritually and morally aligned with who I really am. This is the first video of yours I have watched. I loved seeing the food you had laid out.
Ironically it’s calcium and iron and other random things people tend not to think of that tend to be low. What are you a body builder or elite athlete trying to lose fat and build muscle at the same time aiming to get 2 gram of protein per kilogram of body mass? Easier as a vegetarian.
I’ve been vegan for 9 years, and the only negative I have is to do with going home, but not because I miss eating the food. Because it hurts to see the people I love still participating in cruelty. I can’t get my head around it :(
I went vegan as a freshman in high school in 2015. The end of March was my 8th year vegan anniversary! I was 14 back then and I'll be 23 next month so my family has realized that it's definitely not a phase. 😂
I went vegan when I was 19, and about 2 weeks into it my mom said "it's just a fad". Now it's been 6.5 years and my family also sees it as just my way of life.
@@v.a.n.e. I'm sorry to break it to you my friend, but I will never quit being vegan. The good news is that no one is forcing you to make the same "mistakes" as me. 😂 Though I hardly think not killing animals and having decent cholesterol is a mistake. Take care. ✌🏻
I so loved your cooking and food videos back when you did them! I miss them and was sad when you took them down off of your platforms. I vote for bringing them all back!!!!!
I’ve been vegetarian/vegan for 30 years. During that time tried raw and vegan keto but always go back to the staples which you mentioned. The congee you make is similar to the khichari I make. Looking forward to reading your book!
i'm eating plant based since january 2020 and i can't imaging going back to eating animal products, however i do still struggle sometimes with clothing items especially shoes
I'm vegan from 13 years, still happy about my choice, but it's harder for me because of IBS, so I discovered 5/6 years ago that I need to avoid a lot of types of veggies, fruits and legumes to stay symptoms free. I decided to stay vegan if it was manageable for my body and mind and it works. I don't have any other issues and following my diet helps a lot with the IBS symptoms.
@@unsoundmedia I followed the Low Fodmap protocol. The list is long and it varies from person to person according to the personal sensitivity. There are also foods that are good when conserved, but not fresh (like legumes and also here I tollerate them, but they are not recommend in the quantity I eat them).
IBS here too, and I've had a really hard time getting from vegetarian to vegan. I've done low FODMAP resets a few times, but I'm still working at it with the help of a dietician. Anyway, this comment is helping me be optimistic, so thanks!
I was pescaterian since the age of 11 and gradually became vegetarian. Nowadays my diet is approx. 70% vegan. Whenever I have a cheese and dairy period, which is usually around the big holidays, I get all bloated, soggy and tired and my skin breaks out. So I quickly go back to my colorful vegan meals that are so energizing and full of flavor. When I eat mostly plan based my body is flexible, light, full of energy and my skin is clear and bright. Oh and I sleep better.
I'm also 15 years vegan + 10 years vegetarian prior to that. 1. The health benefits came from discovering various allergies and issues. 2. The being cheerful part came from learning how to deal with life, nothing to do with veganism. 3. Being non-aggressive... That's my entire life, I can certainly be angry at stuff though. 4. I have nothing to miss prior to being vegan, that stuff ain't for me in any way. Veganism affects everyone differently, and not allot of people actually stick to it, only those that it fits them. I actually hardly ever talk to other vegans, I got very little in common with them. I'm a wacko animator, I have very little in common with most people xD
I do my part in honoring our planet by being vegan, using cloth paper products including cloth toilet paper and using reusable shopping bags. I even drive a safe, slower speed than most. I have so little in common with most people it's hard sometimes to not get down about it but i do my best to feel patience And compassion.
Hello from Brazil! I have been vegan for almost 4 years. I feel the same as you, I've never missed meat or cheese, I feel more connected with my body and have more energy. I'm not as aggressive as I used to be, PMS is over and I feel like I am a less cynical person.
I first started following you when you were primarily a food blog, and I so miss your recipes! I still use some of those recipes like apple turmeric porridge and no-bake choco banana slices. You are so talented with recipe development, I would buy your cookbook any day!
I’m so glad you joked about the protein deficiency! I get all my protein from beans and lentils, broccoli etc. Everyone says “Where do you get your protein? Ad infinitum. I simply don’t answer anymore!
