The most beautiful thing that I remember, were the fountains with fireworks. This was a huge display with the fountains timed to music. I went 16 times by cutting school as a 14/15 year old. I'm 70 now, and can't believe how much time has gone by...
I flew over this thing and googled it. Unbelievable to a 37 year old what all took place here. I’ve become fascinated watching all kinds of videos. I’d love to hear your stories. My email is natenevala@mac.com
Thank you for sharing this. I was there in 64/65. Although we can't go back in time to relive these good old days this is the next best thing. Thanks for the memories.
We visited the Fair on July 20, 1965. You can only see so much in one day, and we managed to take in the Swiss Sky Ride, Dinoland and the US Royal Tire Ferris Wheel. We also saw the replica of the Santa Maria and the porpoise show at the Florida Pavilion. Not to mention the musicians and dancers at the Mexican Pavilion. Being Lithuanian, we also paused at the Lithuanian Wayside Cross.
I like how your family was standing on Staten Island on the floor map of NY state. I’m guessing that’s where you’re from. So am I. Nice family memories. Thanks for sharing
Thank you very much for sharing!!! I'm from the far west and wasn't there but have visited Corona park MANY times to see the fairgrounds as the two fair have always fascinated me.. Your footage is GREAT! Using my personal experiences of Corona park I can now place myself at these locations thanks to you sharing your family's 8mm memories. Thank you!
Hello, great video! Do you have any more information about who filmed these? I'd like to include reference to them in research I am conducting on the 1964 World's Fair.
Hello, sorry for the delay. Yes, my father filmed this footage. Please send me an email at social@matarazzodesign.com if you'd like to discuss this further.
@@matarazzofamily Hi, and thank you so very much for the wonderful nostalgia trip! I was 13, on vacation from Maryland with my family when we saw the NYWF in summer 1964. We took lots of movies, and a lotta still shots, but they're all lost somewhere in time, unfortunately. That's why I love finding old home movies featuring events we attended. We saw pretty much everything you showed. We were back on the road before nightfall, so didn't get a chance to see it all lit up. Thank you so much for sharing your day with me. I looked carefully, hoping to spot my family in the crowd, but I didn't see us. The sights and knowledge we experienced at the Fair were fun and interesting to see, but what I remember most about that day was how it felt. How it smelled. Everyone looking excited and curious. No fighting. No fussing about somebody being different, no matter what that difference might be. Young. Old. This state. That state. This country. That country. These clothes. Those clothes. Whether we understood each other's language or not. We understood each other. We felt it. You couldn't help but feel a connection. Peace through understanding. Yep. I think we achieved it that day. In that wonderful place. All of us. Together. Happy to be there. Just happy to be.
I so loved The World’s Fair & seeing this movie! Best memories!!!

Those dinosaurs at 7:49 are now displayed at Dinosaur Valley State Park, Glen Rose, Texas
I wonder why the firefighting porpoise technique never caught on.
