There’s something about the amount of hours dedicated to car restoration that is totally masochistic. The same with stop motion. Putting them together and giving the results away for free - it’s just unbelievably cool! ) just who would do that? So much love for this ❤
Just superb. Who knew a Sprinter Van could look majestic, but it really does gliding across wet grass with those aux lights on. Gonna be a mega tour van towing the Esprit down to Greece.
3:07 GOD I LOVE YOU!!! thank you soooo damn much for doing that. you know how many youtube video's i see of people cutting and drilling holes and NOT PREP anything after just leave it all bare metal... like dawg you just did all this work to make this look so bad ass then you just ruined it by not using some damn nail polish or literally ANYTHING to keep it from rusting... and i mean it happens so much and its a pet peeve of mine and triggers me to no end... to finally see someone do it makes me so happy. i legit just screamed with joy cause i think your really the first to show it
Gah you were trolling about not painting before you installed those rivnuts! I was throwing my hands up after all that amazing rust restoration before you pulled them back out and painted. Well done, you got me good haha
George, really loving all your work on these vehicles. I’ve been binging my way through them all. One comment I have on this one though is soldering the wires and then putting them in a screw down terminal block: Solder creeps so might work itself loose over time if bumps in the road work them loose over the miles, best way for these is to crimp a spade connector on the twisted wires and pop that in there instead.
Oh yes, I remember, there also was a unique, beautifully restiched Van somehwere - Soup, Jack of all projects, first of all the stop-motion clip projects, no matter trailing-arm-welding, added lightness, dirt removal or kid's space-lights to shine on the lawn. Thanks for sharing!
Don't how you let the things move without seeing your hand😂But that's definitely one of the highest quality video we seen before! We watch the whole video!
Thanks for another great vid George! I thought you were going for a minimalist "no voiceover" production this time, but you were just saving your Irish brogue for the last minute...
That's a good tool alternative using a rivnut if you don't own a wad punch. Great that you keep doing your trademark stop motion style. Awaiting more as always. Cheers A.
imagine somebody in the future unscrewing that sidelight and marvelling at the effort that went into it - compared with the usual horrors you find in restored vehicles ❤
I had to laugh, working in IT we often run into weird situations with cabling. Not long ago I had to use a flex grabber like you are using around the 6:00 mark AND a borescope (endoscope) to fish out a network cable the went "missing" in an electrical chase. "It aint stupid if it works"
It may be extra expense, but how about having a separate control for each side? When camping, you may want light on one side (the one facing your tent or campfire) but not on the other side (for discreetness, being a good neighbour, etc...).
Perfect as always 👍 To make it even more perfect - put a bigger gas gun icon stamp on the thumbnail. Almost mised it. For eveve even more perfect job with rivnuts - notch the round hole with squre file a bit. When zinc on zinc oxide grabs between rivnut and bolt you get the spin-nut. Notching the hole prevents this 😉
Far and away the majority of Sprinters in the USA were originally Amazon delivery vans. That came to mind when you received your parcel. Check with your local authorities but flashing lights are often prohibited and reserved for emergency vehicles. (except original caution flashers)
geoooorrrrrrrgeeeEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHhhhhhh... Good day mate! But hey..i dont get it...why put the lights at the bottom of the Snazy Van and not at the top???
Bit of both, oddly the white is a very pointed beam and doesn't flood at all, whereas the amber has a wide pattern. They're perfect for purpose, which is just to give some useful ambient light while setting camp. [and hazard marking in a break down situation]
@@soupclassicmotoring I have a scene light up high on both sides which have a massive spread and are really bright to the point of being obnoxious if you are sat outside at night. Your idea of low level lighting is inspired and more in keeping, love it. Perimeter lighting has turned out to be most useful for navigating a big van through narrow spaces at night. Definitely useful to have a switch that can be operated from the driving seat👍🏼
Af first I was completely like "huh?!?" at the placement, but having side lights like that can obviously come in real handy if you're camping in the bush or is forced to do roadside repairs.
You know that feeling of being under spot lights? I figured they'll work better at low level and they're angled slightly downward because of the sill shape, it works really well for lighting a camp area, without giving a glare from above.
@@soupclassicmotoring Ah, then it makes even more sense. I though you specifically did it for "where did I put the wheel nuts?!?" situations, but yeah, having those on at low setting, flip-out chair against the back side, cold beer in hand and watching the last redness of the sky turn midnight blue is going to give a totally cozy camp feeling.
Good choice to change the thumbnail! At first i thought it was a sinking ship lol. Did you do the water effect in photoshop or was that just an actual drone shot?
Great cinematography as ever, but what are you going to do with this van? Assist at road works? Help the AA? Arrest teenagers at underground raves? They're not going to like you at camp sites with these...
Did you get these for free? if so cool, disregard everything else. If not, why spend your hemorrhaging Patreon/etc dollars on something so trivial when you obviously have many other needs? I have been following you from the beginning and funding you in some compacity for 3/4 of the time, you have so many other needs, I just don't understand it? Maybe I'm not in the loop, but it's baffling to me! I just don't understand. All the best, and yes, Iam your friend.
I suppose it's only trivial if you're not interested in it, but at the end of the day I'm creating a van for me and my family, and videos for anyone who is interested. Rest assured I don't spend money on anything I can't justify in a very real way... I need a workshop too badly to be frivolous. I appreciate your support, and thanks for asking :)
I actually thought this is a great idea, and I’m thinking of doing something similar with my caravan to illuminate the interior of my awning. Lights like this are so handy when you arrive somewhere late!
For those who don't understand: these lights have what's known as an "on/off" switch. You can turn them on when you need/want them, and off when you don't!
Hands down one of the most unique, and quality builder/UA-cam channel out there.
I’m always fascinated by the stop motion. It’s a next level of craftsmanship that you don’t see in any other UA-cam channels. ❤
Hold my beer… Although actually I haven’t done any stop motion in a while, and have never done as much or as well as George does.
I often rewatch his range Rover classic restoration. It's absolutely amazing.
@@asomind Totally agree.
🤔

