    • @bleachedout805
      @bleachedout805 Рік тому +101

      That's true for literally every human. But looks just change and attract a different demographic as you age. Just be healthy and fit and you'll continue to attract healthy and fit people.
      My mom is 50 and has a considerably younger husband. She looks really good for her age.

    • @bumblingfumbling
      @bumblingfumbling Рік тому +191

      @@bleachedout805 thats not really true though is it? that it applies to every person equally? Women's worth has always been more intrisically tied to superficial qualities like "beauty." I think you missed what op was trying to say bud, its not about whether youre actually beautiful, its about feeling like you will be treated differently when no longer young and "hot," just listen to any man with a podcast talk about women, women are treated differently when they do not conform to beauty standards and when they age and become less "beautiful."

    • @stadot1427

      @@bumblingfumbling as a woman who has never conformed to beauty standards nor internalized the idea of "beauty=worth" I both agree and disagree. I have never gotten the kind of attention my better made up friends have always gotten, but I see that as a good thing. The male attention I do get is generally of a much better quality from men of depth and character. I am often able to build better male friendships and rarely have to shut down unwanted attention.
      So I think you're right in your observation, but also these are not the type of men a woman should want to impress anyway. She's only setting herself (and him/them) up for disappointment when the beauty fades.

    • @bumblingfumbling
      @bumblingfumbling Рік тому +77

      @@stadot1427 this isnt about male attention. this is about treatment of women in general and by wider society, including other women, when they do not put in the properly deemed effort to look beautiful or their beauty/youth fades.

    • @stadot1427
      @stadot1427 Рік тому +10

      @@bumblingfumbling You have a point there too, but since you brought up men with podcasts I did hone in on that aspect in particular.
      But what I said goes for women too. I similarly attract and make friends with some pretty amazing women who value me for who I am as a person, not for 'looking good.' Have you heard those stories of brides wanting to kick women out of their bridal party because they don't "fit the image" or put on weight or are maybe too hot? Yeah, not happening with the women I hang around. Because if they want to have fashionable or attractive friends, they take one look at me, how I dress, and move on.

And I was kinda referring to models and even actors in general. Sure they may live a lavish life style, but that doesn't mean they don't suffer. Sometimes they starve or dehydrate themselves, have to stick to strict diets and exercise routines, and one accident even a minor one like a scar on the face could mean the end of their careers.