Vegan for the animals 💚 just over 4 years now. I feel like I’m living in a different decade than you though because where I live I don’t even know another vegan irl. So grateful to have stopped harming animals though. Mostly wfpb too 🌱✌🏻
positive surprises for me: i almost never get sick in the winter anymore. i almost never feel tired after a big meal. my family supports cooking vegan although they don't want to make the switch themselves. negative surprises: meat eaters and vegetarians often want to talk about or educate me on veganism or "fake meat" (in an annoying way) or feel attacked when i just want to eat. eating out when traveling can be a challenge.
Would love some recipe/food vids from you Jenny! Been vegetarian now for 6-7years and could use some inspo and tips to make healthy, budget friendly food ❤ thank you again
Congratulations!! And it gives me goosebumps as you talk about not disconnecting your sweet naive, vulnerable, caring, soft inner ( maybe child ) selfs. It s really an aspect which goes so deep and goes beyond morals towards joy, selfceare and wholeness of life-very encouraging!!
Same! I loved that part so much. I always say that going vegan helped me align what's on my plate with what is in my heart. It just makes sense to me to eat and live this way, and I loved hearing you describe that aspect of veganism ❤ Sending love to all my fellow vegan lover-girls/people out there 🥰✨
Loved your video. This is the first time I’ve seen you, I’ve missed too much of your life! I’ve been vegetarian since 1994, and vegan since the year 2000. There is a HUGE difference in what food is available now. Back when I started vegan, it was really only beans and tofu. As far as dating a non-vegan, I don’t base my attraction on another person on what they eat/don’t eat. I live with a pescatarian/chicken/turkey eater. Yes, it smells up my kitchen when he cooks these foods, and I insist all fish cooking is done on the grill outside. But he’s a fabulous, loving, caring man, that it’s a non-issue otherwise. I give him the food I cook from scratch, which he loves. He’s mentioned many times that he could easily go vegan, if I cooked like this every night. Some nights I just want a potato, so it’s not every day that I will make a big meal. I will make a soup and have that same soup for the rest of the week for my dinner. I also have a gentle, caring side to me, that probably didn’t happen until much later in my vegan life. I also can’t imagine ever eating meat, or why I even liked it back in my youth. If I have a social function to attend, I will eat my own food beforehand, because I’d rather just be around interesting people, than worry about what I’m going to eat. If it’s only a few hours, I can do without the food anyway.
Vegan for the animals. Life can be hard when your social circle doesn't /hasn't explored the horrors that the animals are going through. But, always remember that change will never happen if we continue to be observers. Only by taking action, will change ever dare occur. I hope you all have a wonderful day today 💚
This is such an inspiring video - your effortless positivity and clarity of purpose is invigorating! I echo others in the comments in the desire for a cookbook. Even something very small, and very simple. Maybe base recipes like congee with seasonal variations you enjoy. Maybe part memoir around your experiences/relationship with food, vegan culture, natural world appreciation. Maybe a collaboration with your favorite illustrator... Or maybe, a character could write a cookbook/memoir... I vote yes on more foodie/lifestyle content :)
I’m going on 10 years meat free, 6 vegan. I like your mention of decision fatigue! I’ve always said the worst thing to me about being vegan is the lack of convenience and variety…however, there’s honestly enough! Even when I’m out with my omni friends, I always get by. I’m going to try my best to turn that negative view into a positive one, thank you.
I am vegan for 1.5 years now, but I am still struggling with finding the right balance in practice. But being vegan feels so good in the heart. Knowing that I actively stand against the violence is so soothing and brings me so much joy that I would never go back.
Me and my 2 youngest children are plant based. My eldest son recently said he was going fully plant based. I had told him he could eat whatever he wanted as long as he paid for it himself. So fast food and what not. My husband is pesceterian but rarely eats seafood and only outside the home since our kids are allergic to it.
Enjoyed your video! I have been vegan for 16 years this June. And started very much the way you did. One thing I noticed several years later was that right around that time there was a shift in my spirituality and I found that certain gifts I had, as a child, began to come back in full force. It has been amazing ever since, and I agree with everything you had to say I think we’ve all had to find our way and thank heavens it’s been easier these days.
I absolutely love this video. I'm wondering if, in the future a vegan cookbook would be coming? I know you had one published before but not in English. ❤
We'd love to see a video of your vegan recipes. Question though... have you ever used Next Level Diet? I got a custom high-protein meal plan from them and it's really working for me.