Loved the slo-mo of the nibbler!
Needed more time to perfect the shot, but I didn't have it! Thanks
UFO sighted on Irish coast. Nice work, G (as usual). Thanks!

Thanks George, as always stunning video and sound.
Cheers Nick
Great looks Mate. Congrats on the New Cutter Tool
Very illuminating episode.
👏🏼
Another masterpiece of stop motion George!
3 minutes in and I'm loving it
Add lightness! Great work as usual 👍🇦🇺
George, wish I had your patience and persistence. The Prince.
What about ye Princy. I’d say donkey stubbornness more than persistence ;)
What a great show. Looks really good from all angles

Aboy the Soup. Cracking job as always.
Camera work spot on like the lights 👍👍👍
I was so happy to see that these were down auxiliary lighting and not headlights!
🙃
Appreciate your efforts great work son Mike Scotland
Thanks for the support, John :)
Literally the best editing on the tube 🏆🏆🏆🏆
Wow. Super bright lights. Top job .
Somebody will be welding up all those holes with cut out pieces of sprinter one day ;-)
🤣 I def won't be around that day
I haven't seen it yet but already love it... the spacehip and the content...

Great video George. I love rivnuts but those setting tools are really irritating, buy one of the nut based ones or make your own.
Must check that out, Peter. Thanks

Btw Is it possible to check out my email:)
THE best videos on UA-cam - well done chap!
Another amazing video. It’s always amazing to see how perfect your videos come out
Great to see you're no longer in need of that haemorrhoid cushion!
Thanks for another great vid George! I thought you were going for a minimalist "no voiceover" production this time, but you were just saving your Irish brogue for the last minute...
Wait for the UFO spotters to start following you 😊 ...or the Gard 😮
And there shall be light , thank you very much for the video
Quality work, as always. Staying "stuck in".
Hmmm, not sure about this one. Might have some limited use on a campsite but I don’t think I’d cut into my van for them. They might grow on me.
That's a good tool alternative using a rivnut if you don't own a wad punch. Great that you keep doing your trademark stop motion style. Awaiting more as always. Cheers A.

