Agree. Even 40 years ago working as a checker at a small LOCAL grocery store, all of the checkers were ALWAYS timed and kept informed what their speed was... They kept a chart up, visible to all employees, and rewarded the top 3 checkers every month. I saw this as a fun challenge and loved being either #1 or #2 almost every month. 😊
I get so sick of idiots saying that things like holiday pay and lunch breaks are perks of the job. No, slave, that isn't a perk, that's a legal entitlement.
I've been an Aldi customer for over 7 years, and I've been working as an Aldi part time stocker for a few months so far. I didn't come into this job nieve or oblivious. As far as My experience goes, I can't say enough good things about my managers at the particular store I work in, they stay focused and sharp, they keep great attitudes even in potentially stressful situations, I accepted the challenge of working a physically demanding job and have lost almost 30 lbs along the way (starting some time shortly before i began working and throughout the past 2 months) and feel great because i manage self care after each shift, stretching, meditating and making diet changes. I'm Genuinely saying that I'm happy working here. With the pay, the people, and the experience. Ofcourse things don't always go Perfectly smooth everyday in busy working environments with several people occupying within on a day to day basis! but I stay focused and do my best and it's working out just fine for me! They see that I'm putting forth the effort and they acknowledge it and work with me as I develop/learn and, as wild as it may sound to some people, in-turn it makes me WANT to continue putting forth the effort! GOOD MANAGEMENT 101! Believe me there are Many other jobs that don't pay as much and are waaay more chaotic and physically taxing than what I'm doing!!

I just came from a weird group interview at my local Aldi, sounded like the worst job I've ever heard in a retail store, everyone does everything, doesn't even make any sense except for saving THEM money, which is all that ever really matters to them. Wouldn't work there for less than 20 an hour, 13 is a joke.
13??!! what aldi's did u apply to. I was thinking of applying and part time from my nearest aldi's is 16 an hour and some are 23 an hour which im pretty sure that one is a higher position.
Walgreens also has employees be multi functional, but the pay is so much worse. Base pay is $17 as a shift lead in queens NY. I move to a suburb in VA and an entry level position at aldi is paying $19.50. It really comes down to your perspective, your work ethic, and of course the management at the specific location.

They treat you like you are stupid and if you don't retain everything right then there they dont like you. They claim Aldis cares for their employees but they don't! You are not just a cashier. You stock, in between customers and unload huge bails. It's A LOT of work. You won't understand unless you work there. Horrible company.

It seems like a very cut throat environment to work in. 😢

One after the other, then go jump on the register and mindlessly scan for hours because it’s only 3 employees in the entire store. Oh and you’re timed by the second! By the time your shift has ended you are sore/bruised/ exhausted. Working at Aldi was like hell on earth.

This is all very true. Been with rhe company over 5 years, hurt my back.....and was quickly told i cant do light duty there and was forced to use vacation time.
Join the club. I'm a produce manager for another corporate monster with no assistant. I hear that it used to be better before it became publicly traded but now, their "people first" policy just means they squeeze everything possibly out of people that are foolish enough to work for them.
I noticed that once they installed self-service tills all the women were gone. No women and no older women. I also used my own bag and was subject to a bag search. I’ve opened several bags of onions or fruit and they were rotten so it’s not cheap and not worth it.
Years of retail experience….every corporate retail is the same, but different. U can’t say “all” or “never” bc everyone has a different experience. Everything can change. Depends on ur staff, management, store, location, n ur own willingness to put in effort. To each their own basically. They do pay , whereas a company like CVS pays u SHEEET. So at least ur check is decent
Have to say this whole hate video is laughable. the complaints sound ridiculous, Im pretty sure most people get injuries and pains from working. You don't deserve more pay for doing multiple jobs. Of course you deserve to be well paid. Doing multiple jobs is better than the same job all time. the red bull comment kinda highlights the stupidity behind this video.
They discriminate I went on a job interview for them. I had all the skills and qualifications and they chose to go with the younger group. I feel like that is not right. Everybody should be able to get a chance. I will never shop at Aldi’s again cause the way they treated me.
Im coming from being a general manager of a busy chipotle. Im in the process of potentially starting to train for a store manager . Is it worth it ? Different from what i have done in a way, but better in pay in salary, by a good amount

I actually talked to management and said y'all need do better and treat you're employees with more respect but they act like they didn't care.