In my life I was raised meat-eating, went vegan for about 6-7 years, and recently switched back to meat-eating/omnivore. Switching back and forth made me realize what a difference it makes in your heart, but I don't know how to say it because it sounds too sentimental- you're right though, it gets you in touch with the gentle side of yourself. I was a kinder and gentler person when I was vegan, to people as well as animals. The difference in my own psychology and behavior is noticeable and shocking (even though right now I eat very little meat/animal products, and when I do it's all pasture raised/ humanely grown, blah blah blah. The difference between that and vegan is still huge.) I like that you talked about that, it's one of the biggest reasons I think I'm going to go back to it. I feel like I might be betraying a part of myself and others in the world by choosing the less gentle way. Our thoughts and values influence our actions, but our actions also influence our values and our thoughts.
Idk your reasons for going back to Omni... Buuuuuut, you can always view it as more of a spectrum. Been vegan 5.5 years now but I have had dairy or eggs a few times due to extenuating circumstances where it just wasn't possible not to unless I starved myself... So, if you wanted, you could go vegetarian and view it as a spectrum... It doesn't have to be all or nothing. It'd be better for the animals if everyone drastically cut down rather than a few people cutting it out all together... If it's some sort of deficiency that was created, by all means, please take care of yourself. If it's just a convenience thing... Please consider keeping some stuff prepped and in the fridge ready for later.
i’ve always had trouble with iron-deficiency so everyone around me was concerned about me going vegan almost seven years ago now, but actually my blood work results were so much better already only a year in than they ever were before!! you mentioning the lack of protein ppl always mention immediately made me think of that
Fellow vegan here, this is such an interesting video, I love it!! 😍 In my case, after going vegan I started to become REALLY interested in wildlife and animal welfare so that I decided to sort of start a whole new path in life. Even though I had already finished uni, I started studying biology and researching alternatives to animal testing ... and I'm now living together with a bunch of former lab rats because I try to help getting them out of the labs as often as I can. 😂 5 years ago I thought I'd spend my life working abroad as a translator, living in big cities and travelling all the time - now I'm doing the opposite and couldn't be any happier. 😅
Wow how nice to read that, great path. Similar here, this is incredible I think how we change. 😁😁💚 I became a wild herbs expert, fermentista, wrote 2 vegan books, startet 2 gardens and am so much more sensitive to the nature. I love this development 😍
We’ve also been vegan 15 years and I’ve been thinking about making a video about it too, then your vid comes up for me! Very cool, thanks so much for sharing 😊❤️
Just found your channel! ❤ New sub! I was vegan for 6.5 years, vegetarian 4yrs now but been having a bunch of digestive issues for months! I think I need to go back. Your meals look so nice and simple! Have you made any meal vids or what I eat in a day vids? Would love to see! 😊
I'm 12 years vegan. My Dr did blood tests and I have plenty of iron reserve and she's so impressed with my cholesterol score! I just love the way I eat and never feel deprived.
Do you have the recipe for your congee? It sounds so good! ❤ I used to be vegan for three years, but my B12 vitamin level were a real struggle as well as the many allergies I have (soy, lectins, corn, gluten). Now I still eat lots of plants and definitely no dairy (love vegan nut cheeses!), but have the occasional organic fish, chicken and eggs. And I feel great in my body ❤
Really enjoyed this. I have been journeying back to vegetarianism after having some devastating digestive issues (gut infection, that eliminated so many food groups including all beans). Thankfully that's been sorted!! Love the idea of congee Can't wait to make this tonight. Sounds Satiating, simple and easy on my tummy.
I would’ve liked to stick to being vegan but it made me very unwell. I have iron deficiency already and celiac disease, being vegan made me seriously anaemic and worsened gut issues. A lot of vegan foods, beans, lentils, pulses, veggies are hard to digest and I can’t tolerate iron pills. It’s best for me to eat meat but I’m glad I tried being vegan, apart from the negative health effects I found it quite easy to give up foods. The hardest part was the social aspect and feeling very aware of harm to animals that is happening and people not caring was mentally draining.
@@zuzazwolinska6995 that’s great but for me I have a long term iron deficiency even before I became celiac and as soon as I ate vegan it became severe anemia. It’s not possible for me until I can cure whatever is causing the iron deficiency I guess. I eat very balanced and take multivitamin and iron pills but it doesn’t help. The only thing I can do is try to eat the best iron possible which is meat. I’m not going to suffer even more everyday and make myself more ill just to be vegan. I can’t even have eggs instead of meat cause I have egg intolerance also😂
I had the same experience with a severe iron deficiency. I still try to eat as plant based as possible but I think that different things work for different bodies.
