How Do Farmers Harvest Corn?

- More at thefarmerslife.com! I took the time to get some great footage of our corn harvest this fall. It was all shot with my GoPro Hero 3+ mounted on the equipment or flying above attached to my DJI Phantom 2.

*Corn Harvest*
So just how do we get all the corn we raise out of the field? I took some time this fall to capture our harvest on film with a ***** camera and my Phantom 2 unmanned aerial vehicle. I'm really happy with the way the final product turned out! I've also posted a soybean, popcorn, and wheat harvest set of videos on my UA-cam channel. Enjoy!

Thanks, billrok. I really think that the aerial shots are great for social media. My main goal is to connect with the non-ag public, and shots like this really give people a better sense of what it is we are doing.

A full load on the combine is just over 400 bushels. Have been close to 450 a few times, but that is pushing the limit. Equates to just over 10 metric tons.
Thanks for sharing. Been around potatoes all my life, but have eaten a lot of popcorn. I've wondered if it was any different than regular corn. From the field to storage or the actual ?packaging facility?
So is this not corn for eating? Since you waited till it's dried and pulling it off the cob. What is it for exactly?
It's not sweet corn. Sweet corn is actually only about 1% of US corn acres. Half our corn is dent corn. It will be used as animal feed and ethanol and many other products. The other half of our corn is waxy corn. It has many uses in food products, buy also industrial uses as well like adhesives.

We also raise popcorn which is only about 1% of the national crop as well.
