    The guy in China told Sorin he needed to improve his soldering skills. Now that is funny. The guy didn't know he was dealing with the master of solder. Great job and thank you for sharing as always!

    Congratulations Sorin! 😍
    One thing has to be pointed out: people who do bga chipset/gpu/memory replacement using only hotair with or without simple preheater, are more experienced, have more skills, than advanced service engineers, because they are certified, qualified only to push buttons, to start or stop BGA profile procedure on their advanced bga stations/machines. So the real skills and experience is when you do it manually but with success, using basic tools.💪

      Sorin is good, but without having a heat profile through a machine who knows how long that'll last

    • @orange_tweleve
      @orange_tweleve 4 місяці тому

      @kurtstone1272 im sure with experience he is minicking the heat profile , you dont need to set your hot air station to change temps , the distance of the nozzle is the key.

      @ Fabrice: It's also the first time I've seen a youtuber soldering that kind of IC without the expensive specialized machine. Awesome! Masterful work of welding technique in microelectronics at an average cost that any workshop can afford. Master Sorin has left me silent and reflecting, that is to say, speechless! All the best.

      @Mr Guru I've seen a Californian from a county near LA do that on cell phones and laptop motherboards using hot tweezers and mesh to clean up the traces and since he's an authorized dealer for Amtech flux of course he also promotes its use. On the other hand, I have seen a British man who humiliated another fellow countryman of his (I admire the latter) who owns the specialized machine for BGA and even fixed a PS5 mainboard CPU sent to him by a native youtuber from Oregon, USA and at the same time, he also used his well-known "jokes" in the video. Once again, and I say it with absolute frankness, I thank you for your answer because that way, with our comments, we also learn. An affectionate greeting from Mexico.

    Incredibly well done! 2 times!!

    As of today I will NOT throw away any LED TV mainboard no matter how expensive it is. Hugely grateful to you for sharing this knowledge with us, another way of saying it, clients and TV workshops, we both benefited. A huge congratulations. I didn't see the scale thumbs up x 1Mega: I would have chosen it! A brotherly greeting from Mexico.

      @Mr Guru Custom? I like "exclusively for us" better. I understand... for example, Samsung uses its own CPU in its mainboards for its different models and screen sizes and the same is done by other well-known manufacturers. These ICs are not available for sale to the public or with their authorized distributor so that you are forced to buy the complete card and for that same reason I will not find them with any Chinese supplier but as we know what they are capable of ( excellent copiers) I still hold out hope. By the way, alibaba: what does it mean in the literature?
      For now, I'll have to keep buying the complete PCBs from shopjimmy. Thank you very much for locating me with your answer and I say it with absolute sincerity and since I'm talking about it, I always read your comments, very accurate by the way. An affectionate greeting to Australia.

    Hey Sorin Well done. I've tried the same proccess with regular hot air gun and 50 percent of the times i tried i was successful. I think it depends on the hit air machine and the size of the board itself. I have to say i was amazed with the little time it took for you to take out the dead chip your hot air machine is quite powerful

    Is just that some times we get spoiled by technology and we forget that back in the day people like you did jobs like this with less than a hot air machine.

    There is the reason I am following , because, I see you learned with the life, you not have everything "free" and you learn with the fights from your live and the problem's you solve without the right tools , this person's like you the right place it not on UA-cam but like a teacher OR make training classes... I now it possible because i make the same in ps5 consoles from Controller ssd , in my pace the boss order a 5000 euro machine with alignment, but the time I am lost I am prefere solder by and (time in Switzerland it is very expensive)... well done MASTER.

    The biggest issue with replacing larger chips like that, this way, is bending the fiberglass due to the rapid heat. Best heating the board up using a heat mat then use the hot air. That's what BGA reball stations do well. Good job Sorin

    I purchased two Super IO chips from that shop. They preprogram them and ensure functionality.
    I would absolutely recommend that shop; they're absolutely fantastic!
    On another note, that's really just another form of art that you can install a new PCH on a motherboard without a reball station. I always thought it was possible but I've just never seen anyone do it.
    I challenge you to do it with a CPU.....

    That is some insane skill. On factory lead-free balls too.
    I should get some old laptops or idk and see if I can do it.

    • @Alex-mj7km
      @Alex-mj7km Рік тому

      @Mr Guru Not sure about that, because used PCH or CPU(SoC one) might have boot guard initialized and wont work.

    • @Alex-mj7km
      @Alex-mj7km Рік тому

      @Mr Guru It has, because all Intel SoCs and PCHs starting since haswell support boot guard, and I believe that starting since 6th generation, most laptop manufacturers enabled bootguard which writes a public key to PCH upon first boot, and it stays there with no way to reset it. Which means used chips are useless, unless you find one that came from same laptop manufacturer board or even model. And since used chips are useless, there is no need to reball it.

    • @Alex-mj7km
      @Alex-mj7km Рік тому

      @Mr Guru Just search official documents about bootguard from Intel, they explain how it works in detail. Proving that boot guard is enabled on most laptops is hard, but you can use tools like AIDA64 which would tell you if boot guard is configured without disassembling BIOS and checking it with Flash Image tools or whatever. Id like to put links, but they would get deleted.

    One thing you could do is make a frame for the chip so it is directly above where it should be,
    out of metal: so the chip does not slide off the target. Heavy enough and taped in place. Makes
    the soldering easier and with a tiny bit of free play. The containment could be on two opposite
    corners.

  • @xx3868

    Reflow machine varies the temp carefully to avoid cracked crystalline balls which MAY occur when a job is done this way although this was a brilliant job by Sorin and first go too!! His experience counts and when reflowing with a hot air a frozen chip works too as he has shown in the past but may only last a short time.
    Perhaps talk about reflow heating times and why that may leave do a better job than using just hot air and leaving dodgy balls perhaps? If you could move the gun slowly up to the board then after flow, slowly away so s not to shock from dropping temp. Just some thoughts to do best job if using hand air.