@@Aliciae411 you have to do what works best for your body. I also became very ill on a plant only diet. Took me two years to recover. Then I learned that 7.3 billion animals are killed every year in US plant agriculture alone. Squirrels, gophers, mice, snails, rabbits, deer, crickets, lady bugs, frogs,..and realized that all food has a biological consequence. So I am going to choose the foods that support my personal health and do my best to support regenerative agricultural practices for plants and animals. 💜
Do you know that 70% of world agriculture is for animal feeding? So actually squirrels and rabbits are not an argument against being vegan :) they most likely died to feed other animals
Vegan almost 6 years now, thanks for the video! I also have increased energy levels. One thing I didn’t expect is to sleep better. I get some of the best sleep ever now. Also I agree, I could never date a nonvegan, or they’d have to be at least willing to go vegan if we are in a serious relationship. I realize that limits my dating pool but it’s okay lol
The point about dating a non-vegan is so true! I turned vegan midway through my 6 year relationship and to this day it is the thing we argue about the most. Him being a dedicated meat eater and me cooking only vegan, I find myself hoping every day that he would stop eating meat - or at least in our home. But I know that it’s not fair to him either to push my food choices onto him. Should we ever break up I’m 100% going for a fellow plant eater😅.
Well being a carnist is more than just a personal preference because living sentient beings have to be murdered against their will for it. Going vegan isn't that difficult these days. If your partner can't even change his diet for you then I wouldn't put all your faith in that relationship.
I went vegan 5 years into our relationship... He went vegan 2 weeks later. Not even because of me. He had a coworker who kept bugging him about it. I did too lol but had always been interested in being a vegetarian (told I would be emaciated by family if I did, so I didn't). Now here we are 6 years later lol and his parents are trying to do keto and I'm like plz nooooooo. Oh well. I hope you guys find some meals that can be prepared vegan and "just add meat" at the end... =/
Take your life into your hands, insted of waiting for him to make the decision ;) maybe ask for a pause, and see if he is willing to change for you. However, I believe that certain diets are not for everyone, our bodies are different.
About to turn 3 years vegan! Over the years I learned I had to prepare for a lotttt of people criticizing my lifestyle while we eat in a group, and how to prepare.
I just discovered you and loved this video. I have been vegan for about 11 years and have never heard of congee! I cannot wait to make it this weekend! Thank you for sharing your experiences and congrats on your success of being vegan. I love "planthead", your comment about "protein deficiency" and your necklace 😊
I love your videos! Thanks for the hard work creating! I've been vegan for 2.5 years and the main downside is travel. When I get somewhere it's usually on, but flights are hard so I pack my own food. I am a healthy vegan, so I'm not interested in a fake burger or fried junk, so dining out can be hard but I can make it work. I'll NEVER go back!
I've been vegan for almost 11 years now and it was one of the best decisions of my life :) healed my health problem (I suffered from for 23 years by then) with it, but above everything, I am an ethical vegan. Congratulation for your 15.5 year anniversary! :)
I have eaten whole food, plant based for 11 or 12 years. I was surprised at how clean my insides feel compared to before. Not sure how to describe it other than clean. I’ll be 72 next month. Never too late.
I love this video. I was vegan for three years but my diet was altered by food restrictions due to an autoimmune disease. I still believe in my heart that it is the healthiest way to be and still eat plant-based a lot but am not exclusively so. It's complicated and I won't bore you with it, but just know that your message is warmly received. And I want to thank you for the light-bulb moment I had when you talked about simplifying your diet so that your meal planning / buying / prep is a no-brainer. Yesterday it took me forever to plan out the next couple days of meals, and it all felt so absurd. Thanks to you, I am putting together a list of our favorite healthy easy meals we can eat on repeat so that I can stop this madness! I am super excited to order your book. I remember a while back when you shared a small writing sample for us to read, and it really stayed with me. It's not easy to be memorable in such a heavily saturated book market. You clearly have a gift, and I can't wait to read more of your work!
Jenny, I'd love your Congee recipe if you have it written down! I didn't see it in the description, but the way you make it looks absolutely delicious.