oh no i might sit in the AC and scan bar codes or they may tell me to sweep the floor in the AC! and i only have to pass kindergarten? i work 70 hrs a week and what i do ranges from framing, drywall, roofing, concrete, tile, landscape, mowing, cutting trees, rebuilding engines and transmissions, office work, passing out flyers, welding, spraying chemicals, electrical, plumbing, carpentry websites, graphic design, hiring, fixing computers, and lot more. but i guess thats why i make $15k a year
Yes, i agree getting paid the same to scan barcodes and sweep the floor is wrong. they should get paid less to sit and scan bar codes than they do to sweep. so cut their pay. like store gonna hire someone to come in 1 hr a day to sweep and like anyone would take that job. employees think they should be robots and do the same thing all day long. well go work on an assembly line then. bolt the same 2 pieces together all day every day for next 20 years.
A BAD ATTITUDE SHOWS UP EVERY WHERE AT ALDI. THEY HAVE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER, SO I HAVE TO RING THE LOCAL COUNCIL TO COLLECT THEIR $ 1000 TROLLIES AND FINE THEM $400 FROM THE LOCAL GOVT, TO GET THEM BACK.
I guess it is a cultural thing.... Small talk is not a big thing in Germany. As customer you usually only talk to the staff when you need something (or know them ofc), otherwise it is basicially just "hello", "cash" or "card" and "bye" with the cashier. The staff trying to make small talk are often perceived as annoying. If the customer wants to do small talk he/she will let you know.... Criticism isn´t judgemental by itself. Compliments are though - but also not really much of a german thing. "The food is ok" is basicially counted as compliment, "it is great " could for example perceived as over-the-top and possibly fake. This is simliar to all stores in Germany. Aldi isn´t really that different- at least from the outside
not always ... I always give a little small talk when we are not extremely busy, but you shop there for prices, so deal with how we get you those prices ... by being efficient ... or shop st Wal-Mart and love life in one of those hour long checkouts LMAO
Well, I can’t stand customers who small talk with the cashier as I wait in line behind them. If you’re lonely and need someone to talk to, find another person, like another customer. Don’t waste the time of all those people behind you.
There is a Aldi. We're I go I fine the staff in there are very rude a talking away on their headset you can see they're looking of people and more likely talking about them I asked the staff one day something and should just see to be snobby you're going to a shop you expect to find some of the stuff being nice I think mortalism have got an attitude problem being on them headset
I have worked for ALDI for a year now and i am 43 and about to take my store over in another month I think $85,000 is decent ... I notice that people half my age are lazy slow pathetic and full of excuses... everything in this video is no secret in fact ALDI tells you all that and more, I ask people at interviews if they are "athletic" just to see the reaction... my best employees are athletes and it is a $17 an hour to start job ... bottom level ... HYVEE one of our competitors starts at $12.50 go work there if you can't hang we pay people for work not hanging out. PS the benefits are awesome and the breaks are PAID so maybe give it a go before you write off ALDI... It's my favorite company I have ever worked for...
I also worked at aldi one year. Worst company ever. Extremely bad management. Complete socialism based on company. Company does not believe in performance raise so, so if you are a hard worker you are promised to be a slave to not only upper management but to your lazy co worekers who are not doing correct work. Management failing hard. Company polices are joke. Absolutely definately one of the worst.
I don't get what all the whining is about. Sounds like you don't have to get bored doing the same things over and over again, because variety is built into the schedule. Physical activity including some lifting is included as part of the job--you don't have to go to the gym. You don't see a lot of overweight workers at Aldi. On top of that, you develop several skills that will make you more valuable than you were when you came in as an unskilled worker, and you can interview at another store with confidence. Pay is better than average, and they expect you to work hard (gasp!) for that. I'm sure you are told the requirements before you accept the job.
Aldi's, I used to spend big money with you, but since you now pay advertisers to increase the volume on the TV ads so loud, they can be heard down the street, I had headphones on and could hear them???? I can afford to shop elsewhere ,,LMAO
