    Always cool to see a King's Field review. Although you can actually refresh character's dialogue by simply standing around for about 5-10 seconds after the character has finished his dialogue. Are you planning on reviewing the rest of the games?

    • @Slippybro
      @Slippybro  Рік тому +4

      Oh that's neat that refreshing dialogue happens sooner than floor transitions/triggers, I guess I just didn't wait quite long enough. Especially since it just cycles right away in the other games
      I might do them somewhere down the line, I'm just not sure how much more I can say vs. KF1 since it's mostly world design changes, added verticality, plus the magic changes I mentioned. I really just wanted to do KF1 since it feels like it's less appreciated than it deserves

      @@Slippybro Sweet! Yes, I always felt that KF1 is very much amazing on it's own, even without taking it's sequels into the equation, might actually be my favorite out of all, despite it's simplicity compared to the sequels.

      @@Slippybro True. There's very little King's Field content on youtube, but the content that exists focuses primarily on KF2 and Ancient City.

    King's Field 3 blew me away when you get to the Graveyard and you get to go back to the first level of King's Field 1, it really puts into perspective how small scale that first game was compared to the Third that had you running around the entire world.

    Hey speaking of the Sword of Moonlight engine, if you've looked into the fan games made in this engine, you probably heard of Moratheia.
    But if you haven't heard of it, yeah Moratheia is great it's been in development for 10 years and almost all the graphic assets of this game are original. Also is atmosphere is top notch, I highly recommend it

    I've never played King's Field games, but there is one thing I'm certain - Dark Reality from KF4 is a BANGER song.
    Anyway, great video! Fromsofteare have a long history, I really wonder how they will modernize Armored Core with 6

    What are you talking about with the double secret? Specifically where you use the leaf on the gravestone to open the passage. You go back there fight the mummy and there's a chest and another gravestone with the leaf etched on it but I haven't figured out anything else to do there.

    Playing through the series myself recently. I found the sequel. The first to be released in the west my favourite. Mainly for the location and music. I found the more water focused open environments more interesting as much as it is tougher to get through. But my favourites are KF2, 1, 3 and 4 being my least liked

      @@Shibu_PL My issues with KF4 mostly are just personal preferences. I just prefer the ps1 graphic style, level up system and with KF2. The world you play in. KF4 is the best game of the series to play. But it never got me like the others did.

    when "elder scrolls leveling" is actually just "king's field leveling" but (modern) TES fans don't play good games so they don't realize that

    • @Doc_Fun
      @Doc_Fun 3 місяці тому

      TES: Arena predates King's Field. I don't remember exactly if it uses a similar system to Daggerfall (because I hate Arena) but the KF games were always obscure in the west, so TES gets the credit even if doesn't deserve it.

    "Just using these controls for a short period of time, you'll find yourself cruising through floors." Maybe things in Shadow Tower are different than King's Field, but I couldn't stand having to use individual buttons to control look up, look down, turn left, turn right, and so on. Often times I needed to tilt up just to get a good angle to slash at the living skeletons, otherwise my hits wouldn't connect. And strafing around giant enemies really hurt my fingers quickly. I absolutely could not stand to control a game this way. At least when you had to use keys to control Doom, the game had a faster frame rate and movement speed. And now when controlling Doom with a mouse for look, nothing compares to the speed and accuracy. If I could play King's Field like I do Doom today, then I'd gladly give this series a try.

    • @Slippybro
      @Slippybro  Рік тому

      Shadow Tower actually has notoriously bad hitboxes early on, which compounds with weapon length being a factor; the controls aren't the issue. KF2, 3 and 4 all have a ton of verticality and there's little to no issues with trying to gauge whether or not your attacks will hit
      And of course, KF1 has basically no verticality, so looking up and down is a non-issue

    • @FilmmakerJ
      @FilmmakerJ Рік тому +1

      @@Slippybro Ah, gotcha. Cause I was having to look down for slimes and spiders, and look up for flying enemies, and had to get extremely close to land any hits. I was so confused at first. But I gave up on playing Shadow Tower more so for how tired my fingers got strafing around the big trolls in this mine area not too far into the game. It just because a difficult grind by then.
      That said, I can't escape how much I love the mystique of these Kings Field games, especially the 4th, which I've been hoping could be re-created in a new indie game with more modern controls.

    • @xXLunatikxXlul
      @xXLunatikxXlul 9 місяців тому

      This is definitely the same case in Shadow Tower. Playing it on PS3 and PS1 at the moment for Halloween - alongside Nightmare Creatures. I would say, Shadow Tower suffers from similar faults the KF series faces(aside from KF1).