I was vegan when I started watching Jenny, and through 5 years of feeding a 3 person household, 2 of which were picky and non-vegan, I became tired of cooking 2 meals. Now I've ve been omnivorous for 2 years. However, I enjoy eating 1-2 plant based meals a day. I like knowing where my animal products come from that I do eat, so I buy free range/grass fed/wild caught whenever possible. It's important to know where our food comes from and support those in agriculture who are producing ethically. I believe everyone needs more plants in their diet, from a health and ethical standpoint.
Jenny, you are one of the UA-cam godmothers who showed me how to be vegan over four years ago when I decided that was how I wanted to live. Your potato salad with strawberries recipe is still a favorite, though I'll admit I usually leave out the eggplant. 😊
I've been a vegetarian since I was 14 and I remember the sorts of questions I used to get but now I know TONS of vegans and vegetarians and it's just so nice not to be alone anymore! I'm also a foster parent and our kid is lactose-intolerant - no problem when you already buy plant-based milks ;). It IS a bit odd raising a child who eats meat while I don't but I've never even been remotely tempted to eat anything he's having. I also agree with the decision fatigue, it's just so much easier to make decisions when you have a rule that lines up with your ethics.
I am positive surprised! I have been watching your videos for such a long time, but was not aware that you are vegan. It would be great, if you could create more videos about veganism. I have been vegan for exactly 8 years now and there is no way I could eat animals again. I totally agree with what you experienced, but on negative experiences I am still struggling sometimes when travelling with non-vegans and asking their patience when trying to find a restaurant with vegan options.
it might seem easy to find another vegan but trust me there is no other David and it would be impossible to even find anyone close to him......these days a person with integrity that you also get along with who is not a drug addict or just a jerk is pretty rare like extremely rare so def keep David. lol
💚The point you made about feeling like it makes you a sweeter person is true, when shifting into a Vegan diet/lifestyle I feel my anger and stress levels go down and my patience go up- to put it logically, but it's on such a deeper level.
Been Vegan for 4 years now and loving every minute of it! also started volunteering at the Animal Sanctuary everyday I'm more amazed by how intelligent and loving and kind animals are I'm in Law but the best job I probably ever held was working at the Animal Sanctuary it really keeps me grounded and loved!
do you remember where were this beautiful bowl is from 9:23 and the spoon? And what spices do you use for the dish? a veggie broth? to soak the rice and lentils ?
Im at year 9.5! 10 in October. It truly is exactly like you mentioned. Please do more vegan videos. I love that you stick to whole foods and i'd love recipes. I don't know if you removed your older videos but i vaguely remember seeing your vegan food videos from years ago.
vegan for the last 5-6 years or so.. and vegetarian 10+ years before that ! I have actually never had congee, but i thought about making it a while back and never got to it, now i definitely need to try this !
this video was such a pleasant surprise. i think in this time, it gets so hard being a vegan when so many youtubers and outside influences insist that it’s not possible or sustainable. i keep reminding myself that it is, and it is not a sacrifice especially considering the lives it is saving! 💗💗 you’re right in saying that it relieves you from being cynical. it also eases my heart when i remember what humans are capable of this kindness
I find this very interesting, I use YT a lot for my recipes and the algorithm always suggests plant based creators, so much so that I have the exact opposite feeling i.e., that everyone is going plant-based right now and this is amazing! :)
2013 freelee style raw till4 etc to start and Im trying to keep on the path. Menopause and depression got me on the vegan comfort food and overeating. 10 years after I healthed up.. now overweight after family deaths and a shoulder injury. Im a good cook and I know the facts, just addicted to eating good tasting food. working on it again after 10 years of doing great. starting over. thanks for sharing. and keeping on the good path. Love from Michigan usa.
