    I wasn’t able to drill out the rivets. Used an air cut-off disk tool. cut grooves into the rivets then scored the head off. Really appreciated your help in this project

    Thank you sir for your video! My regulator just went bad on my passenger side window, on my 97 town car. And your video is the 1st one I found. Now I know what to do.

    The problem with your video is you don't show 50% of how the old regulator came out and went in. You don't show what the initial reason for the failure was in the first place. Yes the part that failed. I have the same problem with my 1993. The motor works, but the windows wont go up or down. What is the part that failed and why?

      @redrobgmail  5 років тому +5

      Once the glass was removed, I just pushed the old regulator bolts out of the holes and pulled the whole thing out of the door. The reason for failure was one the cable ends pulled out of the plastic it was mounted in which let the tension off the cables and stopped the window from moving.
      Thanks for watching

      if your motor works but the window does not go up and down, there is a repair kit gear and 3 balls. take the motor apart and get all the old crushed plastic balls out of the gear with a pick and running the motor some. replace the gear and 3 balls and you are back in business. be careful not to let the regulator wires slip out of their box or you are screwed and have to replace the regulator. No hinges available for 97 or older but there is a repair kit that works awesome. each hinge comes with ss bolt lock nut and 4 bushings. The old hinge bolt will be eaten up 1/3 and the hole will be wallered out. the kit is 20 bucks avail on amazon comes with 2 bolts , 2 nuts and 8 bushings.

    Seeing all that work was fine up until you were drilling holes in things...thats over my head and i don't want to damage it.

    • @redrobgmail

      The drilling was to take the heads off the rivets holding the regulator to the door. This is the easiest way to remove them.

    How did you put the window back on the rail is what I didn't see....

    • @redrobgmail
      @redrobgmail  3 роки тому +2

      The rail is made into the regulator which was replaced and bolted to the bottom of the glass when the window is rolled up tight and torqued. The edges of the glass are in the channels in the door.

    Nice to watch you working, again! Seems like you had a spot of bad health. Can't recall exactly what it was... =Did your goober fall off or maybe your wife whacked it off so she could get a decent night's sleep? (^; Anyhow, glad you're pulling wrenches again! Keep the soot blown out and the oil changed...

    Lincoln rivets parts together like the door frame. Terrible. I'm stuck with a nonworking back door because they used rivets and they are hard to replace. Never buy a lincoln!

    • @rodneyjolly979
      @rodneyjolly979 3 роки тому

      U have to drill the rivets out.... Go back with regular screws same size or close to

    • @johnsteed265
      @johnsteed265 2 роки тому +1

      Never buy a Lincoln because they use rivets? That's the most idiotic reason I heard not to buy a Lincoln. It is a relatively easy repair that most people can accomplish. If it is too tough for you, find a mechanic to do it for you.
