The brown and white snack is not yucca. It's getuk lindri. How to make it: cassava steamed, then mashed it together with sugar, then kneaded it and kneaded it again until the consistency resemble doughnut/bread dough. Shape it however you like and usually sprinkled with coconut flakes.

the authentic beef rendang from west sumatera island is very spicy and it is cooked for 6 - 8 hours with lots of different spices and fresh coconut milk. I'm surprised that none of our overseas bazaar ever introduce or promotes foods from eastern Indonesia such from Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua. In Sulawesi itself there are thousands of different local specialties, each province has its own specialty. For instant foods from Manado mostly use fish this region is famous with sour, hot as in spicy of chilli,and salty. When you visit Indonesia you can try halal Manado foods such as cakalang (tuna family) fish pampis, Tude fish with sambal dabu-dabu, chicken woku, chicken rica-rica, bagea cookies (made of sago flour). And you can also try some Borneo/kalimantan foods such as Soto banjar, it's kind of sup with chicken meat, it is so good. Similar to Sulawesi, each province in Borneo (Kalimantan island) has its local specialty. I guess it will take years for you to try each local specialty in Indonesia. the reason why most of the meat are dry is because here, originally most of the cook method are to preserve food as long as possible. we are tropical country so its a bit hard to preserve any kind of food. cooking with spices and make the meat tad dry is one of the way to preserve meat bit longer. it's still a habit even to this day
I like Mbak Fefe explain that Indonesian speaks Indonesian, English, and local language based on the island they're living. I adore people who's bilingual or more.

Oh and a little bit information I would like to share with you, based on what i know so far as an indonesian, there are actually more than 800 languages spoken in indonesia. Those are local languages (or tribe languages, including the dialects) and are actually the first language of the people who belong to those certain tribes. I am Javanese and therefore my first language is Javanese language. That is because I was brought up in the javanese neighborhood and my family speaks javanese to me all the time. Bahasa Indonesia is our national language but to some people, it is their second language. In some cases, there are people who can only speak their first language or tribe language (e.g Javanese) and cannot speak bahasa Indonesia.
Interestingly enough, most Indonesians are at least bilingual because we speak our first language and also Bahasa Indonesia. English and any other languages are actually foreign language and not many of us speak it. When you visit Indonesia, you can easily find English speakers in big cities like Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, or Yogyakarta, but not in the rural area.
Hope this little piece of information helps you a bit about what language do Indonesians speak 😆💚