i'm into year 3. I've always loved all the vegan foods like tofu, tempeh, beans, veggies, fruit, etc. so the switch was really easy for me. I feel "nicer" too LOL
This was such a cool video! I am from aotearoa new zealand & have been vegan for 9 years now.. I didn't even get to meet another vegan for YEARS because it was so uncommon here! Now I get to work in a vegan cafe where we are using all the profits to one day start an animal sanctuary. My partner has also gone vegan now & is head chef at the cafe! Isn't it amazing how things change 🥰
I have thought about being vegan often, as I eat loads of vegan options. The only reason why I haven't fully, is because the rest of my family I cook for are not vegan and it is sometimes tough to make meals for us all when they like meat (I do give them tofu and impossible meat/beyond meat once in a while and they are fine with it), but the main issue, is that one of my sons is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, and a lot of recipes include those (or have cheese made from cashews and such). I am mainly vegetarian with some pescatarian options regardless. I see a nutritionist because I am anemic and have high cholesterol from genetics (but live a very healthy lifestyle and really based off of that shouldn't have it high at all, but I do). My nutritionist has seen how adding fish has helped me a lot more than just the veggies and iron pills, etc. I have learned to balance it. I was vegetarian for two years and it actually caused me some health issues which is why I had to change it up a little. Anyway, I have never made congee and you have inspired me to try! I have not had beef in 8 years and not had pork in 16. Chicken, That one I have had here and there as well but only because I am pregnant and was told to add it. I will be off it again and was off of it for about 6 years.
I love thud Jenny , I have been vegan, occasionally vegetarian for over 10 years now and I can totally agree with you. I feel so good, never been healthier, even more sensitive to animals and nature than before. I feel in Peace with myself, connected to nature, it’s been the best decision ever. So Many people go away from Vegan so it’s so nice to see your video and hears you thoughts and experiences ❤️
I just celebrated my 6th veganniversary this past Earth Day! Best thing I’ve ever did. Wish that I’ve gone vegan sooner. You were one of the first vegans I used to keep up with :) thank you for continuing to have compassion! ❤
I have been vegan for nearly 12 years now. I completely agree with the chock I sometimes get when I go through a store and see dead animals, and people actually picking them up to buy them! It's sometimes easy to forget when you live with another vegan, and think it's so obvious not to harm animals. One surprising thing for me was that I hated food all my childhood, but after becoming vegan that changed slowly. Suddenly food actually meant something. Now I love food more than anything! I want to try that congee, it looks delicious!
Congratulations, again, on the upcoming release of your new book. Will OKAY DAYS be released in the US soon. All the best to you, Jenny and David, and to those you love.
Our family of four has eaten a whole food plant based diet for fourteen years. I have just started sharing videos on my UA-cam channel about how we keep this lifestyle sustainable. It really is possible if you keep things simple. Enjoyed your video-thanks for sharing!
I do admire your dedication to a healthier lifestyle. My daughter has been a pescatarian for years and my son has joined her in his eating habits too. I have a lot of food sensitivities such as eggs, wheat, lactose and sesames and also tree nut and peanut allergies. Eating out with my daughter at a vegan restaurant required a complete clean before they could make my pizza☹️. I can’t see a way to living a vegan lifestyle with such an emphasis on nuts. Love your content. And I enjoyed your first book😊
thank you jenny! ive been veggie for about 5 years now, im still trying to get over my omelette addiction and then i am ready to start a new chapter in the vegan world~ but this definitely inspired me😍
Thanks for this video. I will look into your book. I have been a vegan for 12 years. I lost 50 lbs and my arthritis stopped bothering me. My son is a vegan and his ulcerative colitis disappeared. I found it so interesting what you said about partnering with only a vegan but I'm an older vegan and finding someone my age who is a vegan is so hard.
Would enjoy more vegan vids. Am WFPB oil free for 10 years now...wish it had been for much longer tho. Am 75 yo and never felt better, Can still run and move like had never aged at all. It's the food!!!
Thanks for the congee recommendation. Cooking the lentils together with the rice sounds great. I'll come back to this video before I try it out. Hey, I cannot imagine dating a non-vegetarian either. Thanks for bringing that up.
Love love love this video! I've been following you for quite some time now but I didn't realise you were vegan! Love it! Love the aesthetics of this video too and you and David of course. 5 years vegan. 4 week raw vegan sos. loving it.
how long have you been vegan?
or are you a vegetarian, or an omnivore?
let me know.
it´s been 7 years of a plantbased life style for me🥬 and you were one of the first vegan youtubers I started following in those early days, you guys were living in Berlin -I remember-
11 år som vegan i år, 28 år som vegetarian före det. Vill gärna se en receptvideo med congee 😊
Can you please make quick videos on vegan recipes (that r filling)? I always get so hungry when I'm on plant based diet. Some said me just to stuff myself with carbs, coz there is no other option!
💚7 years vegan 💚
Rather interesting to see other more veteran vegans in the comment section!
