First Look: 2020 KTM SX-E 5

- We've heard about this little motocross machine a while back, but it is finally here. No, they didn't let us adult testers ride the bike, but we got to see the SX-E 5 in action. We also heard that next year's Loretta Lynn's will have an electric kids bike class for this bike and others like it.
Can’t wait until they make an 85-sized one. That would be the ultimate ride-anywhere play bike
I started riding in 81, racing from 84 until 93... The biggest complaint was noise. Even though I mostly rode on private property. Many of my favourite tracks got closed down because of it.
These bikes are brilliant just for that reason alone. I do prefer the sound of a 2 stroke at full throttle, but now that our area is now a lot more populated.
I will get one of these new Electric bikes one day for sure... I won't race again because of past injuries, though these will be great for trail riding in the bush surrounding my place. Best exercise that you can do in my opinion...
It absolutely needs a removable battery like the beta! Sometimes there isn't a hr between races!
Bring it to Australia. You sell heaps kids are screaming for an escape. In suburbs these are perfect. No more 2 hour drives to find a place that doesn't bother anyone.
had a 400, it wasnt as fadt as a 50 but it was still a good time and it didnt annoy anyone at any hours
Now the tracks will have to install charging stations lol or dad will have a 5kw genny purring away.
MitchOfCanada whats the difference between putting gas in a motorcycle or putting gas in a generator- still burning gas,still making noise( more obnoxious than a dirt bike ) So Bike + Generator + extra battery on stand-by = $8,000 + -
@@michaeljkasnter Efficiency & Downtime and loss of energy. litre per litre you will get WAY less power output from a generator for electricity to move an object than to just strap that generator motor to the bike itself. Plus you still have wear/tear & oil changes to that generator that has to run at 80-100% capacity to charge.
I operate a MX facility and have watched kids ride literally all day 9am until 6pm. They would loose interest if they had to stop every 25 minutes to charge a battery!
Though they don't suggest it you can swap a battery on these in about 8 minutes.

The only thing I don't like about that bike is that at race space it doesn't have a very long ride time
I hope that by the time these kids are 15 they are still allowed to race something on fossil fuel..
Why? These are faster, cost less and best part make no noise = no track closures!

@@natecote1971 they do not cost less lol. I sell KTM, spare battery and a EU2200 generator will cost you $2000 on top min. Bike is almost $1000 more.

Confirmed. The electric is 89.3 lbs, the gas one is 91.5 lbs without gas
