Are, the reason for burning the wood is that the process of the heating the wood to extreme temperatures actually releases the natural oil's within the wood itself, causing a natural process that helps to seal the wood from diseases and rot . It's almost like pressure treatment but with the tree's own oil's etc. It's great to see you actually doing it the correct way as the most of the UA-cam video's only burn the wood but never bother to brush away the charred bits, so the first time you put your hand upon it you end up covered in soot from the process. As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
Hey thanks for the video. Would like to see some follow up footage. How did it look after 6 months? How often did you have to re coat to keep it protected? Lots of companies claim a lot so real world experiments are the only way to go.
In your opinion, could I make a completely flat, continuous surface using your DIY biscuit/domino jig? I want to make an art/homework table that could double as an occasional picnic table for my son outside in a covered patio in Florida
Thank you, my friend! It's been standing outside for a month now, in both sun and rain. The table top is still pretty much perfect, but the legs have cracked a little bit. Nothing major, though.
Yeah, Norway is a powerful country and smart. Not EU member while selling gas and oil to the peasants in the EU. Hope you guys are building a good relationship with Russia, unlike the fools in Brussels. Bro, nice table!!

Thank you for the elaboration, my friend!
I love your brass plaque dude.
It’s the finishing touches that seal the deal. 🤙
Normenn : " as you can see, I'm pretty happy with it😐"
😅😂👏🙌 kult prosjekt 😄
Dette er en nordmann i ekstase 😂
Scorching the wood was done by old-timers in Colonial America also, it's quite useful and does work. I did it on my cabin posts.
Good video.
Awesome build! love the design and the finish!
Great build and video. I am building something similar right now. I like the burning wood technique! Keep up the cool videos! Cheers.
awesome mate greets from australia
Отличная работа, хороший стол 👍👍

I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
Always appreciate that!
Outstanding craftsmanship Sir, 👍🔨🪓🌲🇮🇪
Thank you, mate! 🇳🇴
Do you have to finish the table with the rubio monocoat or is the burn enough to keep it protected by itself?
BRAVO!!! As usual😊
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Can you do this at a bar height? Any details to consider other than the length of the legs
Great work, Are - as always! 👏🏻😉 Looks nice too 😍
Nice work!
Thank you!

Nice video and table 👏 Would you mind sharing where you got the nice metal plate you attached at the end? Very nice touch
Thank you very much! Yes, I got it from a norwegian website: www.skiltmax.no/skiltomaten/messingskilt
I think it looks great
@@AreBaloni thank you
where did you get the metal tag?
Nice! How much Rubio did you use on this as it’s not cheap?
1 230 kroner for 1 liter wood protector?
Nicely done Are! I wonder how well that table will hold up outdoors & exposed to the elements?
Thank you, my friend!

Btw, did not use Shou Sugi Ban on the legs. Probably should have.
@@AreBalonikinda glad you didnt for testing porpoises. Kinda like a control😊
@@AreBaloniBut would you have burned the end grain? Isn’t that where the moisture is sapped up?
Awesome video man! Does 1 can of buthane last you through the whole project?
Would you explain finish8ng in another video, materials, prossices, how, why, and so on, we want to know name and discription of each material.
Are you worried about the edges of the boards where you couldn't get the Rubio?
Love it❤❤❤
Thank you, my friend 🙏🏻
Nice! Sa brura.
Dude! Safety eyewear! Every time you sand, cut, drill, plane, blow off or otherwise create tiny particles that can go in your eyes!
Precisely. All it takes is one tiny splinter to alter your life forever.