Congratulations for being vegan for 15,5 years! It's so nice, seeing a youtuber that stayed vegan and is actually concerned about animal rights. I am vegan since 11 years too. 😘
Me too , over 10 years now and so happy with it. I connected even more in a natural way with nature and animals, it’s a beautiful experience 💚💚

So traurig! Ich lebe in Lübeck und hier ist es ganz anders :( überall veganes Gebäck, Hafermilch und Alternativen 🌿🥹🫶🏼
If you live in Berlin it'd be very easy for you because they're so many vegan restaurants or dishes on menu here.
@Cat Riot If I lived in Berlin id be lucky to have some money left after paying for the ridiculous rent and gas prices
@@sophialeejhonson Well, it depends on where do you compare the rent, just trying to share infos no need to be sarcastic
Your such an inspiration!❤ I love to see people who never stop mentally growing and try new ways or chance their mind if it no longer fits to them😍
I became vegan six years ago at 60 years old. I have never felt better!
So lovely to read this! Made my day 😊
Ironically it’s calcium and iron and other random things people tend not to think of that tend to be low. What are you a body builder or elite athlete trying to lose fat and build muscle at the same time aiming to get 2 gram of protein per kilogram of body mass? Easier as a vegetarian.
Vegan 9 years, vegetarian 2 years prior. All of us together have made a huge difference in the world. ❤
Ommmfg exacly just like me, in 2015 in high school 🥲🥲
whoa I’m a freshman right now who just went vegan. (15) though
@@flowerpot3787 congratulation, you have much easier this days! so enjoy 💜
I would support that totally - I loved Jennies recipes so so much 🙏🏻🥰❤
Yes please! I bought your recipe book in Swedish, I loved the food so much.
Yes please for reposting AND new ones 🙌👏🏻💐🌱💚✅🇬🇧
Can you list what veggies, fruits and legumes you stay away from to be symptom free? Or share how you found what foods to avoid?
@@unsoundmedia I followed the Low Fodmap protocol. The list is long and it varies from person to person according to the personal sensitivity. There are also foods that are good when conserved, but not fresh (like legumes and also here I tollerate them, but they are not recommend in the quantity I eat them).
You should read FIBER FUELED!
IBS here too, and I've had a really hard time getting from vegetarian to vegan. I've done low FODMAP resets a few times, but I'm still working at it with the help of a dietician. Anyway, this comment is helping me be optimistic, so thanks!
@@l6318 sadly we are all different. I hope you'll find your way through 😊
I was pescaterian since the age of 11 and gradually became vegetarian.
I have so little in common with most people it's hard sometimes to not get down about it but i do my best to feel patience And compassion.

i would really love to see her version of congee
Hello from Brazil!
I have been vegan for almost 4 years. I feel the same as you, I've never missed meat or cheese, I feel more connected with my body and have more energy. I'm not as aggressive as I used to be, PMS is over and I feel like I am a less cynical person.
I was vegetarian for 5 years and vegan now for the last 10. Going plant based had a positive impact on my health.
It's been about 15+ years for me as well and still consider it the best thing I've ever done. Thanks for a great video :)
I first started following you when you were primarily a food blog, and I so miss your recipes! I still use some of those recipes like apple turmeric porridge and no-bake choco banana slices. You are so talented with recipe development, I would buy your cookbook any day!
oh!!! this is the sweetest, thank you for sticking around all these years! ❤️❤️❤️
Mostly wfpb too 🌱✌🏻
💚💚💚
positive surprises for me:
i almost never get sick in the winter anymore.
i almost never feel tired after a big meal.
my family supports cooking vegan although they don't want to make the switch themselves.
negative surprises:
meat eaters and vegetarians often want to talk about or educate me on veganism or "fake meat" (in an annoying way) or feel attacked when i just want to eat.
eating out when traveling can be a challenge.
Would love some recipe/food vids from you Jenny! Been vegetarian now for 6-7years and could use some inspo and tips to make healthy, budget friendly food ❤ thank you again
love it! "15 years in and still waiting for the protein deficiency!" you said it girl!
It just makes sense to me to eat and live this way, and I loved hearing you describe that aspect of veganism ❤ Sending love to all my fellow vegan lover-girls/people out there 🥰✨
@@NikkiVegan :)
Love it! I agree totally ! 7 years vegan, the best I have ever done for me, my health, the animal welfare and the Earth !🌱💚
A video of your vegan recipes would be great 😊
Enjoyed your video!
Im a year a half vegan. Agree with all your reasons. I feel like my food options are soooo much better when I cook. So colorful now!