Amazing video, as always. Can’t wait for more lotus!
Super cool! fantastic work 🙌
Cool factor = 10/10
Bug attracting factor = 10000 / 10
Never thought of that! What about a big wire frame cage all around with mosquito netting 😂
@@soupclassicmotoring that would be a brilliant idea if you feel the mosquito squadron is way too much!
Going to be time for an interior soon. That's the part I'm looking forward to.

Great video mate! 👍
That opening soundtrack is giving me some great Daft Punk vibes.
I run Auxbeam bulbs in all of my vehicles. Solid choice.
Nothing spells perfect timing better then when you cut holes in your vehicle and then starts to rain heavily, filling the inners of it with water!
Great addition to the project. Well done sir.

Good day mate! But hey..i dont get it...why put the lights at the bottom of the Snazy Van and not at the top???
so that they're not glaring! Think of them as glorified puddle lamps ;)
you're installing heat shrinking cable boots and not shrinking them with heat gun ?
It's not a final install because I've a whole electrical system to design ;)
Amazing!! Perfect van...
I see the return of Georgaplooza
One day revival ;)
Have you thought about either heat treat the plastic bumpers or forever black them?
I've used a hot air gun to reblack all the trim pieces on a few cars - comes up really well.
These bumpers are actually grey from the factory. That's not to say they don't have some mottling going on, but they were never black!
Are they also that weird grey plastic - fiberglass composite?
very cool sir
Love your work. I will start a gofundme campaign to get you new boots.
They have to be fleece lined, and no steel toe. And I like a little buckle for show, but zip for go 😁
Portable rave! Wicked
😁
They don’t seem to put out that much light, are you disappointed? Or is it down to camera settings?

@@coolinmac apparently so…..
Superbe, Georgy !
Great lights! I thought they'd have been more useful mounted higher though...?
They'd light up a greater area for sure, but they'd also give you that imposing glare from above feeling, and be visible far further away.
when are you coming to Miami?
It's been a while... I hope you're ok man.
How do you cut yourself out of the frame... I'm curious
Nice video, but honestly those lights are made to annoy neighbors in the camping ground - right ?!

Rave at George's house!!!!
Yeeeah!

😆 … actual shot! Just the effect of the light on grass. Bit to arty to draw a crowd ;)
@@soupclassicmotoring oh wow thats cool, ty for the explanation! :)
Great photography. Saddened to see decent metalwork cut for seemingly little purpose.
He's got a total recall nostril blob grabber 🤣💪😎😊All true engineers do obviously
When I realised what they had used... it spoiled it :D
The bumpers in color would take down ages of years
George... we are getting Lotus withdrawal symptoms...
5:22 my grandfather invented this grabber😃
lol no way!
FIRST!!!!
Not allowed in the EU........... but a great feature. Well done.
They’re fine mate. We’re in the EU
one-man rave!
why ?
Now just put in a DJ booth and sound system and you're in business.
... and more lights :D
nice !!!!!!
Is that even legal?
I imagine it's only intended for use when parked and camping, not when driving.
3 months, and no video. I hope you are ok
Now all you need is the letters AA or RAC on the side of your van! At least you did the install properly, nice job but not worth the effort for me.
Where are the videos I waited 5 months for new content
:o)❤
Great cinematography as ever, but what are you going to do with this van? Assist at road works? Help the AA? Arrest teenagers at underground raves? They're not going to like you at camp sites with these...

a lit up area around a van without too much light pollution is not a bad thing. I've put outside lights on mine and wished i'd done it sooner.
Great video, but seriously....as an avid camper this is literally a tutorial on how to piss off the entire campground and look like a douchebag....
Never end a comment with douchbag 🤣 (it’s more of a free camping rig, yee of little faith)
