As a retired Army wife, I knew from the title of this song it was going to be hard. Dress Blues are the Army’s formal uniform worn for only formal ceremonies, formal occasions (my husband wore his when we got married) and for funerals. Sleeping in your dress blues is something no military family wants to see. Very moving but tough song to listen to.
Love Jason Isbell…saw him and his band The 400 Unit a couple months ago. Check out “If Were Vampires” “Dreamsicle” “St. Peter’s Autograph” “Only Children” “Alabama Pines” “Strawberry Woman” “Stockholm” ….he’s an amazing songwriter.
Very moving tribute song about USMC Cpl Matthew Conley from Killen (Greenhill), AL. The dress blues are the Marine's dress uniform and the uniform you are buried in at your funeral. Semper Fi Cpl Conley, thank you for your service and your ultimate sacrifice for our country and thank you to Jason Isbell for always remembering your roots.
i would seriously love to see you guys react to more jason isbell. he is easily one of my favorite artists I have ever heard in my life. just an outstanding artist.
This song was written for a guy we went to school with who was training his replacement as he was headed home and an IAD exploded and killed him two weeks before he was coming home. His name was Matthew Conley. He is a home town hero here in Greenhill, Alabama
Such a great reaction. Jason uses a “slide” in a lot of his songs, which is like a hard sleeve that fits over your finger. It produces that twangy steel sound on any acoustic. I’m not very good with one, but I have friends who have mastered the art of getting that same sound by fretting the strings with a Bic cigarette lighter. My old buddy, Tommy, used to amaze me with that trick. He actually made it sound professional.
Whoa wasn't expecting to see an Isbell reaction. Probably the top song writer of today. Can't go wrong reacting to his gut punch songs like Elephant or Vampires but check his early work when he was in Drive by Truckers. Goddamn Lonely Love would make for a good reaction
You missed rhe entire point of the song. Yall are focusing in grandmas and its about a 21 year old who died in war and they brought him home to his town to bury him. Dress Blues are what they bury him in.
Song about a young Marine returning home to be buried in his dress blues
For me, possibly THE songwriter, for this generation.

God bless you, as a retired soldier I know that this life is much harder on the families than it is on us the fighting men.
The dress blues in this song are about a marine that Jason knew growing up

and I think that baby that wasn't here yet just graduated high school. 0_O Time sure flies.
Jason Isbell is the best thing right now in what might be called "country music."
Another, very recent, 2:10 Jason Isbell song: "When We Were Close" - just brings to mind so much music industry sadness. Great song!!
Love isbell hes amazing and puts on a great show too.
Awesome song. Beautiful message.
Jason Isbell is a great songwriter & storyteller.
The song is about a guy from his high school, who got killed in war and is sleeping in his dress blues uniform
Need to read those lyrics.

Love this reaction! What a talent this guy is. Try checking out the song Dreamsicle from his new album. It’s a wrecker…
You could do an all Jason Isbell reaction channel and you wouldn't find a bad song.

It was about a soldier dying young and before his time and being buried in his dress blues
I recommend "Last Of My Kind" next time you listen to Jason Isbell. "If We Were Vampires" off the same album is also amazing
The Magician off of this album is great too
SEMPER FI !
Haven't heard this b4!! Nice! ❤😢
It's so good!
Amazing songwriter.
I've never seen someone hear this song for the first time and not be totally crushed by it. Just completely missed the message.
Do some more Isbell!!!
Jason can write a song

Love y’all but you must’ve been drunk on this one and missed the whole point of the song.
Awesome
Beautiful song and message
