Found 8mm Home Movies: Film #1 "Beach" - Howard Keats Bayside, NY - 1962

This film was found at a flea market decades ago. The name of the box is "Howard Keats" and the address is Bayside, New York. This particular reel did not have a box, but that is my best guess, as the others in the container have the same name. The others also have a mailing date of 1962 on them. (Ignore the title saying 1952 in the film, that's a typo) The Kodak Reels digitizer really chewed u...

Toy Story at the El Capitan Theatre with Totally Toy Story Funhouse - 1995 Los Angeles, CA
Переглядів 41 тис.8 років тому
Here is a home video my father took during the Toy Story showing at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, California. This video was taken in December 1995. Before the film I think there was a bit of a stage show, but I may be confusing that with another event. The funhouse (Totally Toy Story) was amazing. I remember playing the Toy Story video game for the Sega Genesis, drawing on art easels,...

We visited the Fair on July 20, 1965. You can only see so much in one day, and we managed to take in the Swiss Sky Ride, Dinoland and the US Royal Tire Ferris Wheel. We also saw the replica of the Santa Maria and the porpoise show at the Florida Pavilion. Not to mention the musicians and dancers at the Mexican Pavilion. Being Lithuanian, we also paused at the Lithuanian Wayside Cross.

Also, the preview of Disney's Animated Storybook of "Toy Story 1" was shown in the premiere, because this Animated Storybook released in 1996.

"Toy Story" was the first film I ever saw in Theatres! I was four years-old (born in 1991) and my sister had won a contest to see an early screening of the film ( I'm not sure how long before it's North America release the early screening was) with my Mom, her friend and myself. I have no memories however, of seeing this film in theatres. I only know that for years I was terrified of Babyface (the leader of the Mutant Toys) and when my Mom recorded "Toy Story" off of "The Wonderful World of Disney" in the fall of 1997, she had to pause the recording when scenes of the Mutants played. Over 25 years after seeing it in Theatres I am adding this film to my movie collection!

@@matarazzofamily Hi, and thank you so very much for the wonderful nostalgia trip! I was 13, on vacation from Maryland with my family when we saw the NYWF in summer 1964. We took lots of movies, and a lotta still shots, but they're all lost somewhere in time, unfortunately. That's why I love finding old home movies featuring events we attended. We saw pretty much everything you showed. We were back on the road before nightfall, so didn't get a chance to see it all lit up. Thank you so much for sharing your day with me. I looked carefully, hoping to spot my family in the crowd, but I didn't see us. The sights and knowledge we experienced at the Fair were fun and interesting to see, but what I remember most about that day was how it felt. How it smelled. Everyone looking excited and curious. No fighting. No fussing about somebody being different, no matter what that difference might be. Young. Old. This state. That state. This country. That country. These clothes. Those clothes. Whether we understood each other's language or not. We understood each other. We felt it. You couldn't help but feel a connection. Peace through understanding. Yep. I think we achieved it that day. In that wonderful place. All of us. Together. Happy to be there. Just happy to be.

@@untitledjunk03 Yes, the CGI Disney castle opening logo was created by Pixar and it premiered with this film, their first feature film. I remember seeing it at this showing. I've also seen it at another showing of the film. The logo was also retained on subsequent VHS, Laserdisc, and DVD releases, I even think it's on the Blu-ray.

matarazzofamily, thanks. I remember seeing it on VHS and the 2005 10th Anniversary DVD the most. I saw the 3D version in 2009, only to be pissed that they plastered it with the current logo. But, if there’s one thing I’m dying to see the most, is *a recording of that logo from that screening.* Because I’m wondering how audiences in 1995 reacted to the exclusive CGI logo.

@@untitledjunk03 Yes if you saw Toy Story in the 90s or the early 2000s like I did, the original Walt Disney Pictures logo with the CGI white castle that fades into Andy's cloud wallpaper is shown at the beginning of the movie like it did in the original version when it was released. Anything that was made after 2009 has that logo edited out with the current Disney logo and the Pixar one added to it, which was not in the original version.