I absolutely love this video. I'm wondering if, in the future a vegan cookbook would be coming? I know you had one published before but not in English. ❤
Going on 13 years vegan and I loved hearing your celebration of being plant-based!!! Yayyy! So much to celebrate. 🎉
The difference between that and vegan is still huge.)
I like that you talked about that, it's one of the biggest reasons I think I'm going to go back to it.
In my case, after going vegan I started to become REALLY interested in wildlife and animal welfare so that I decided to sort of start a whole new path in life.
Such a nice summary ❤ Vegan for 10 years, also sometimes shocked to see what others eat!
I'm actually celiac and vegan going on 3 years so it's possible just a bit hard sometimes but with enough research and will you can do it as well ❤
@@zuzazwolinska6995 that’s great but for me I have a long term iron deficiency even before I became celiac and as soon as I ate vegan it became severe anemia.
Thank you
you're right it wouldn't be fair. you're one of the few reasonable ones
Nice video, congratulations on 15 years and counting! I have just hit 7 years, my son and husband too, feeling great 😊
I love this video.
20 years vegetarian, and then transitioned to vegan, so, 8 years vegan now. I feel great and love this way of life. Thank you for this beautiful video
Would you give us your congee recipe? (Cook time, etc.) :)
Can you make a full recipe video of congee? (with spices and sauces you use)?
carnivore here - couldn't imagine life without meat but happy it works for you
Such a great video!! So much of what has been said in this video aligns with my experience of being a vegan!! Congrats on those 15 and a half years!!
I’ve been vegan for 10+ years and love it. This was fun to watch-all the way through I kept saying yes, yes, yes
I am positive surprised! I have been watching your videos for such a long time, but was not aware that you are vegan. It would be great, if you could create more videos about veganism. I have been vegan for exactly 8 years now and there is no way I could eat animals again. I totally agree with what you experienced, but on negative experiences I am still struggling sometimes when travelling with non-vegans and asking their patience when trying to find a restaurant with vegan options.
it might seem easy to find another vegan but trust me there is no other David and it would be impossible to even find anyone close to him......these days a person with integrity that you also get along with who is not a drug addict or just a jerk is pretty rare like extremely rare so def keep David. lol
51/2 yrs vegan and best decision I’ve ever made🥰
💚The point you made about feeling like it makes you a sweeter person is true, when shifting into a Vegan diet/lifestyle I feel my anger and stress levels go down and my patience go up- to put it logically, but it's on such a deeper level.
great to hear your story Jenny ❤
Plant Based News 🤟
Vegan for 7 years! And couldn't be happier
Hello. I’m interested in the dish you made. Brown rice, lentils and ? Thank you. 💖
Vegan curious and intolerant to dairy… I’m thinking of going all in bc I rarely eat meat anyway. Thanks as always for the fantastic insights ❤
vegan for the last 5-6 years or so.. and vegetarian 10+ years before that !
So
Many people go away from Vegan so it’s so nice to see your video and hears you thoughts and experiences ❤️
I just celebrated my 6th veganniversary this past Earth Day! Best thing I’ve ever did. Wish that I’ve gone vegan sooner. You were one of the first vegans I used to keep up with :) thank you for continuing to have compassion! ❤
Congrats!
Your next book to write: Cookbook please with all your daily dishes : )
I do admire your dedication to a healthier lifestyle. My daughter has been a pescatarian for years and my son has joined her in his eating habits too. I have a lot of food sensitivities such as eggs, wheat, lactose and sesames and also tree nut and peanut allergies. Eating out with my daughter at a vegan restaurant required a complete clean before they could make my pizza☹️. I can’t see a way to living a vegan lifestyle with such an emphasis on nuts. Love your content. And I enjoyed your first book😊
Hi does anyone know where the recipe for the congee is? Thanks 😊
thank you jenny! ive been veggie for about 5 years now, im still trying to get over my omelette addiction and then i am ready to start a new chapter in the vegan world~ but this definitely inspired me😍
Thanks for this video.
Congrats for the 15+ anniversary !
Love love love this video! I've been following you for quite some time now but I didn't realise you were vegan! Love it! Love the aesthetics of this video too and you and David of course. 5 years vegan. 4 week raw vegan sos. loving it.
I have always like your food blogs and videos. Thank you!
been vegan for 5 years now. best decision ever!
