I like how simple it is. Would also add that tossing a drip irrigator on a timer into the inflow could allow you to automate the process. For those of us who don't use raised beds that much, what do you suppose would be a good way of preventing the pipe from collapsing due to soil compaction? Also, is root intrusion an issue? Could I use something like a perforated PVC around the drainage pipe to protect it? This might also allow for deeper burial, which I think I would prefer with my fruit trees.
Unfortunately a drip irrigator won't work, the water would just get out of the tee piece and then soak in. You need moderate flow rate and pressure to get the water right around to all parts of the buried pipe. The longer the pipe overall the greater the pressure required to reach all parts of it.
Once again, a really useful and inspiring video Nevin (especially the bloopers reel, lol). Thank you. I wonder if this would work for my washing water? At present I use all my washing water on the garden by carrying it out in buckets, If I could attach it to ag pipe underground watering it would be much easier to manage. I suspect that the soap (vegetable oil soap) and strands of fabric and dog hair etc would clog up the slots in the ag pipe though, what do you think?
Hi Jude! You are right about the fabric and dog hair etc, but you could stretch some pantyhose fabric over the inlet and that would catch most of the stuff that will clog the slots :-) (I was wondering if anyone would watch it all the way through to get the blooper :-) )
Your expression when you hear the clang is just priceless; it's the same one I wear whenever I'm trying to be graceful (and inevitably fail). I will try a pre-filter, maybe a small experiment first before I go putting them everywhere.
Hello sir, Can I wrap the drain mat around the whole deep root irrigator pipe ( The holes and the bottom)?. We got silty soil and it clogs our pipes fast.
Great videos. Keep them coming 😁

brilliant - how deep in a 400mm raised bed

That would seem to make sense to me, so, yes!
@@underthechokotree2792 Thank you sir.