People who were raised with a good work ethic wouldn't mind this. Those who were raised coddled (spoiled) do. Just shows the decline of society nowadays. JMO.
It's more like I get hired to do a specific task, like stocking meat before running register. Then, the management fires 30% of our employees and a shift goes from 6 people down to just 3 and often just 2 with call offs. Especially since Aldi keeps hiring like 18 y/os who don't actually want to be there. Now I've got to stock meat, stock inside and outside cooler, and stock bread and pastry before running register for the same pay as when I just did meat. If I don't finish it on time, the shift supervisor who now has to do 20 pallets of produce and freezer will have to pick up my slack. This is all a part of the day from 5:30am to 8:30am opening. Three hours to do all of this, making sure to rotate and inspect product and sort through backstock. This is a big reason why quality at aldi has slackened in my opinion. We don't have the time anymore to inspect every tomato or cabbage to see if it's fucked up. Before, you had enough employees to cover every department and usually they kind of became the experts in that area and could make it your own. Since everyone jumps around right now and is so stretched for time, there isn't really an incentive to organize and really set up a department because on your day off a part time 18 year old will fuck it up anyway. Usually we get it done, and then the shift supervisor has to start putting out grocery (everything not in freezer, meat, cooler, produce, or pastry) which can be as bad as 14 pallets standing taller than they do. Both employees need a break, the shift lead will have to cover the cashier for 30 minutes for their lunch. So for 30 minutes nothing important really gets done. Adding on all of the other tasks, like making cardboard bales which can be time consuming, restocking meat and produce several times a shift as it will run out from fully stocked a few times, cleaning up customer messes, helping boomers find shit right in front of them, collecting carts from the parking garage/lot, and dealing with crackheads who wander in off the subway harrassing customers and stealing, two people cannot get everything done. The nightshift has an equal workload of different tasks they have to do before closing, so being slow just screws you over the next day with more work since night shift will also only have 2-3 people. You are absolutely expected to stay until it's finished, unless you are at risk of earning overtime, in which case you are practically escorted to the time clock and then out the door. That's the other thing, ALDI will let you have fulltime benefits but you will rarely be 40 hours on the schedule. They have five or so hours where you are just expected to stay or come in early when the story needs it regardless of your personal schedule since they can't predict how fucked up any particular day will be. Since they purposely short change people on hours like this, there's weird shit going on in the weekly schedule where there's gaps in store coverage when there could have been another person but isn't. When people say "Oh no robots are stealing your job" with the self checkout stuff, I'm thinking "Please let it happen" We have 2-3 people a shift and one is chained to the register not achieving anything actually useful since you aren't allowed to leave the register area.
I agree, but as somebody that does have good work ethic, I can confirm that these stores used to be an opportunity, however now- especially with the world's economy- it is more work on the individuals, ridiculous standards that are seemingly one-way, and micromanaging up the wwaaahoo. I honestly used to love the challenges and saw it as a workout while working. Now, we have a whole new wave of ridiculous standards that are meant for some type of unrealistic utopia. If a worker have covid, they will still be expected to come into work and give 110% If a worker's spouse has a heart attack, they will need to find coverage for their shift before they are allowed to leave. (Of course there is the exception of having a kind enough boss to say "holy shit. yeah, get to it. I'll get you covered.")
After working in a pallet factory with experience in the manual areas with actual back breaking work, this looks comfy. The pallet factory was constant heavy lifting for 8 hours with a 30 minute break. I think anybody young and fit should experience that hell, it'll make you thankful for almost anything else
Doesnt matter what company...retail here and anywhere sucks.

