Dr. Fung was the very first person on UA-cam I started watching over 14 months ago. Since then I have lost 90 pounds and gone down 7 clothes sizes. Only 10 pounds to go!! I am thinner than I was in high school and I can honestly say, I'm much much healthier than I was then also. I've learned so much from him regarding eating and not eating especially. Because of him, I started a healthy, positive, goal-setting eating pattern for life. I watch a few others on UA-cam also. The FREE knowledge out there is wonderful. I thank you Dr. Fung for saving my life and giving me longevity! Not only do I plan on living at least to 105, I'm going to live HEALTHY! You rock Doctor!!!!!!!

Great job! What is your fasting pattern? I eat in a window of 8 hours. First meal at 10am, Second meal at 2pm and finally a Third meal at around 5:30ish.

I eat basically one and a half meals a day. 18 hour fasts. I eat half meal at 11 am, second larger meal at 4:30 ish. Also once a week I do a 42 hour fast. Maybe once a month I do a 4.5 to 5 day fast. Since I'm on those last few pounds, I've had to "trick" my body into losing. That darn plateau! It's working but happening at a slower pace. I feel SO HEALTHY!!! Dr. Fung was a game changer for me. I have yo-yo dieted all my life, but no more. This is a very healthy new and permanent way of living.

@@tere13938 mine was a bit aggressive. First I cut out all bad carbs and especially bread for 2 months. No fast food, pop or junk. But during that I was doing 2-3 miles a day on my treadmill and hitting the bowflex 3 or 4 times a week. And as far as fasting goes, I was doing alternate day fasting. Like Dr fung I cut out breakfast completely. Was only having coffee with no sugar. Then I would eat lunch and dinner (both healthy and sensible meals). Then the next day I wouldn't eat again until dinner time and it was a BIG but healthy meal...lots of greens. Then the next day just sensible lunch and dinner, then no food until the next day til dinner time, and so on. I did that consistently for 5 months and I squeaked in a couple if extended fasts, one time was 48 hours and another time was 71 hours. Now at age 40 my body and metabolism are alive again. I can have the occasional cheat meals and I just don't eat 3 meals a day, and the meals I do eat I don't stuff my self. I can maintain my 190-200 lb weight and I'm in control. Fasting isn't a perfect science, you have to listen to your body and find what works best for you. Good luck and god bless

One of my favorite consequences of fasting is having an extra 45m - 1h in a day at work since I don't have to eat lunch or snack to keep going. Since my job involves working with machines and potential radioactive contamination, I also don't have to plan my eating windows around putting my work in a safe condition. I can just work through lunch with maybe an unscheduled 10-minute break for water/coffee.

Just hit my goal. Wanted to go from 258 to 210. Stared the 1st week of April. I used cold juice pressing intermittent fasting as a door to slowly close the window towards OMAD (One Meal A Day). It made it easy to do an occasional extended fast. I’d skip the evening juice, go to bed and juice for lunch. After the 10 days juice only fasting I’d take a week, keep it low carb and learn to eat again. Plenty of protein and fat. Nothing processed (especially with seed oil) and very little sugar. After a week or when I’d mess up and jump a couple pounds I’d go back to the 10 day juicing cycle. Now I’m experimenting with a four hour window.

When limiting my intake, I was always hungry, always thinking of food. Every day was a struggle. And weight loss always plateaued, and eventually the weight would be back with a vengeance. IF is so different. I have been doing this for almost a year. When I eat, I just eat what satisfies me. I don't even want to eat more. I have no desire to snack in the evening once I've had my supper. This is sustainable.

    • @PSA78

@@spiralgoddess2399 It makes a world of difference depending on what you eat, studies have looked into this as well. If you follow actual scientific research so you get enough protein and fiber, the amount of food sources goes down, and those that are left are large in volume and satiating.
But it's possible to go even further with say paleo if one finds it hard to stay away from certain foods, though food isn't addictive it can still call our name once in a while.
In the end, what works for you to stay in a healthy weight span is most important, but that can be very very different between individuals. A good dietician will look at this on an individual basis, they work with all types of diets, and are fully aware that educating people in counting calories no matter the diet is a must. 🙂

I would LOVE to be able to share my story with you Dr. Fung!!!🙏🤞💓 i love all your videos and share them with everyone I can!!! I am experiencing the most amazing results from intermittent fasting I cannot even believe it! My dad died right before 60, he had type 2 diabetes and fatty liver. intermittent fasting is one of the very top best things I've ever done in my life for myself! I only wish I could have discovered it sooner! Years of knowing what to do, doing the inner work, knowing how to and enjoying eating right, but with intermittent fasting that was the missing key. I have intense energy all day everyday pretty much constantly! I am the most creative I've ever been in my life. I can feel the fat being removed from my body, feeling like I am growing younger and my brain becoming clearer. I had really bad brain fog before I started this I was actually getting worried that I was getting early onset dementia I am 46. My mind is the clearest it has ever been! I feel better than I ever have even as a child or teenager. It is life-changing right before I started intermittent fasting my hair was falling out like so much all day long no matter how much I come through it and now I go to the day with barely a hair coming out and we just noticed today that my husband's bald spot that was completely void of hair is all coming back with new hair! I cannot say enough good things about your videos your work or intermittent fasting! I want to shout it to all from the rooftops! You can be free of the chains that bind you of sickness, being tired, type 2 diabetes, you can fit into all those old clothes again! Get ready to get rid of all of your big clothes and hand them down! Live the life of your dreams!🌈🙏🙌💖☀😘

Fruit breaks your fast because it spikes blood sugar and therefore insulin. If you eat fruit every 24 hours, that's OMAD. Still fasting, but not a 7-day fast. 7 one-day fasts.

The great thing about fasting is you lose weight and get healthier and costs you nothing.

No, you get healthier when you lose weight, no matter the diet.
It's been proven a lot of times.
So any diet that puts you in calorie deficit will work, but with IF or keto you'll lose more LBM and be in worse shape compared to other diets.

I can’t imagine with his schedule and his following Dr Fung would ever read this unless some of his friends or assistants get the message to him. I’ve had the good fortune of following him for several years now. These short videos with specific points with graphics to make those points and testimonial at the end I think have been a very good move. It makes it very easy to share with people and introduce Dr. Fung and fasting to people.
