Hey Silencia, thanks for checking out the video and for asking this important question. Admittedly, sometimes we get so used to our world where everyone knows these terms that we forget to give more explanation for those just getting exposed to them! Alpha Strike: an army that goes in hard with either shooting or melee turn one or first thing turn 2. Basically hitting their opponents so hard that it makes it harder for them to win with their diminished resources thereafter. A lot of times though this looks better on paper than it actually is, especially if the opponent is good at screening with less valuable units. MSU: minimum sized units or multiple small units, basically a listbuilding style where you favor the smaller size of units so that you can bring more of them to act as independent agents. Particularly good for Battle Tactics where you don’t want to waste a quarter of your army by sending them off to a corner or something where they can’t also deliver their value in output. That said, with drops being so important in the game right now, going full MSU can often lead to problems. Priority Target/Special Assignment: in the current General’s Handbook Rules (for 2024-25) we have the ability to give one unit in your General’s regiment an extra ability. Priority Target gives them +1 to-hit/wound against any units in your opponent’s General’s regiment, and Special Assignment gives them +1 Rend against a specific unit type (Infantry, Cavalry, etc) in combat on a turn in which they charged
@@silencia08 It’s an either/or. If you have access to it where you are, the app has all the rules for free in it (if you want to see the exact wording). Check under Core Documents -> General’s Handbook 2024-25 -> Season Rules 2024-25
Wouldnt be a bastilodon solar as Bodyguard for an oldblood on carno with celestial being trait be viable because the enemy would like to get rid of the -1to Hit but the bastilodon is too tanky to easily do that
Nice video again! Looking more forward to playing either my LRL, S2D or OBR for 4th edition but Seraphon is one of my armies which I was wondering about. The new models do look great but it is slightly disappointing to see that the whole army is more or less turning into being very similar to my other melee armies (Ironjawz, S2D, etc.) without having much to give it its own flavor. For the Kroxigors where they want to hit a unit that has 10 or more models, am I right to think that if the unit drops to 9 models, the Kroxigors lose their damage bonus or is it based off the usual unit size?
On the krox: you are right. They lose their bonus when the enemy unit drops to nine models. I also agree that seraphon plays very similarly to other armies right now. All seraphon armies are also more or less the same, which is a bummer. But the models are so sick. Here's hoping they'll receive a book soon.
great video! regarding kroak, I'd say I feel that its better that these unique centerpieces are good but not autoinclude, and I feel that's a fail for the ushoran design
I played at a tournament last week, Seraphon vs Seraphon game where my opponent brought his realmshaper and I didn't bring mine. He kept a skink starpriest back near his realmshaper and just chipped at me the entire game. I think that's the most effective use. A 24" range can hit A LOT of terrain in the game, and most of the time, there are multiple units near at least one piece of terrain it can target. So a 110 point starpriest could theoretically do 45 mortal wounds a game (targeting three units a turn and doing 3 wounds per unit). More likely, it may do 20-30 MWs. That's punching way above his points value. If he happens to get some spells and unbinds off as well, that's a bonus.
Thus, I do like the realmshaper as an offensive defensive tool. It's not a lot, but the +1 to hit bonus allows me to get a +1 save on the unit that is fighting, and so my guards/warriors/respawn unit can still fight at the best against units. Not that much but still a thing in a world of 4-5 CP maximum. (But yeah, that 6"*6" block is hard to put sometimes 😂)
I think Kroak now that he has reduced damage, he should have 18 range. That alone would improve him a lot. With 12 range and 5 move, he simply does not get in range enough
@@strategoinice! I just love painting them and the saurus warriors, speaking of which, how are the saurus warriors, and is it possible to make a viable list around saurus warriors and kroxigors? And I’ve picked up a couple of spawns of chotec, was wondering if they’re any good as well?
Eternal Starhost lost Core so that got the improvement. As a note per the wording of the rules if you brought the Realm Shaper Engine it is terrain piece and the rules say you "must" deploy your terrain in the deployment phase. So just don't bring it at all.
Warriors are good. But they are the anvil so must be played as one. Cant take alot and hope you do good damage. We got damage though so dw can still take sarus theme.
What does Alpha Strike, Priority Target, MSU, Special Assignment mean?

I'll pin this post so other people can find the same answers. Thanks for asking the question and thank you Ryan for the fantastic explanation.
@@ryanburruss “priority target / special assignment” is it an “either or” or can I pick both?

It's an either, you make your choice in the deployment phase, after you and your opponent deployed all units@@silencia08
Thanks fellas for having me on! Enjoyed it!
Well if it isn’t my favorite Dinorider.

Thanks for joining mate. Always happy to hear your insights.
Such an awesome personality mate 👌

We had a blast, man. See ya in the next one!
I know I’m late to the party but you should do a workshop to teach us scrubs how to play better in the DFW area. Teach us the way! 😂
Great video guys, enjoyed this while painting my raptadons😊
❤️
Great video! I’m a new Seraphon player and it was very helpful hearing your thoughts/conversations
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, our favourite lizard here!
I deff think the +1 to cast and the once per game 3d6 to cast is important in the context of Endless Spells (Gnashing Jaws and Krondspine)
For sure!
Thanks a lot, great content! I would love to see a video on what you changed your mind about in the Lumineth index.
You're welcome!
I'll definitely do the re-do on the Lumineth stuff, but I might wait just a little while before I do.
@@strategoi I think redoing it all isn't really necessary, things may also change with the battlescroll. A shorter update video would be better.
And we JUST got another pts adjustment this month. This vid about to go so hard

Also very true! Such a fine line between 'auto include' and 'solid'

Good point! It depends on what Heroes you're bringing too. If you can spare a starpriest for it, it might be pretty good, yeah! 👍

Any thoughts about the Saurus guard? Are they viable?
They're great!

playing idk against seraphon, i’ve found the terrain ability really annoying when i’m trying to strike and fade off terrain
Good shout.
Wow! Like bacon and eggs 🥚 🥓 lol
I played saurus heavy last edition, I feel like now my army is going to really suffer.
Depends what your saurus lists tended to look like. Warriors seem a little weaker than just guard, but guard is pretty strong, so...
