I’m new to Smosh content as I am completely off the spectrum as far as the usual demographic (Gen X Black woman, Baybee!). The story of Anthony and Ian buying it back from Rhett and Link (my boys) was intriguing so I started watching. I am so impressed with how funny and silly and entertaining the shows and skits are. The entire cast is amazing and I find Courtney to be a hilarious actress. Kudos to her for standing up for herself which had to be so difficult. I hope she - and all other creators - are in a better place on the show. And from a viewers viewpoint, it appears that they are. All the very best. Thank you for helping me laugh through the rough times.❤
In most places, but especially in entertainment, men seem bent on reducing women (or people that they identify as women) to a a punchline. One that serves their own desires or that underscores their anxieties around intimacy and vulnerability. That Courtney experienced this at Defy isn’t surprising but it’s still appalling, and they are so much more than what those producers and writers credited them with. Good on Smosh in general - Anthony in particular - for giving Courtney a space for giving voice to these painful experiences rather than covering it up.
Don't equate women's rights issues with those of men dressing up. Biological sex is a reality a woman can never opt out of. We are forever in danger of pregnancy and being the physically weaker sex.