This is all very true. Been with rhe company over 5 years, hurt my back.....and was quickly told i cant do light duty there and was forced to use vacation time.
1300 biweekly after taxes or before before taxes?
Probably gross (before) since 40 hours @ $20 is $800
@@stoundingresultslmao u did the match wrong. Bi weekly is every 2 weeks and it would 80 hrs not 40 so double that
Join the club. I'm a produce manager for another corporate monster with no assistant. I hear that it used to be better before it became publicly traded but now, their "people first" policy just means they squeeze everything possibly out of people that are foolish enough to work for them.
Former Aldi employee from the distribution center for over a year. Definitely one of my worst experiences ever!
Aldi treats me very well
I noticed that once they installed self-service tills all the women were gone.
Ok so I shouldn’t apply then 😅😂
Have to say this whole hate video is laughable.
the complaints sound ridiculous, Im pretty sure most people get injuries and pains from working.
This is a re upload.
At Walmart you see people standing doing nothing. Many are helpful.
Im coming from being a general manager of a busy chipotle. Im in the process of potentially starting to train for a store manager . Is it worth it ? Different from what i have done in a way, but better in pay in salary, by a good amount
At Aldi you’d better buy less to keep up with the cashiers speed 😂😂😂
They ask if you believe in god during the interview
hahah why would they ask that! everybody???? does???
I do not think that that is a proper question. Separation of church and state.
@@Stephenrsm7600 I’m 30 rn and this interview was after highschool so like 12 years ago. I was thrown off by the question because it wasn’t relevant. Needless to say I didn’t get the job
@FredrickKrueger FredrickKrueger, I am pleased that you did not get the job, it sounds like you could have been physically hurt or psychically injured by so accepting. WoW, 12 years ago!!!
I would just laugh and leave if I were asked that in an interview.
Sounds like Publix
Dont let Aldi's fool y'all they are super horrible towards theire employees. I had shopped at few locations and some employees broke down in tears bc of the high demand. I actually talked to management and said y'all need do better and treat you're employees with more respect but they act like they didn't care.
Thank god I looked this up cause I have a group interview today!! 🏃🏾💨💨💨💨
How did it go?
@ I didn’t go it was really like the video and I seen it in person I just happen to go shop there and it’s exactly how the video said it would be I mean piece by piece
@@tomkobe2245 interesting 🤔 thanks for the feedback
oh no i might sit in the AC and scan bar codes or they may tell me to sweep the floor in the AC! and i only have to pass kindergarten? i work 70 hrs a week and what i do ranges from framing, drywall, roofing, concrete, tile, landscape, mowing, cutting trees, rebuilding engines and transmissions, office work, passing out flyers, welding, spraying chemicals, electrical, plumbing, carpentry websites, graphic design, hiring, fixing computers, and lot more. but i guess thats why i make $15k a year
Yes, i agree getting paid the same to scan barcodes and sweep the floor is wrong. they should get paid less to sit and scan bar codes than they do to sweep. so cut their pay. like store gonna hire someone to come in 1 hr a day to sweep and like anyone would take that job. employees think they should be robots and do the same thing all day long. well go work on an assembly line then. bolt the same 2 pieces together all day every day for next 20 years.
Es ist halt ein deutsches Unternehmen und da muss man halt arbeiten.😉
A BAD ATTITUDE SHOWS UP EVERY
WHERE AT ALDI.
THEY HAVE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER, SO I HAVE TO RING THE LOCAL
COUNCIL TO COLLECT THEIR
$ 1000 TROLLIES AND FINE THEM $400
FROM THE LOCAL GOVT, TO GET THEM BACK.
10 staff person shift? At cvs we only had 2
Are those old, fat and young people actors or actual employees? Cause it reality this job isn't for them.
Simpler said, you have to work and be like a robot, let all of your humanity at the door as you get in there.
not always ... I always give a little small talk when we are not extremely busy, but you shop there for prices, so deal with how we get you those prices ... by being efficient ... or shop st Wal-Mart and love life in one of those hour long checkouts LMAO
@@artmanromit’s a job you dimwit what do you expect
Well, I can’t stand customers who small talk with the cashier as I wait in line behind them. If you’re lonely and need someone to talk to, find another person, like another customer. Don’t waste the time of all those people behind you.
They also break alot of rules. And bully staff.
oh,,thanks God,,i am not going to work with a lousy people any more,,thats good to me,,
They act like they are small company for expect employees to do everything in once like robot. I doubt anybody will stay long working there.
These kinds of jobs are like concentration camps. Unfortunately there is nothing one can do and it’s so disappointing.
Good luck finding people to work with these policies...millenials/gens will not do it.
Lol what
Does a 4 legged cow test better than a 3 legged cow 🐄 🤔
1:14 just like Jerman no small and work fast
There is a Aldi. We're I go I fine the staff in there are very rude a talking away on their headset you can see they're looking of people and more likely talking about them I asked the staff one day something and should just see to be snobby you're going to a shop you expect to find some of the stuff being nice I think mortalism have got an attitude problem being on them headset
Slavery 😢😢😢😢😢
This sounds like another 'let's bad mouth a company with lots of Reddit and anonymous complaints' so we get some clicks on UA-cam.
3 months later...
How's everything been thus far?
I also worked at aldi one year. Worst company ever. Extremely bad management. Complete socialism based on company. Company does not believe in performance raise so, so if you are a hard worker you are promised to be a slave to not only upper management but to your lazy co worekers who are not doing correct work. Management failing hard. Company polices are joke. Absolutely definately one of the worst.
"Must be nice to sit down"
Sounds like Fingerhut, I use to work at.
There's zero work life balance.
Boo on Aldis!
I hope you aren’t being sarcastic 😂, but I agree with u. I m happy just to have a job.
Not much better than Starbucks then I suppose 😂😅
Yeah, both of them use unskilled labor!
poor babies have to actually work at work.
JMO.
Not necessarily. Given what kinda jobs pay it's often just not worth it.
Thank you for sharing this. I applied and was asked to come in for a group interview. I'm not a physically fit person, so I will pass on this company.
If a worker have covid, they will still be expected to come into work and give 110%
If a worker's spouse has a heart attack, they will need to find coverage for their shift before they are allowed to leave.
I think anybody young and fit should experience that hell, it'll make you thankful for almost anything else
german standart 🤷
Don’t nobody like that off-brand azz Food anyway
Cake job Aldi employees are slow & lazy that why they work there plus its 40 hours a week max .
Great, let's check it out. 0:03
